  • PSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT! Honda boys!...................................The secrets out......the little four door ugly box can actually spank the shit out of you and still have enough money for gas, BFG drag radials, food, and money to take your girlfriend out on a date after he spanks you! And yes THEY OUTHANDLE SPORTS CARS LIKE THE MIATA! LOL!

  • turbo dodges are definatley the cars tuner kids should be into they got way more potential and theyre better looking

  • dont mess with turbo dodges. They wrote the book on turbo four cylinders in the 80's.especially watch out for the turbo caravans.

  • @jims72 You have it right.

Picking up a 5 speed Turbo Mini Caravan on Friday. And best thing...

    It's a 5 speed.

    Kimmyskunk

  • @KimonoSkunk awesome! I finally took mine out to the track and ran a 14.5 at 91mph in the 1/4.Im running 10 lbs of boost .all stock fuel system too.my worst run of the night was a 15.2 and the best was a 14.508 which was the consistent time for the van. right around 14.5-14.6.i even roasted a v6 civic a guy built that night it was hilarious because i only got 600 bucks in my whole van and he was bragging about the thousands he had in his! MOPAR OR NO CAR!

  • @jims72 MOPAR all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @875109725710 When you learn a little more about Miatas and cars in general you will realize how silly your post is.

  • @MyOpinionMatterss 875109725710 is right.. You under estimate the Omni, like everyone else. I am well aware of how popular the Miata is in the racing world btw, but I would never agree that it could take a Omni.

  • Is it faster than a glh in a straight line? No, of course not. It it faster on a race track or a windy road? Definitely. I would still have my glh if some girl didn't total it but the Miata is a joy to drive and 100 times more reliable...even now at 20 years old!

  • @MyOpinionMatterss Dude a civic would not out handle an omni stock, no way in hell.

  • @875109725710 Where the hell did you get civic from? I was talking about a Miata.

  • @MyOpinionMatterss it looked like you were commenting on the video, and then you went on to talk about a Miata, which still could not out handle a GLH if the GLH had puasy (or hgow ever you spell it).

  • @875109725710 You have much to learn.

  • @875109725710 Ask anyone. Miatas are one of the most reliable cars built. Why do you think they are the most raced car in the country. That and because of the great handling. Is it faster than aflh

  • I miss my 85 with a turbo II motor and 555 tranny, I killed cameros , mustangs and all the typical assholes. : )

  • bye bye civic..hahha i love it

  • POS Honda got OWNED!!!

  • That said, I hate civics and would never buy one.

  • I've had both. An 85 GLH (which I upgraded the turbo, added spearco intercooler, 555 getrag trans, etc). Car was very fun, needless to say but was not very reliable. Door handles breaking every other day (lol - common problem), oil leaks, etc. Now I own a 91 Mazda miata. This car is bulletproof. Nothing breaks on it, ever. Best part of all, the motor is made for a turbo! 250 reliable hp in a 2100 lb car. So while I do like american cars, they just can't touch the reliability of Jap cars

  • @MyOpinionMatterss If your miata was that old and used it would be braking left and right. Ide learn to deal with the Omni just so i could own miatas all day. sure more HP but guess what. NO TORQUE. Omnis have goood torque. Which horse power is nothing without torque and torque is nothing with out horse power. blah blah blah the point is

Omni vs miata = miata losing

Omni vs miata in the condition of being 20 years old = miata being destroyed.

  • @875109725710 My Miata has had NOTHING break on it and I beat on it constantly. You have no idea what you're talking about. Mazda engines are not Honda engines. They do have decent torque. Please do some research before you make stupid comments like this. Omni's dont have lots of torque either. GLH's have torque but you know why??? THE TURBO!!! I know you're young and don't know much about cars but please do some reading. You might learn something.

  • People just cant under stand that Jap cars are pieces of shits! i am not surprised AT ALL that the GLHS won. My dad owns a Dodge Shelby GLHS 86 # 76 made and i own a dodge glh(my first car) so i know all about what these small but monstrous car can do!

  • @875109725710 I think you need to be less close minded. Being a CAR enthusiast I can appreciate any car that performs well regardless of who makes it. I loved both of my GLH's but they were constantly breaking because they were designed to get dodge out of debt in the 80s by being cheap to produce. Reliability and performance were not at the top of their list.

  • ok so the 2.2L or 1.6L turbo I4 pushes 145hp? And weighs in at 2300-2400 pounds? Shit how much torque is it pushing out because a damn paseo can easily reach 145hp and weigh a good 300 pounds less with a 4A-GE

  • @CJDaTman This Omni was around 250. Bone stock non intercooled 6 psi GLH's were around 145.

