Over 80% of fish are still taken from the ocean. All live coral is not from tanks, they are ripping it from the reef in places, the videos are right here on youtube. Seriously, in Hawaii where I live some fish are getting so rare that fish collectors are poaching them from protected areas as they cannot find them anywhere else! I once saw a rare fish that took 22 years living in Hawaii to find, the very next week fish collectors were in the bay breaking the coral and taking that fish. It's Ugly
I do have my facts straight. I live where fish collecting is done, and have seen fish collectors in action. They walk all over the coral, which kills it, and they take fish that are so rare now (because they have all been collected) that they can only be seen in aquariums. Most aquarium fish are still collected from the wild. And do some research where live coral is taken from, in parts of Fiji they are tearing it up from the reef. Check out forthefishesdotorg, not my sight but good info.
Not cool. Coral reefs around the world are being decimated by fish collectors for aquariums. Saltwater tanks mean death for fish and destruction of the marine environment.
@konafishlover No. Most fish that are in home aquariums are very abundant in the ocean, hence fact that they are in home aquariums for the cost of not much more than the shipping. Most fish are actually farm raised. There are a few cases where people have fish which should not be taken from the ocean, but in reality home aquariums have such a minute affect on reefs themselves. And ALL coral you can buy for your house aquarium is on coral farms so again no harm. Please get your facts strait.
Very lovely collection of marine fish always liked them but is not sure if I could have them my parents had tropical fish and we looked after them and they lived for years was sad when they all eventually gone but who knows.
Any how hard is it on a scale on 1 to 10 to look after marine fish compaired to tropical?
Your retarded that dosent go for saltwater tanks at all it depends on species He shouldent of had a french angel in theyer period even if it was by itself.
@g0doit Seriously? Does anyone actually still use that rule? It definitely doesn't apply to full bodied fish. Only to small fish like guppies, tetras...Not even goldfish apply to that rule.
Hey! cool tank eyenaked can u let me know if I could keep more than one large angel in a 90 gallon also I recently bought a tunze 9005 skimmer I would think this would help the fish??
