I feel as though, artistically, this was the strongest performance of their career. In my opinion, their speed, lines, crispness, attention to detail, etc. deteriorated greatly toward 1984. FergusMcDopey, the ISU limited the # of throws in a program to 2 in 1989. Before that, pairs routinely performed 3 throws (curiously, though, not the Soviets!).

What a powerful performance. Agree about some of the dodgy music but thought they interpreted the slow piece from 'Midnight Express' very well. East German skaters ~(apart from Liebchen Katarina) were more athletic than artistic but even in 1982, this was a very high technical performance.