  • @sawwaveanalog oh, that puts it into perspective

  • @sawwaveanalog i would have liked to race you when i was running my built 20psi 84 t2 rampage

  • @CJDaTman Stock, the 2.2 turbo 1 kicks out 145HP and 170 lbs of torque. The GLHS' were 175HP and 175 lbs of torque. (to protect the A525 transmission. Most Turbo II's were 174 HP and 200 lbs of torque. Stock boost on the turbo I's were 7 psi and turbo 2's were up to 12 psi. If memory serves correctly, each lb of boost on the turbo I increased HP by about 5 HP. On the Turbo II's, its about 7 HP. Give or take.

  • @CJDaTman dodge omni's came with 2.2l na or a 2.2l turbo pushen round 155hp stock, and the car is really lite, plus thro n a 5sp.....kinda tough lil cars

  • i used to think all omnis were shit, but the glh? wow, i wonder if those are cheap to maintain?

  • The Omni is very cool because it doesn't weigh much and it has the 2.2 block. Generally, any 4 cylinder motor can make any amount of power with a turbo... right up to the point where the motor blows up. Its not that the Japanese motors are crappier, they're more efficient and more purpose specific. The Americans on the other hand don't know what they may have to do with the same block 20 years later so they over build. Not too many import motors have started at 84 hp and ended at 224.

  • @archone64 You really have no idea what your talking about( granted i don't know to much either) but my dad who if you want to test his knowledge his name is The Pope on turbo dodge so if you want to be embarrassed go tell him what you just said. You really are quite stupid. Or just miss em formed. a lot of people dont know what there talking about but when you talk to my dad you will realize that he really know almost every thing about cars.

  • @875109725710 Wow, that is really an ignorant statement. In an intelligent conversation, you would counter each of my points with that which you believe to be more factual. Let me break it down so you can follow the civilized rules of debate:

    My statements:

1- The Omni is a very light car.

2 -virtually all 4 cylinder engines can produce power with a turbo, up to the point they break.

3- Japanese engines are generally more purpose specific than American ones.

So what don't you agree with?

  • @archone64 tht honda sukz

  • sounds like a nice car for a jap car ;)

but my STOCK Shelby Dodge Charger (my first car xD) will run 13s and i only but $300 in to that lol. my bro has GLH and my dad has a GLHS. and CSX. ^-^

  • That's the other thing i've come to notice, weight, so man people over look that aspect when they're trying to make a car fast!

  • no kidding? Nice to see someone rock both imports and domestics! I'm so sick of seeing that argument(jap vs. usa) pop up on every street racing videos' comment section!

  • the roumor has it Shelby named it GLH which stands for "Goes Like Hell".

  • its not a rumor, its true. Originally the engineers wanted to name it Coyote but Shelby liked GLH more. =)

  • DUH. thats true. the GLHS(way faster then the GLH stands for "Goes Like Hell Some MORE"

    XD

OF course the GLH would pwn that piece of shit civic

  • @shmenge71 thats acutally true. and the GLHS stands for goes like hell some more. no joke

  • @shmenge71 its a GLHS which stand for goes like hell some more!

  • @shmenge71 and thn made a GLHS....goes like hell somemore

  • civics are just lame the glh is bizarre but its obviously faster too so HA

  • the stupid civic had a turbo too... and an extra cam... and 8 more valves :)

  • so it's a turbo 24 valve TOHC civic si? Must be like a limited edition model or sumthing! lol

  • lol. i meant compared to the omni.. which is sohc 8v

  • I know whatcha meant, i was just being a smartass! i'm a honda guy, but one thing i've learned when it comes to street racing, never underestimate the guy in the other lane, especially if he/she's driving a car ur not familiar with! N-E way, a wins a win in my book!

  • @sawwaveanalog and 8 more wings!

  • @sawwaveanalog and a 4dr lol

  • @mustangmikeca honda suck,,,

  • @mustangmikeca ......Omni FTW. get used to it

  • @mustangmikeca Your comment fails...

  • I used to love to have fun with Mustangs and Camaros who would smile at me when they saw my 86 Shelby Charger turbo. They weren't laughing when I left them behind by the other side of the intersection. Usually, they'd give up by then. 175 hp stock vs 220-235hp and nearly 1k weight difference makes for a heck of a race. Civics were a dime a dozen. Wish I had a dime for every race I won against little kids in their imports with the fart muffles who thought they were really fast.

  • Dodge Omni GLH!!! The Ultimate Grany Sleeper Car...lol...My buddy owns a 89 omni...I call it "FUNNY FAST"...LOL..

