everyone is talking about woodwinds in dci. well ill give my two cents. woodwinds in general are a lot more fragile. first for saxes clarinets and flutes the pads over the tone holes dry out.
second, the best sounding clarinets are made of wood. wood has to be maintained with humidifiers and what not. in the unfortunate even of rain, ive seen drum corps practicing. if that happened with wood winds, forget about it.
although i think having a nice woodwind sound would bring another beautiful
color to drum corp, i think right now it would just be a major pain. you would have to condition instruments with synthetic pads, and buy plastic clarinets, then keep up with reeds breaking and adjust pads constantly.
YOU DONT Put Winds In Drum CORPS AT ALL, WHEN WINDS ENTER THE PICTURE BRASS AND DRUM LINE HAVE TO SACRIFICE SOUND SO WINDS CAN BE HEARD DRUM CORPS IS PERCUSION AND BRASS, THATS THE WAY ALL MARCHING BANDS AND CORPS SHOULD BE, JUST PERCUSION AND WINDS
calm down with the caps, you meant perc and brass at the end, but marching band and DCI are two different things, marching band is balanced for everyone with interest in music to play, so they should have winds in it, it also adds good color to their music which is a different style from DCI. DCI is pretty cool because they create a very strong sound from its brass and are well disciplined. and I wish one day to join a DCI corps
also you can look pretty bad ass marching a drum or horn .......... i have yet to see somone look like a hard asss marching a flute or a clarinet. am i right
lets just say theres a reason its called drum and bugle corps

If that is feasible then, i would say do it.
