Yes, they're the worse when it comes to that. On temp assignments, a supervisor can release you for the silliest reasons without any kind of explanation and some recruiters have the nerve to get an attitude with you, thinking you may have done something in order to get fired, smh

in the 1990's US, temp and staffing agencies were the only places recruiting for jobs I was qualified for right out of college. They screened job seekers for bad credit and coming from the wrong neighborhoods, even if the job had nothing to do with finance. However, they did send me to low paying factory jobs. They were there to keep the "poor" in America from getting too uppity by using that education they put themselves in debt for.
There's plenty of people here in America that are working in jobs that they don't really want. If given the choice plenty would opt out and take other jobs, but in our capitalist economy where money is valued more than people and lives. We have no choice but to remain and toil endlessly for dollars and cents.

Well...in most cases (not all), we feel empowered when we earn money via work than via government packages -- as long as the work isn't too gruelling (we aren't robots) and the pay is reasonable and sound.

@CurtHowland it's hard to realize something is bad when it portrays itself as really really good for you. A lot of regulation is sold as helping to protect workers, and what worker would snort at something like that? That lack of foresight is the halmark of so many democratic societies, where misguided attempts to mold the markets to "work for the welfare of the people" backfire in what, in hindsight, are fairly obvious ways. But to get past that initial reaction, it takes something few have.
This is a big problem because it lowers wages across the whole jobs market spectrum (with the top earners enjoying their usual immunity to such matters). The government is probably interested in having this happen anyway, because while on the one hand their existing laws give the impression that the state cares about its people, on the other hand the loopholes ensure that India is still a good cheap-labour destination for foreign companies and their much beloved dollars.

here in New Zealand temping agencies get more and more work for themselves as workers are employed under temp contracts, leaving many employees exploited through the fear of losing their jobs at any moment, also temp workers get paid less and are excluded from many benefits workers with a contract get. It is of concern that over the last ten or so years the float of temporary worker has increased up to 50% in some work places, with workers being on a temporary contracts for 3 years or more.
This idea of any job being better then no job is an old lie that people who pay people very little to do things they deem is benefit their status. No job is better than a job that does not help you progress. without a job you can grow and raise your own food. Build your own homes and feed your Family. And sell what you don't need to buy things you do. But some where down the line we have been tricked into doing none of these things for ourselves and jumping into the rat race.

Temp agencies have for the most part destroyed the resumes of many many people in my town, they hire and fire without thought for the employee and use the temp agency loopholes to circumvent labour laws here in Canada, it has become an epidemic in Ontario as temp agencies are the number one employer here, they have made the labour laws a joke and pointless as there is little to no protection for workers here.

A lot of regulation is sold as helping to protect workers, and what worker would snort at something like that? That lack of foresight is the halmark of so many democratic societies, where misguided attempts to mold the markets to "work for the welfare of the people" backfire in what, in hindsight, are fairly obvious ways. But to get past that initial reaction, it takes something few have.

This is a big problem because it lowers wages across the whole jobs market spectrum (with the top earners enjoying their usual immunity to such matters). The government is probably interested in having this happen anyway, because while on the one hand their existing laws give the impression that the state cares about its people, on the other hand the loopholes ensure that India is still a good cheap-labour destination for foreign companies and their much beloved dollars.

here in New Zealand temping agencies get more and more work for themselves as workers are employed under temp contracts, leaving many employees exploited through the fear of losing their jobs at any moment, also temp workers get paid less and are excluded from many benefits workers with a contract get. It is of concern that over the last ten or so years the float of temporary worker has increased up to 50% in some work places, with workers being on a temporary contracts for 3 years or more.

Indian "employers" where hiring people to do work and when it got close to having to give a raise or make that person a full time worker they would fire them. This also had intended consequences. Indeed, any job is better than no job. But an employer that treats his employees not good enough will lose his employees to his competitors, and go bankrupt. That is not the case now, but that's because of (labor) laws which have the (un)intended consequence of severely restricting competition.