  • Honda gets owned by the orignal tuner hatch. HAHA!

  • A Jetta is a girl's car..

  • Hey dingus! I designed the retro-stang for ford in '90, and owned a mach, and a 5.0. Having then owned about 5 glhturbo's , one 2.5 shadow turbo, and several great mitsu's, like the vr4 and evo, I gotta agree with the turbo crowd. There's nothing, bang-for-buck, that comes close to the old chryslers. And that stuff about the jetta is complete bullshit. Tires alone not up to it! Try @ 250hp, oscar meyer!

  • my dads glhs shelby has 500 and weighs 2300 pounds and has NEVER EVER lost a race so stfu marcus you retard

  • worlds best sleeper car.

    Go's

    Like

    Hell

  • try

    Good

    Luck

    Honda

  • Wow that old Omni just anally fisted your hot-rod honda.

  • @duanedragon2 yea cause omni has twice the torque than japhonda does!

  • vtech my ass

  • there is always the vr6 vw all of the perks of the gti plus 4wd and a v6 there is a company in Canada that does simple turbo conversions and make 514 hp out of them so in essence you could run with the likes of Porsche and Ferrari for a fraction of the price. im not a vw guy im a ford guy but you have to give credit were credit is do.

  • Let me lay it out in Ford terms. Take the 88 Daytona Shelby 2.2 Turbo 174hp/200torque and run it against the 88 Mustang GT V8. They run virtually identical quarter mile times, the Shelby will beat it on an oval track and average 24mpg city at the same time. Take off the muffler/axle pipe, add a $30 grainger and it will hang with a 260hp 4.6 Mustang Gt, while still making less power(200/225) than the 88 Gt and improving to 27/28mpg city. Check out my vid. That's what I have done to mine.

  • that my be but the ford mustang has always just been the platform from witch you build till your heart is content. in ford terms this is what you do is get a 347 stoker with 8.5 compression and forged internals get 2 turbos back half the car then go run in the 8's all day long reliably. if you were to get any 4 banger that fast you would have to spend way more money and still be less reliable.

  • Jesus christ I love the sound of that four cylinder

  • Had an 85 GLH, and many a Mustang and Camaro knew what my tail lights looked like. =Þ

  • "Racing your honda is like running in the special olimpics, even if you win you're still retarded"

  • joke is old and not funny how would you feel if you were retarded? besides id rather drive a slow car fast

  • Hell there's days I wished I was retarded. you ever hear retarded people bitch about life?

  • Take it from someone living the life of one. Truly expert testimony.

  • GHLS classic, light n fast....never really knew anything bout dis sleepers till i knew someone with one...ugly but quik As fack

  • My dad had a '85 dodge omni glh n/a 2.2 when i was like 5 and i never really liked it til i bought my present car, an SRT-4, and looking back on the history of dodge i see that my car is basically a new omni and i appreciate it so much more. Such a fantastic car, now i only wish that he would've kept it!!

  • It's called torque. Turbo dodges have some :).

  • Some torque? They are torque Monsters for 4 cylinders. ;)

  • you can probably petal a bike and make more torque if you want a torque filled 4 banger then buy a Volkswagen then go kill every omni ever made.

  • I can give volkswagon credit for giving their 4 cylinder's torque unlike Honda's. But they are still a few leagues behind Chrysler's 2.2's and 2.5 turbos. Take for example the 2k6 VW GTI 200hp/207 torque. It runs the same 14.7as the GLHS Omni at 175hp/175 torque...which btw is factory torque limited. Without the torque limits it would be similar to the GTi's torque output. At 200hp it would be around 225-230 torque and blow the doors of the GTI with a very low 14 second quarter mile time.

  • Volkswagen's in my opinion are way better than the Chrysler. yes the Chrysler have more hp but the vw is the whole package looks power and impeccable build quality plus the gti handles like its on rails and if you look back at the 76 gti most hot hatch cars cant compete with its all round performance, gti's have always been all things to all people. sporty, reliable, good looking, affordable, well built, and practical. over all great car, some thing i cant say for the Chrysler.

  • You are entitled to your opinion, but implying the above Omni is inferior is very wrong. Chrysler's 2.2's/2'5s are some of the toughest most reliable 4 cylinders ever made. That little omni will beat the GTI on the dragstip or oval. Chrysler/Shelby wasn't fooling around when they made these cars. They were made to beat or at least match the majority of the competition which they do even 'till this day.

