@savgal1211 : you do know that bragging that your parents still have to work at 83 and 76 is a disgrace right? This is the time they should be enjoying the fruit of their hard work. @Xproject187 Here's the funny part- If you've been convicted of a drug related felony( selling drugs to buy food), you are not eligible for food stamps. If your job doesn't pay you enough to buy food AND housing, you have to sell drugs on the side( to buy food... which is why you got the felony in the first place).

this story has touched me in a lot of ways. i have been on assistance since maybe oct. 2007. it is hard out here trying to not only find a job, but to keep it and feed the family. economy is still bad and i try to stay within my budget with my stamps.
$1600 a month, that's more than me and my wife make working. No wonder people are turning to this kind of living and then they get comfortable living off others. Sick america
@kdavidmcd In Florida it leaves you with no driver's license and a ticket to jail. They take your driver's license because your over 30 days behind? That's child support in Florida for ya. I've been walking sometimes 12 miles per day to find a job!
@oicu812ification And the joke's on the government/ taxpayers. My friend went to jail for 2 months for not being able to pay child support. He was $1,800 behind. At the cost of $3,500 a month to incarcerate him, the government spent $7,000 to jail him because he couldn't come up with $1,800 in this economy. When he got out, he was EVEN MORE behind in child support. Does this even make ANY sense to ANYONE??
@kdavidmcd In the streets like what we see coming at 53 years old, Obama and his change,It's all good, this world has nothing for me anyway. At least this way I am not distracted with the worldly thing and am ready for whats to come. If you have, you will lose it anyway,,bye
@KidsKicksforChrist Okay, I understand and agree with what you are saying. But when I hear "worldly things" I thing of materialistic things. If a man is like most American men, he will be divorced by his wife and she will take the kids and house. If he can't afford child support, he will lose his freedom. Just wanting to just be able to keep one's freedom is not materialistic. And if you're 53, you were around, and able, to work during the years when the economy, and women, were still good.
@kdavidmcd Oh I did live good until I got disabled on the Job. Now I just work for my wife being her bitch since there is nothing for disabled people today. I won't stoop to welfare, sorry I will die first. Plus I am a true believer in letting a person who is a burden on others die. So can I please, she can make it on $1500 a month without me and I see no income until 65 and then it's only $400 a month. oh if I wait till 75 It doubles..Wow I can live on that..F_N sick America
@KidsKicksforChrist A "true believer"? Do you believe in Christ or just letting the sick die instead of them getting help? They are contradictory to each other. "Won't stoop to welfare'? Don't you know that pride cometh before the fall??
@jfsfrnd Been there tried that, always made everyone else money. Just like any Ebay or Craigs lists, Craigs is scams, Ebay fees you to death, then you get scammed 5 out of ten people, You send the product and they claim they didn't get it.. been there done that..no thanks, I don't deal with people period, my trust factor is gone but what do you do in this world of so many. Keep trying,, I got marble chains if anyone wants one,, God now lets see how many scams I get,,,Member of Stop them Dead,,,
@RayWilliamJohansen America is big. I don't think the poor people in the cities could travel all the way to the feilds to work without knowing there's a given job for sure. And also if you haven't worked in the fields before, The chances are you'll get injured or get sick before you get used to the work itself....
@beauleeful Not to mention that if you tried to get a job "In The Fields" most of those type of jobs are all occupied by the Latinos legal and illegal. At least that is the case where I live in Florida.
I am really glad I moved out of the US when i did. Am never going back. It's been a year now. In Australia it's really easy to get a job and live. Yes it is expesive to live here but the goverment gives you money even if you work and helps pay some of your rent. Plus wages are really high. Alhamdulilah
I saw a bum on the street asking for cash, while using a blackberry. LOL so not all bums are not rich just smart with cash I guess. Go to food kitchens volentear, you will see a few guys with real Air Jordan's, iphones and blackberrys. Its weird they find just enough cash for the cellphone bill at a POB. Ive seen this countless times in LA CALIFORNIA!
Those are pretty nice cars for people who qualify for food stamps. I feel for these people, but they also need to maybe downsize their massive homes and trade in their vehicles for more affordable options before they resort to government and community handouts. That army veteran and his pregnant wife, for example, were driving a very, very new Ford Explorer wile living on $1600/month - for a family of three people + a baby on the way, why not drive a Toyota/Honda car or at the most a van?
@kurtisstephan Agree. Don't spend what you don't have. Spend wisely, Live within your means. These people don't look like they are starving ......Go to Africa, The Sudan, 3rd World Countries. Then you will see the malnutrition. I live within my means, maybe more than most. But at least I don't need to ask for help.
@ChiChiBabe44 With your I'm alright Jack attitude who was lucky enough to work and retire, IT DOESN'T HAPPEN THAT WAY ANYMORE! America doesn't make anything anymore, most of all of our industries manufacturing takes place offshore along with the jobs. What do you have left? An empty shell of what used to be a country that took pride in what it did. Now that's gone to the Chinese, Mexico, ETC So what I'm saying is most people don't have the luxury of enjoying working for an employer until retired
@oicu812ification I fully agree w. your thinking, but I don't like personal attacks. @ChiChiBabe44 Now add a horrible, UNEXPECTED chronic medical condition. How are you doing now? Do you need help? Now ask a healthy person who doesn't understand what it's like to be chronically ill for help. Does their negative reaction surprise you? Well, BETTER GET USED TO IT...
@kdavidmcd To All who responded. I'm not judging anybody. I had a great job & worked my ass off as a single parent w. 2 children until I retired w. great insurance. Now I'm enjoying life. I made the right decisions w.o any help. So don't blame me for your problems. I never said I can't do this. Quitting wasn't in my vocabulary.
