  • I have to agrea with you with the 3D, although I enjoied Coraline, the 3D feature p#ssed me off. It never seemed to work for me on the tv screen, I don't know why.

  • Yeah I watched this film recently (I got it for Xmas) and I agree I don't think it's a film for young children. I'm 13 and in my opinion, it's a 10 years+ deal. It's rated PG in the UK, but I think if they weren't careful it could have been a 12 (meaning you have to be 12 or over to see it).

:( I didn't see it in 3D I'm afraid, but it was still very enjoyable without being in 3D. Great review btw!

  • remember the classic animated films? Pinocchio, or Snow White? they were just as scary so I just think the industry has over soften animated films recently...I mean, the film is about bravery and thus there has to be something truly threatening to the main character...

  • Just ordered the DVD of this. I'm sad to have missed it at the cinema, the polarized light glasses are far, far better, but I still think It'll be enjoyable to watch it with the red and blue glasses.

  • totally agree lol i told my sis not to watch it and she didnt listen and im not exagerating here she was so scaried she slept with my mom for 3 weeks lol

    i told her so!!!!

  • man you say up doesn't look amazing? it looks gorgeous!!!

  • Coraline wasnt anything like the book. with added scenes, another NEW charactor, changes to a bunch of scenes, and even turned Other Mother into a SPIDER. it couldnt work for me in movie format

  • THANL YOU FURY I LOVED THIS FILM.i loved it more than any thing disney has done in the past 10 years and anything pixar has ever done and i wouldnt have seen it without you thanks

  • to say dragon ball if you ask my i was a BIG BIG dragon ball Z fan and after watching the trailer for that movie i think i was ready to throw up

  • this movie was pretty surreal...I loved it!

  • Fury you've got a SON? whoa! I didn't expect that! you just sound so young.

  • I'm not that old!

  • sorry if I sounded like that. I meant that as a compliment!

  • heheh, I know dude it's all good, yeah I got a little man running around. you've seen my wall-E review? he's on there

  • My fiance is actually watching this with her sisters in the movie theater right now.

I was not, and still am not a fan of this movie, So I'll take a pass on it.

  • Dang, I rode that ride! At one point it freaked me out too! But in the end it opened up into a store with interactive imagination activities in it, and I thought it was fun. But the ride was pretty freaky in the end.

  • I just saw this and loved it. unfortunately, my theater didn't show it in 3D, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the film.

  • Im so disappointed that "Up" will be in 3D I think this one might be a fail, I mean considering that it has to live up (no pun intended) to Wall-E isnt gonna make it easy, and also considering that this director made "Cars" I have low expectations for this one...

  • I agree. It looks alright (I thought that "Cars" was alright) but something about it is just "bleh" I think that the score was pretty awesome though! I know I'm going to see it but there is just something about it that looks well... decent.

  • Your beginning intro was exactly how I experienced my first trip to Epcot. :) Coraline was a GREAT movie! Taken and Coraline have been two GREAT movies and they were released only in the first 2 months! I have to agree with Rogert Ebert, I like 3D and I think it's cool but if you notice movies that are coming out in the next couple of years are ALL in digital 3D. Most of these movies don't need to be in 3D but this one needs to be. It's just awesome!

  • lol sell your soul

  • Indeed an amazing 3-d film. Henrey Selleck is great and Coraline is so close to Nightmare for me.

The only thing I thought was a bit too odd was the two old ladies dancing.

  • I like Beowulf in 3d... a lot!!!

  • I liked it...

It was definitely worth the use of my movie pass and yes, I would recommend it...

  • i knew this movie was going to be a stand out film just from the previews. i have yet to see it, but its next on my list. i some how get the feeling that im going to be wowed again like i was with Wall-E and im usually extremely hard on animated films.

  • This is what I love about Fury of the Film Fan and his reviews. Normally this movie would have gone unnoticed on my radar.

Just like Charlie Barlett, just like The Living and the Dead, just like City of Men and just like Gran Torino.

Great movies that aren't as widely released on my country.

So thank you Fury, and hurry up with the review for The Wrestler

  • oh WOW, I loved the book Coraline, I didn't even KNOW there was a movie out!

I really. Need. To not. Not. Have a TV.

I keep not knowing awesome stuff happens until it happens.

    ...

yeah. You know what I mean.

Excellent, the new format is growing on me. :)

  • Go see it. It is phenominal. Try to find it in 3D at your local theaters. You will not be sorry. It's not 3D in the sense that shit is flying at you... it makes you feel like you are within the film. I couldn't believe you great it was.

  • The great Roger Ebert... Gained a whole lot of respect from that line...

