As a Bears fan, I'm ashamed of myself as pertains to seeing Cade McNown in a Bears uniform.; Hell, he makes Jay Cutler look like John Elway, he's that bad.
I disagree with David Carr - his offensive line couldn't block a baby. With the amount of times he was sacked, it's a miracle that he's still in the NFL (even if as a backup) and not out of football because of concussions.
As for JaMarcus Russell, this video was made in 2008.
Can we stop with the "so-and-so isn't a bust because his team was bad" excuse? The whole point of being a high draft pick is to help make a bad team BETTER.
Some of these players were thrown in their ROOKIE year with POOR coaching and preperation! Some were mentally not ready for the switch from college to pro. The NFL quarterback IS the most stressful position in professional sports. All these teams were terrible before the #1 pick showed up. Horrible O Lines make it even harder for a new QB or running back. Don't ever show me a Lions pick they ran Barry Sanders outta the game. I've seen alot of Great Players ruined by bad teams!!!
There's no way David Carr should be on here, he wasn't that highly touted from Fresno State and had some good years you have to look at Houston having no defense so they could win games. Joey Harrington had some decent years in Detroit again a team with a bad defense. Rick Mirer was never expected to be a great NFL quarterback.
Tony Mandarich was a weightlifter who couldn't play football so he was a bust and Brian Bozworth for sure.
Can someone explain to me why a player who got hurt playing gets labelled a bust? Steve Emtman had good seasons till he blew out both his knees. Why does Bosworth get labelled a bust? He played three productive seasons in Seattle till his body gave out on him.
david carr isnt a draft bust he just got stuck on a bad team and he had a terrible O line. now hes backup for the giants and hes not bad when eli got hurt he played pretty well
actually, do your homework dude, even though we have johnson, carr never was able to throw it to him because he never had a line to protect him. plus he never had the coaching because of the dumb ass dom capers and his goonies.
Thats what I just said???? INVISIBLE O-Line as in they rush could just walk through to sack him because you couldnt see their O-Line....the Texans franshise messed up his career now hes a back-up to another 1st round draft pick and he shouldnt be
i don't think i would put Ki-Jana Carter on this list simply because he destroyed his knee on his first carry in preseason. he couldn't even play long enough to really see if he was a bust. that's just my opinion
Then why isn't he starting or even in the NFL anymore?? Don't say, "because there was no talent around him." That is crap. Look at Tom Brady- as much as I hate to say it- he did well with almost zero talent around him and won 3 Super Bowls. Well, unless you want to make the argument that his team cheated, then I would have to agree then let you win the argument.
well look at the colts, before manning they were the WORST team in the nfl, look the alt, before Matt ryan... flat garbage. Good QB's cause teams to win
Tim Couch had to retire because of injuries. he played decent football (just as every young quarterback) and he was out of the league before he could do anything.
he's a bust anyway, but we have to see who busted because of injuries and who because of attitude or lack of talent
ur wrong achally... tom brady had the most underrated team around the leauge at the time... he had a good team... thier was just not that big of names in thier...
I don't think that it's fair to call Alex Smith a bust because of the situation that he was put in. He got drafted, backed up Tim Rattay for a year and then started. He had a different offensive cordinator each year he's been in the league. If the 49ers drafted Aaron Rodgers instead, he would be struggling just as much as Alex Smith. He is doing well because he spent a few years backing up Brett Favre who's one of the best QBs of all time. Alex Smith isn't a bust, he just hasn't had a chance.
yeah dude i agree. ima niners fan and i think the 49ers are a bust in the category of handling and grooming quarterbacks of the future simply cuz they screwed up smith's career so far. smith is not a bust
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!you can not blame joey, joey never had a qb to study he was thrown in his rookie year and thats not how you do it what you do is you do what the packers did with aaron rodgers you bench him his first few years then he'll bejust fine
Naw howard wasnt a bust he was a heisman jinx. He never was used right until the end of his career. He did well in Green Bay and had a good short career in Detroit.
