My doctor do it quick but not rough like that...and not noisy like that too..and I fond that they are doing slow n rough!!! My son cord was cut within 1 to 2sec than use pumper to get the dirt out from nose n mouth..they took so long to cut the cord n holding bb upside dwn for so long n shaking the bb somemore!!! Faints..

Its upside down to help the remaining amnionic fluid come out of the lungs, if you watch you will see it come out of its mouth and nose. If it stays in they cough alot and kindof strangle on it. Expecially in C sections. I guess every country does it differently.

Holding the baby that way helps it clear its nasal and breathing passges. Nothing inhumane about it. And babies are not that fragile. They've just been pushed through a passage the size of your fist. They're pretty tough. Also, it's better for the baby to have a regular delivery. They have stronger lungs because of it. Don't beleive me. Read a book. I'm not suggesting they drop the poor thing on its head, but they didn't do anything wrong in that delivery.

I did here a small cry from my daughter born rapidly due to AROM she was held up after birth, she was never suctioned at all, never had the airways cleared out but given some 02 meant I had to be seperated from my child, visiting or asking for a hold of my daughter on her night of birth annoyed one asian nurse alot. Everybody held her the next day. None of my babies were ever suctioned at birth
my son was born rapidly and he had the cord wrapped around his neck in the birth canal I had to stop pushing for dad to cut the cord and he never cried at birth, he was so peaceful and was very healthy with apgars of 8 and 9. Anjeni was rapid 9 and 9 and cried with slight nostril flaring and gulped down a bottle shortly after birth in the delivery room. Lilike was 7/9had TTN (wet lungs for less then 24 hours) with 23-28% air, no vent/cpap/cannula TTN was because of AROM during a rapid birth.

haha I'm from the US and they don't seem 'uneducated' at all, the only people that would say that are the ones that know nothing of what they are talking about. Only proves their OWN ignorance. And from some of the posts I've seen they don't seem to realize that when a baby is born there's fluid in it's lungs THAT is why they are holding them upside down so it drains out.
