  • oh yeah great playing!

  • on the smith what eq setting did you use and i am having trouble under standing the swithes could you shed some light on this please and thank you.

  • I love the sound of that bass O_o

  • Awesome!

  • Hair by paul mitchell

the best self pun on youtube

Thanks ed for all you do and the gear you review and insight

  • @wakomaniac45 Indeed on the hair part.. I laughed.

  • Awesome! The Basswitch is a pretty cool thing, and I'm glad to see the Ken Smith, again. I it keeps appearing in more vids!

  • Great playing as always man! Keep 'em coming!

  • Hey,Ed,about these latest videos that you've recorded (or will record):were they made for your own or you've been hired for companies??

  • @123andrelevy - They were for hire contracts. I had extra footage, so I'm putting up some of that too to keep folks happy. When I'm done with that... it's going to quiet down until someone hires me again.

  • @BassGuitarMag

yes you make us happy !

    thumbs up

  • what song is it again?

  • @funkeety "Mr. P.C." by John Coltrane.

  • more. now.

  • Fantastic, Ed---I can't say enough how much I appreciate hearing this. Let's have more.

  • Oh now you're just showing off XD

  • @RyneProductionz - Well, Miles Davis said "It's not jazz without the mistakes." This is jazz.

  • Your videos are always informative and amazing thank you! I have a question, what are, in your opinion, the best, loudest, most tone defining 12'' bass speakers? Thanks in advance.

  • @BassRaven - I have been very happy with my Genz Benz Neo 12s, I've been using them for years. But Bergantino also makes killer cabs with 12s. It's also a matter of taste....

  • hahaha at the beginning of the video if you read on down the list of equipment in the top right hand corner it says "hair: Paul Mitchell" and "Spiritual guidance: Chong" lolwut?

  • That was the shit! I have a couple of your Jazz books and I'm gonna check them out now. Damn!

  • I love your gear reviews, but would love video lessons even more! For the love of the the low end, please start teaching us theory, technique, timing, and reading! You explain things so clearly and we need your help! I promise we'll practice!

  • @TheSteelChops - Thanks for the compliment. I have 21 instructional books out, and I would LOVE if you all went out and bought a few of them.

  • @BassGuitarMag Indeed - I own many of them, but we need instructional videos! Your slap bass video, which I own, is so clear and awesome. You know, a picture (or video) is worth a 1000 words. You don't have to give away the store ! Maybe do some videos on some of the key lessons from your books to help explain theory, technique, timing, and reading. It's a win-win. We get some clarity on these topics and you sell more of your books from where the lessons orginate!

  • @BassGuitarMag Didn't know you have instructional books. I'm going to buy few in next month as this one I'm already stony-broke :-] Already know which ones: improvisation and bass lines, hope they're good ;-) Btw. do you give lessons by skype or only face-to-face?

  • Running out of frets!

  • @NiklausMetal - Need more frets, more strings, more.... notes. Only here folks. In my normal life I'm a country bass player!

  • Where did you get the backing track, Aebersold? If so, which play-a-long album?

  • @sanwin17 - Hey Sandy. It's from Jazz Jam Session (Hal Leonard) I produced the tracks here in Austin, but the publisher didn't want a split mix - so you can't take the bass out. Great for soloing on the 6 though...

  • @BassGuitarMag I'll definitely be picking up a copy of JJS. Thanks

  • Phenomenal, I can see that you're really getting the hang of that 6 string.

  • @SteveUrkeI THAT one yeah, but Ed's owned 6ers before. Seems to have found his ultimate 6er in the Smith - I can see why.

  • @6y298 - This one so far feels the best to me. The neck is bigger than I usually want, but... damn, it just sounds and plays so great... I'll deal with the neck!

  • @BassGuitarMag so would I - in a heartbeat!

  • @SteveUrkeI - Almost... I'm still feeling my way around the C string.

  • you have a different technique, is it related to upright bass or something?

  • @jazzbasstard everyone has a different technique.

  • @jazzbasstard - Not sure what you mean by different.

  • Nice playing man.

  • Hair: Paul Mitchell

    Waugh!

  • you sound very good on that KS, thx for posting

  • Where I can get that superbassman hanging from percussion? I'd like to have it in my car! :D:D

  • @evilek its Chong

  • @evilek - It's a Chong action figure, he originally came with two accessories - a pair of drumsticks, and a fatty. I gave him the upgrade to bass.

  • @BassGuitarMag Thanks, I must find it somehow in store in my country - it's great! :)

  • Great! As always Ed.

  • Really wonderful playing Ed. It is a pleasure to watch you workout on the bass.

  • I need that 6 string! What model is it?

  • @killmeandit - Ken Smith 6GN

  • Yay, the Genz Benz review wasn't a one off :)

  • @bass5445 - There are a few things coming up soon, but it's probably going to slow down again. If you want more videos, email your favorite companies and tell them to hire the Bass Whisperer to demo their stuff!

  • First? I am a loser...... sounds awesome btw!