  • as far as vw go you might have them on acceleration but a bottom of the line stock 2.0 8v can reach 160 and i know that is true because i did it in my old 01 jetta and vw are all over the omni in the handling department besides you are comparing your 170 hp omni to the 110 hp 76 gti witch if you beet on i be it is just barely. and on top of that the Chrysler omni and Shelby cars had a terrible reputation for turbo failure if you want a ugly car that goes fast than get a ford taurus sho

  • I highly doubt that's true, 160 requires a far bit of power...granted if you have highway gears that would help. I would compare a 93hp non turbo omni with the 110hp GTI, it would be pretty close and I'd give props to the omni. A GLHS 2.2 Turbo 175hp omni would beat a VR6 in every department, cept looks. VW has nothing on Dodge and neither does Ford for that matter. HP for HP they can't compete. 260hp in a Daytona is good for a low 13..where are a 260hp Mustang is stuck in the low 14's.

  • i did it in my bone stock 5 speed jetta believe me or not besides your daytona will and i quot from the consumer guide "hang with the best of them until the repair bills pile up around 60k miles" if you wanna start putting ringers against ringers witch that is what the Shelby daytona is then you have to go up against the ford cosworth escort or the rs 200, besides your omni would not beat a 250 hp 4wd vr6 it would have you out of the hole every time and you would not catch up.

  • A 250hp omni would blow the doors off a VR6. It only takes 260hp to put an omni in the high 12's. I'e got 140kms on my T2 Daytona it runs low 14's at will and the only thing I've replaced on it is the headgasket and wastegate rod. Every other engine part is 100%bone stock from the factory. So since you clearly don't have a clue about Turbo Dodge anything, I don't have the time to waste anymore on the likes of you... a person who pretends to know something.

  • The 2.2 is one of the most reliable four-cylinder engines ever made, and in all its forms, from under 84 hp to 224 hp, was a long-lasting sturdy piece of equipment (if you were willing to pay for the occassional head gasket).

  • that honda had no chance at ALL! uahahahaha

  • the first time i saw a glh i was at new england dragway, 1998 i was 17 and i thought i was bad with my 14 second mustang,, till i got abused by an omni,, i want one

  • I tought you would lose your muffler for a second

  • I love it man! I would highly suggest holding onto that Omni, it will only increase in value as time goes on. Ive seen near mint cars selling for over 11,000 already. - The 2.2 and 2.5 L engines are bullit proof. I own a Daytona and a Shadow both TBI cars, but very dependable. The Shadow has 320,000 miles!

  • 2.2 was bullet proof, but my 2.5 was absolute crap. Kept losing compression. Wore out piston rings so fast. I went through 3 engines in 2 years. Maybe i just had a streak of getting lemon engines?

  • for all of those who say Omni's in general are pieces of shit, they are all wrong! i had two non turbo omni's (actually one was a horizon, but same) They are so durable not to mention i would like to see any rice burner out there that size loaded with a 2.2 liter. very good running cars and i only wish i could find a GLH. i would gladly trade my mitsubishi mirage 01 with 35 thousand miles for a near perfect GLH

  • GLHS=Goes like Hell Somemore!!!

  • I had an '85 GLH Turbo. They're awesome! I'd still have it if a drunken douchebag hadn't hit me & totalled my car.

  • GLH Omnis are cool as hell, I wish i had mine back, I have a shelby charger, but thoses omnis are sleepers all the way.

  • the sounbd of tht little dodge motor brings back the memories :,)

  • omni all the way

  • haha thats funny my friends 99 altima w only exhaust stomped a turbo omni by like 8 lengths in a 1/4

  • bullshit

  • I've seen this video at least 15 times and it gets better every time. I love Omnis.

  • how can u love an omni they have no style at all ..they are front wheel drive ..and ugly as fuck .. oh well ..im gald it beat the peice of shit civic

  • because when my no style ugly as fuck front wheel drive kicks the ass of someones stylish ride sitting on wheels that cost more than i have in my entire car... well.. i get a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. and if they are good sports sometimes their girlfriends show me their tits. thats always cool too :D

everyone loves a fast piece of shit!

  • haha right on man i guess that works eh

  • OMFG I LOVE OMNIS

  • Im a little confused. You say a turbo civic, and that omni was draggin ass, but still beating the civic? Put the omni in the garage and give it to your grandchildren's children! Fuck hondas!!! YAY!!!

  • omni is tI bottom TII top 18 psi for this run big NPR frontmount, stockish ecu, somewhat gutted, bfg drag radials. civic is a 98 coupe, mitsu 18g, e-manage, 12 psi i think, frontmount, stock b16

  • Them Mopar horses are bigger, faster, stronger, and pull harder than any other breed of horses :)
