I don't get people critisizing his voice on this video. So he can't hit the high note, who gives a fuck, the performance altogether is amazing, and his lower register is just as beautiful as it is on the record. Obviously a screaming vocalist is doing damage to their vocal chords which is why his voice won't be as capable as somebody who doesn't. He actually hits 98% of all the notes.

This is what screaming does to your vocal chords, that's all. Hitting high notes will be hard for him.

Chino has off days sometimes. Search HQ Deftones Headup My Own Summer Optimus Alive. It's a concert in 2010 in which it's probably Chino's best performance I've ever listened to of Headup and he hits his vocals perfectly in my own summer too. Quit hatin, Chino obviously was having a bad day doing some of these songs at Dallas.

wtf? Are fans not allowed to criticze a band they like? I love Deftones and their energy live, but it's ridiculous to say "why should a band sound exactly like their record live?" or "Can you do it? No? stfu." I love their energy live, so I can disregard a few vocal issues. But if the band can't perform what they produce they shouldn't tour. The only person in the band who has issues is Chino, everyone else is flawless.

I hope Chino gets a handle on his voice, because he's an amazing singer.

And FYI, I play guitar and bass, and I sing. I know very well about the recording process. I also know, that these guys all use vocoders and chorus tweaks in studio to round out their voices.

But I have noticed that either due 2 his weight loss or some other unknown, his voice has shown improvement. & since you also play guitar, bass, sing etc. your aware that in addition to multiple takes studios also clean up voices to some degree but your 4getting one important element. Talent! & Im guessing thats why you & I are here posting on U-tube about Chino rather than touring the globe like Chino

@QOTSAPT Sorry to interrupt your discussion but regarding the bad nu metal vocalists - if we take American Head Charge (!!!), early Incubus, early Mudvayne hedP.E. and Slipknot for nu metal bands - all vocalists of those bands are badass. Though for me Chino is the best, because of his timeless charisma and style. Many times he's far from perfect live, but he can afford it :)

@snupcho Good lord, Mudvayne was ruthless live. Chad could sing and scream all through out. But they went downhill for me after LD50. Kinda like Korn. I loved them back in the day, but when I listen to those old songs, I kinda wonder why I liked them so much. When I listen to Deftones, doesnt matter which album. Be it Adrenaline or White pony. I still LOVE their tracks, old and new.