Tim Couch sucked balls, the browns suck balls and they always will!!!! Especially with that lame kellen winslow on that team.He should go to the football pergatory....Detroit.
couch did not suck... HE HAD NO OFFENSIVE LINE!!! he got sacked every other play... then when he has a good year and the browns make the playoffs... he gets hurt again and for some stupid reason butch davis like holcomb better than couch... holcomb ended up being terriblr and that was that
Its not david carrs fault.. he had no offensive line and he got sacked like every other play.. I guess it like messed his head.. Alex smith had a different offensive coordinater and a new system every year... And bryon leftwich just got injuired too much
its amazing how people just say alex smith sucks..open your damn eyes faggots he is in the worst place right now to be a QB the 49ers are horrible he has no weapons you guys couldnt probably last a minute in his shoes and you would suck too if your coach didnt even like but started you because your his best option.. a coach shouldnt make a young QB think like that a coach should tell "well atleast you tried hard myabe next possesion" not "what on earth are you doing you suck out there"
if its so bad how come J.T O'sulivan is kicking ass there Alex Smith Of the 3 Quaterbacks selected in that 2005 first round is the least talented considring that the picks were alex smith first Jason campbell second and Aaron rodgers third
lol u just proved u have absolutely no knowledge of the nfl and ur an amateur when it comes to the nfl. omfg hahaha i dont think anyone could get any dumber. if the 49ers drafted rodgers or cambell, they would in the same situation as smith right now, suckin on the bench. And anyways, osullivan is starting cuz smith has been on IR since preseason with a broken throwing shoulder. Who the hell has 4 offensive coordinators in 4 years, next year being smith's 5th in 5 yrs since martz got the boot
listen, im not sayin tim couch was bad, all im sayin is, david carr wasn't a bust. He was drafted to an exspansion team, which means just about every player on the team is bad, if he was drafted on a different team, he probably would've made the playoffs and a be a possible pro bowler.
fuck you cocksucker, cleveland isn't a dump, at least with Tim Couch we made it to the playoffs with a fucked o line and everything, David Carr jus fuckin sucked jus like houston, start winnin games first then talk shit, GO BROWNS
r u kidding me! david carr wasnt a bust, he had the worst offensive line of all the quarterbacks mentioned in this video. Also,if he had more than just one talented reciever, he would've been a pro bowler.
Dont 4get Curtis Enis and Blair Thomas. The NFL should include in the next collective bargaining agreement, teams are not allowed to draft Penn State RB's
yea I agree. Didn't Ki Jana tear his ACL on his 1st ever carry of the preseason his rookie year? Now if that's not bad luck then I don't know what is.
49ers change offensive coordinators about as much as a clean freak changes his undies. Give him at least another 2 years with the same person. Maybe Mike Martz can do something with him. I've seen him play pretty good games. WRs help too. Vernon Davis needs to show up.
Tim Couch was a big fat bust. Dont give me the team crap, he could've easily bitched his way out of a dump like Cleveland back then, the other QBs too, or complained about the lack of help on offense. He's either a bitch for playing so bad or a bitch for not speaking up and trying to improve his situation, he just wanted his money. He tried out for the Jags last year and didn't even make the team. Didn't he break his leg dropping back one year? Wow. Ki-Jana Carter, huge bust.
Yeah but how many more seasons will he be given to prove himself. 49ers haven't come remotely close to the playoffs, let alone any bit involved in the playoff race.
Im sorry but i dont think you can consider alex smith a bust yet...He still has a lot to prove and a little more time with a well developing 49rs team i think he can be a good qb
despit how much i hate 49ers bc they have 5 SBs like us,but i think alex smith is a very good QB,hes soo smart and he could make all the throws, hes accurate,he kinda in ways reminds me of ELWAY when he throws he deep bullets, and throws like aikman
he is like ben rothlisberger,i think if ben was in SF in SMITH circumstances wit 3 diff OCs,and seperated his shoulder, ben would probably do worse
SMITH is lucky he gots mike martz who is a QB guru, smith is too smart
as you said in the video, couch isnt a bust.. he was pretty much set to fail. he should have pulled a john elway and said not to play for the browns..
david carr- he wasnt a bust b/c of his talent. the texans always tried to change his throwing motion. so thats why he got screwed.. at carolina, he was doing decent till he got injured.
ki-jana carter - he was a bust b/c of injuries he could have been productive if it wasnt for that.
i agree, i hate it when people call players busts because and injury. However, if the players has a lot of them rather than a big one, then i can understand calling them a bust.
smith is 7-5 as a starter and has 1 to 1 td to int ratio taking out his rookie year. im not saying hes good but not a top 10 bust. if smith had playmakers and good o line who was terrible last yr they would had made the playoff
whatever happened to Joey Harrington?
