I would really like to see you give a good description of the PocketWizard Flex and Mini for Nikon using the ttl functions capable on these devices. I have a set of them and I have had inconsistent, at best, results. I would greatly appreciate any insight you can share.
To me, it seems that this is a huge step forward to get your flash off-camera and use the ttl functions which are amazing when using the flash on-camera (and even bouncing the flash).
I got a Canon 7D which has built in wireless flash trigger. I've shot two weddings last year but I used the 580 on board, bouncing. Does the built in wireless work fine outdoors ? Why pro's use Pocket Wizards so much??
How much does the pocketwizard cost approximately? I need one urgently. Could I order from your shop and have it sent to the Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo)? I have a Nikon D-70 and my lighting kit is Interfit EX 150. I would definitely like to buy one. I can't actually use my lighting with physical sync cables to the horseshoe because for some crazy reason I get electric shocks through the camera.
ok, ok i have these i had no idea about the sekonic light meter wireless controls can you please tell me how this works i was just looking at these light meters....

i have two transivers, and a canon 40d, but i cant use the remote trigering, i dont know why, i followed all the steps you mentioned on this video, can somebody helpme please?
There is a cord made by Paramount, miniphone to hotshoe, that is really useful for hotshoe flashes. Or on the SBs you can also use the PC to miniphone cord that comes with every PW.
The hotshoe cord is item: PMMLHFS. It has a cold-shoe and a 1/4-20 thread on it too.
Well that's nice, so to get anything working at all I need TWO pocketwizards. That's a LOT of money. While I like the pocketwizards, I sure wish the netsite itself would be more informative.
The box the with LPA on it? That's part of the Pocketwizard motor drive cord. It allows you to activate the auto focus or not. It has a new compact design now though.
So, you trust a $3 cord with $400.00 set of Pocketwizards?
There are about five common connections for strobes out there. It would be a waste to put them all in there and any adaptors will kill your reliability. $20 is worth it when you're getting paid to get the shot. Other sync cord manufactures out there charge much more than that.
If Pocketwizards have such a simple transceiver in them, why doesn't any other manufacture out there make a superior product? They are the most reliable.
I totally agree with you, you pay for the quality, I dont see other radio slaves doing 12fps, time lapse, stroboscopic(those two are done with the multimax) and be able to trigger a flash within 10 microseconds of the shutter release, these kids dont know what they're talking about, go buy ebay remotes and see if they compare
I had to go to Radio Shack to get the cable that connects the pocket wizard with the studio strobe. Pocket Wizard gets over $200.00 for a piece of plastic with a simple transceiver inside, and yet, they don't include a $3.00 cable so you can hook the unit up to a strobe right out of the box. Be advised: if you buy this product you will be able to attach it to your camera, buy you won't be able to hook it up to your strobe without either an adapter (NOT included) or buy a different cable(audio).
Could someone possible explain what the 'relay' means and what it is used for? Human is at A, fires PW. Camera at B is triggered, and relays the signal to an external flash at C to fire.
Also, does the PW work with flashes in manual mode only? I know Canon flashes have optical/infra-red remote comminications that allow ETTL, but can the PW also allow wireless ETTL operation?
We're not using the new ones yet, but the last models are just WONDERFUL, and allow us to operate lights wirelessly at very long distances. I've nothing but praise for the product.
I have them, there is some glitches while using with my bronica sqa, and some other older mostly mechanical cameras. I emailed them and they didnt respond, I'm kind of disapointed.
can u do high speed sync with this?

so does the plus ii read the flash as if it was on the hotshoe of the camera????
andrewb132 2 years ago
What do you mean by read?
The Plus II is a radio trigger only. It has no light measuring or sensing capabilities.

Better getting skyport, cheaper and better :-)
l33thustla 2 years ago
is it possible to use skyport with Sb-900?
AdamMonte9 2 years ago
Yep I think so. But you need cable to plugin side your flash.
You need universal one, not RX, that works only on RX flash heads

this is like a ST-E2?
ispt17 3 years ago
There is a different application for an ST-E2.
The ST-E2 is an infrared light, line of sight device. Max 50 feet, I think. You will have the ability to use TTL.
Pocketwizards use an encoded radio signal that can reach 1600 feet. A strobe connected to Pocketwizards has to have their output set manually.
Pocketwizards are more dependable in setting off your strobes every time.

You have correctly addressed your first question.
The answer to your second question is yes.
The answer to the third question is no.