  • the only reason ur eyes weren't strained because the 3D glasses weren't red and blue it was just some sun glasses

  • a stop-motion animated 3D movie?

    that sounds creepy O_o

  • this sounds good i love these kind of films and pans laberinth for kids hells yh im gonna go see it when it comes out in england

  • my first god 3d movie was open season. open season 3d was an amazing expirience. since then the only good 3d ive seen was meet the robinsons. i did want to see night before christmas but i missed that one in 3d. but if you throw just the right amount of creepy into a 3d its excelent. i remember when i saw fantasia 3d their was one moment when it got really dark and you go flying at these monkeys with hammers and it really scared me i almost hit the floor because i was totally not expecting it.

  • Oregon rules!!

  • what did you guys think of the punisher: warzone?

    imo

it wasnt a masterpiece or anything, but if you want a good laugh go see it.

  • I heard My bloody valentine 3D was good too

  • No, it wasn't that good

  • I meant My bloody valentine BTW

  • The 3-d effects made it cool but the movie was stupid.

  • (Mournfully) I've been dying to see this movie, truly, but thanks to time constraints haven't had the chance. I truly do hope that later I get a chance to see this movie, as it looks superb.

  • Dude, I can't wait to see this :D

  • Doesn't come out in England until May. At least we Brits saw Quantum of Solace before you guy's!

  • Saw this with my little 11 year old sister. She loved it and I thought it was good too!

  • I saw it, it was FREAKING AMAZING! I just wish that it was promoted as a much scarier movie than what audiences were given. I read the book, yeah it was disturbing but so what? The movie still looked awesome! I took my younger brother to see it (BIG MISTAKE!) When you first see the witch in 3-D lunging at you, all the little kids were screaming. Oh well, this movie was still REALLY good though! I just wish it was promoted as a scary movie instead of an action fantasy.

  • I love dakota fanning.

I don't care how creepy it makes me.

  • i dont but i MUST see this movie!

  • Great Review

  • Wasn't planning to see this, but after this review I am going to see it

  • I read the novella :) Its was good...I will be catching this on 3D soon. =]

  • FuryoftheFilmFan theres going to be another movie that'll make you say "WOW" by the end of the movie. And it's coming out 3.6.9! :D Hey Fury can you make a video on your opinions of the upcoming Watchmen movie?

  • You know, I'm used to your new format now. Its great! It really has the feel of being in a cinema and also the advertising is a great idea. Hopefully I'll send you mine soon. :)

    Great review Fury! :P

  • Wow, terrific review Fury! I was planning on going to the theater with my girlfriend today, so I might just go see this with her. It sounds like an amazing movie, at least for you to give it the gold fury award =p

BTW, did you get the e-mail with my add? =/

  • I double checked my list here and I don't see your ad. Send it again and attach the link to your site.how big was the ad?

  • Hmm...I didn't attach it, rather I sent a link via Mediafire. It was...kind of a long add, about 30 seconds or so, but I made it so it could be easily cut down to about 22 seconds or so. I can send you the link via PM if you'd like!

  • I love Ebert. And I freakin' miss Siskel. But anyway...

I've really been wanting to see this. Looks really interesting. AND you're giving it a gold, so I feel even more compelled.

  • Looks like I've finally found a new one for my collection. Can't wait to see it. Probably won't be near the same on DVD but still... most likely worth it. And though there've been other movies by Gaiman, this one actually looks like the best one by far.

  • great review.

  • Wait... wait... wait...

You're telling me... that they took a good book... made by a great author..

And turned it into a... good movie?

Wow, I''m impressed. I hope more Gaiman books get film-ified.

  • But is it better than Wall-E?????oh yea, I got ya there!

  • Coraline vs Wall-E. I don't think I'm ready =)

  • Muahhahahaahaahahahaahahahaaha!!!

    I Win!

    Flawless Victory

  • Excellent review!

  • I agree with the thoughts on 3-D. I own two movies in 3-D, one because I was young and stupid, the other came with the series (Elm Street 6, BTW) But I have always disliked 3-D for the reason it destroys the barrier of movie by becoming "Interactive" and showing the actors going "Look at my cat in 3-D!" It's unconvincing, and the actors don't sell it well by the fact they are telling you in acting into it, not acting against it. Still, Coraline looks great. I really want to see it.

  • Pixar has a knack for releasing subpar teasers only to blow us away with how great the film actually is.

  • would it be ok for an eight year old?

  • tough call, it's pretty creepy. I saw at least 2 parent leave with their kids and they didn't look small. again it's not that anything SCARES kids its the whole mood of the film. very brooding and I think kids pick up on that more than parents give them credit for

  • I'm gonna see this Sunday and I bet this movie is as good as you say it is!

  • hmm i think i'll go see this one sounds....epic
