it's the fluoride in the toothpaste that is eroding the surface of the CD and reducing the scratches. That won't work with a toothpaste with no fluoride in it. You should be using a fluoride free toothpaste to brush your teeth. Search youtube for videos about how to make homemade toothpaste.

@Tuckypoo111 Thanks! I recently sold her and bought myself the new Acer 1410 dual-core netbook :) That's been the best portable computer decision in ever!! :D :D
No that makes no dirrecernce. Its the abrasive nature of toothpaste that does the job. T-Cut works better, floowed by car polish. Always works unless the scratch is just way too deep.
Ohmygod i was trying this a few mins ago . I've got two ff8 cd and i tried on the first one it didn't work and i got angry . But i tried on the second one and it worked . Ohmygod . This is 100percent true !
Work on my Xbox 360 game it had a perfect circle scratch rubbed it on left for 2-3 min, cleaned of with paper towel (i rubbed it from the center to the edge) and BAM it worked i have to wipe the disc now and then but at least i can play it!
thanks dude dude, just followed your vid instead of paying $40 fuckin dollars for a cd fixer thing. You ever in Japan drop me a message and we'll go grab a beer ;)
Actually you are all wrong, this will definitaly work. The data is not on the plastic back of the cd, it's written onto the very, very thin silver on top. and if the cd is scratched it can't properly read the data
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This can't possibly work. The reason why the scratches make the CD not work is because the scratches cause a lack of data. The data is written on the CD, and when you scratch it, part of it is removed. The toothpaste does not mystically rewrite data back onto the disc. You're better off burning an extra copy of the disc as soon as you get it. (Not illegal as long as you don't give it away cough cough.)
Ok, please read up before posting that nosense. The data is stored right under the lable off the disc, the scratched part is a layer of thin plastic protection. It contains no data, So, unless the scratches are several milimeters deep, the data has not been destroyed. The disc is unreadable becouse the the scratched plastic simply does not reflect the laser properly.
Only really deep/thick scratches result in a loss of data. Most scratches are just on the reflective layer(no data), and they cause the laser to reflect in the wrong direction, and yes, they can be repaired.
you made your mistake by rubbing the cd while you rinsed it off. youre supposed to let the water do all of the work and rinse it off without rubbing it, so the toothpaste hardens and creates a substitution for the data on the disk by filling in the cracks. i hope this helps everyone viewing this video
i have the circle scratch disease on my elder scrolls 4 oblivion wat is did was(im not tryin to trick you from fixing your disc) wat i did was i got the disc
then i got some baby cologne (sounds crazy but works i guess)then get some hand sanitizer then frbreeze and then put all of it on the disc then let it sit then in thers for about 10 mins not a min longer or it my dry and become a stain (as i was sayin) then whipe it off with a soft cloth and u will get some scratches off
You guys are fricken retarded. Toothpaste doesnt work for you guys because your using the wrong kind of toothpaste or just dont know how to do it. Tards...
I think you gotta leave it there for bout 5 minutes after you got all the toothpaste around it. Then rinse it and yeh. If it doesnt work, your Aqua Fresh is funky. Cuz my MADDEN 08 for my xbox 360 got that circular scratch all around the disc because i played with the xbox standing up. And it had a bunch of huge scratches. I left it for 5 minutes after rubbin the toothpaste and now it works perfect agian. I won fricken 42(6 FULL touchdowns) to 8. I was the Eagles vsing Colts
Hahhahahahhaha! I did the same to my bros GTA 4!!! I was chnaging a song on my boombox and accidently noked down my xbox and guess waht, huge circle!! lol! Ill try the tootpaste think!!
Actually Toothpaste does work if u use it with peanut butter. But u have to remember not to wash it off or u would have just wasted your time. But this is just me, dont know if it will work with anyone else, i think i just got lucky.
toothpaste is abrasive and will only scratch it more, its the reason that seniors don't (or shouldn't) use it for cleaning their dentures. it doesn't work, if it did for you it's cuz when you washed off the toothpaste you washed off something else that you couldn't see before, cleaning the disc so it worked again.
do you know what cd/dvd cleaners do? they wear away a thin layer of the plastic to become level with the scratches so they virtually are gone. maybe that's what the tooth paste is doing but in a more rough way...
i duno, i just tried it on a trash cd and it took out the lighter scratches but it left scratches where theyre visible when light relects off the disk. Yes toothpaste is abrasive but its like 4000+ grit
BTW the cd worked after the repair, even when i did it twice in a row.
fuck dis fake ass bitch ass nigga ass faggit shit i bomb on all yall mothafuckers u niggas cant see me or be me im west side till i die young ass nigas getin killed with your mouth open
Don't use toothpaste. Use T-Cut, and go over it well a number of times until the scrathes have been abraded out. Then polish with standard car polish. It will work unless the scratches are too deep.
the 7vnth comment below me dude y would people make a vid? try flagging because he is messing peoples cd up i let u kno in a min if it works but he isnt lying neither is any1 else so sthu it works
