@BesnikDjek If you're on a really tight budget I can see how a 500 dollar laptop would be very VERY tempting. But the starting model for the macbook air is only around 1100 dollars or something. I say save up the extra dough.

I'm not a complete computer novice by any means, but having been away from PC's for the last 7 or 8 years I feel totally lost trying to navigate my mom's PC. I'm sure I'd get used to it if I messed with it for awhile, but I don't want to... not intuitive at all.

@akkappul i've been torn with that same question... if you get the upgraded air it's only a tad slower than the 13 inch pro. I already have a fast iMac so I'm going with the upgraded 11 inch air for an extra computer.

If it's going to be your main computer and you're going to be recording/editing on it or watching a lot of movies I'd say go with the 13 inch or 15 inch pro.

@Klicket01 any Mac with a 2.0 GHz or higher C2D processor should be able to handle 1080p/30 video editing, my ages old power Mac G4 dual 1.25GHz can handle 1080p/20. And my Mac Mini Core Duo could handle 1080p/20 too on FCP5.

I probably won't be getting a Mac until next year, when I start college, but going off of what is available right now, should I get the 11" or 13"? I didn't even think about a Macbook Air before, but my brother got a Macbook Pro for college, and I think an Air would be nicer since it is smaller and lighter. The only thing I am worried about is if it will be able to handle 1080/24p video editing? I'd get the 1.8 GHz i7.

@Klicket01 Yes it does handle 1080p video editing. I have 2-2.2gb free for video files as well (after the mac has taken the rest on other things). Yes, I have the 4gb model. I have the Core i7 1.8ghz 11inch. However, I've heard that the core i7 on the 13 is quicker again. I'm torn between the 11 and 13 at the moment. My only reason is because I video edit I'd like a bigger screen. At the same time I can get by. The battery on the 11inch is crap too though.

I called up Apple and ask if they have a way to locate on their system or with the inventory back person a MBA with the recent discovered Samsung SSDs, they chk then came back saying that their system show the SSDs as "Apple" branded there for, they can't know which one have or doesn't have any given SSD. In the mean time, I'm trying to think of a way to locate a MBA with a Sam SSD and exchange quickly. I'm still in the 14 or so day for return or exchange.

I have the 13" MBP and Id say it's perfect for students and people who edit pictures.

Its handy and not too heavy and has enough ports.

It has good performance and enough battery.

If you want to edit video though youll need the 15" or 17"

@fressshhh1 Although the 13" is 1.7GHz and the 11" is 1.6GHz the 13" turbos to 2.7GHz where the 11" turbos to 2.3GHz and I've actually noticed a speed difference with the 13" so for you I'd either recommend the 13" MBA or even the 13" MBP because of the firewire port which is a huge plus for music.
