I dont know if this works on all iphones but on my 4s all i had to do was make a two second sms tone the same way i would make a ringtone and it alllowed me to select that as my sms tone.

@guitarplayer2434 Yes, when I made the video, this feature was not in the firmware. Since the release of iOS5 Oct-2011, all iPhones that have iOS5 do not need to follow this tutorial like you say.

If anyone else has the same trouble I had of not being able drag drop your custom ringtone into the program to replace it, just right click the file you want to be replaced and press Replace File or something, then just navigate to your custom ringtone. Since I had this problem, I thought others might too so just decided to leave a quick message ^^

@Jamat786 Try and respring. If it still doesn't work, try playing the file by selecting it from your iPhone. If this doesn't work then I would say that you have probably accidentally converted it so something other than AIFF

But when i tried to create another tone and then replace the "sms-received6.caf", i can play inside the iphone broswer but can't play when i login t setttings and choose the No.6 tone as sms tone. @smallin45 sorry u cant, not possible. Reason is , there are only 6 default tones to be replaced with so, you cant just make a 7th one up.

I could not locate the "System" folder manually either.

@leeleeakalilmamma The only way would be to copy the original sounds to your computer before you replace them. Once you have done that, just copy them back when you want your original sound back.

@MonsterSpartan When you drag the tone into iPhone browser, it should replace the current tone, and you wont need to sync in iTunes. If it doesn't, you probably named it wrong.
