  • King Stefan: It's Aurora! She's here!

    King Hubert: And...and...and...and Phillip!

  • Vive la France!

  • This is wonderful!

  • This apothéose is the most epic finale ever : )

  • me encanta!

  • This piece is so short, but yet it is so magnificent

  • For those who are unaware, this melody, while arranged by, was not composed by Tchaikovsky. It's La Marche d'Henri IV, also known as Vive Henri IV. It was also used as a sort of unofficial anthem for the royalists during the revolution and restoration eras in France.

  • it was the french monarchy's hymn before

  • I really liked this version too! I think it's beautiful played faster...

  • I recently danced the role of the Princess Aurora in a fully staged version of The Sleeping Beauty. Dancing this moment, when Aurora and Desiree receive the blessings of her parents and are married by the Lilac Fairy, is the most moving experience in the world.

I want to walk down the aisle to this music

  • @JediLongOne That would be lovely. Somebody has to give poor Mendelssohn a rest when it comes to wedding music.

  • You realise it's actually the French national anthem, not Tchaikovsky's work at all? It's the 'Ode to Henri IV' that was the French national anthem before the revolution. Tchaikovsky (correctly) thought it would provide a spectacular ending.

  • @MegaJpeck are you sure? I had the idea that the french took it and turned it into an anthem for Henri IV...please answere I'm very curiouse :)

  • Yeah I'm sure - the Ode to Henri IV dates from 1590. Tchaikovsky's arrangement is a dramatic rendition for the ballet, but it's just an arrangement. By the time he wrote the ballet the French Monarchy was gone, and Henri IV had been dead since 1610 .

  • @MegaJpeck But even as the monarchy was gone, this still meant something deep to the French that heard it at that time, and even the Russians. The Czar's family was related to the Bourbons.

  • NeuroticoAnonimo, this Sleeping Beauty is lovely but there are better versions. I think the best is Antal Dorati conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orcherstra. It's the complete ballet, this one plays too fast and seems to be just highlights. Also, I hate when people call some CD's old. Old how ? Because they're from the 90's. That's not old. It's not an LP or even an 80's cassette. I still think of CDs as being like new. I own only CD's.

  • @AmericanEvita Yeah, perhaps my "old" comment was a bit of an hyperbole, but the recording is almost 20 years old, so...

I also know there are better versions, but I don't have them. Besides, I really like this one, flawed as it may be.

  • the best one♥

  • La marche d'Henri IV!

  • @JRs90DeSequanie Vive Le Roi!

  • a Masterpiece!!!

  • my fav song from sleeping beauty!

thanks for uploading it. it is hard to find

  • You are welcome. It is from a very old and cheap cd that I found on a trash can at my school. It was very scratched, the only part that could be heard without skipping was this.... so, lucky you.

  • masterpiece :)
