Really? This is a Premium New Game where I got all the special rewards for the completion lists. When you get those, you get a text from Sayama in the Japanese version. Did they cut those?

For some reason when you start Premium New Game, it always forces you to get those texts right at the beginning if you completed 'em before. It's like that in 4, too.

I started a premium new game, but without the rewards from the completion lists, so that's probably why I didn't get any texts from Sayama.

Well the U.S. release of Yakuza 4 is quite a ways off (like 9 months or so, I think?), so we'll know then! When they announced it a month or so ago, though, they claimed to keep the clubs in, so hopefully they've kept them this time.

Well, if you played Yakuza 2, and then you play this game, you can see that they did improve it a lot. But if you didn't really like Yakuza 2, this game is similar enough that you won't like Yakuza 3, definitely.

Kenzan!, which wasn't released in the West, is pretty different, and so is #4, which hasn't been released yet. But Yakuza, Yakuza 2, and Yakuza 3 are pretty similar in terms of setting and characters.

Naw, it's really not like GTA. You can't interact with everyone on the street...you can't even attack unless you're in action mode! It's more like an RPG, where random battles are handled through brawling like Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Def Jam, etc.

This game was great in the Japanese version. I understand some 20% of the game was cut for the U.S...but nothing much was removed from the main story. I think it's got less replay because there's less side stuff to complete. Some of the stuff reportedly removed was very time consuming.

But I bet it's still great and fun to replay and get 100% in.

Oh and I'm doing a walkthrough for 4, just beat it and I'm almost to 100% myself, then I'll start on the FAQ!

Heh, well I actually did keep a couple, but YouTube blocked those videos as copyright infringement against SEGA. I filled out some kind of thing to contest, and those two videos are up, but it's a hassle. The Kenzan ones, I could leave the cut scenes in, for some weird reason.

This game is so Japanese! When I played the demo it was like I'm back in Japan, what people are wearing,how building look, the names of the shops..Everything! But I don't like the ultra 70' Disco costumes, they're just weird!

Yeah, they were! Kenzan! and 3 are better gameplaywise. But 3's story isn't as good as the ones in the first two games. It's still good tho'.

I think the 1st game had the best story, 2nd one had a story slightly not as good as the 1st but improved gameplay, Kenzan! had a great story that rivas the 1st game's and even more improved gameplay, and 3 really nailed the gameplay but the story suffered a bit.

I hope #4 improves everything even more!

Well, the slim ain't as expensive as the old PS3's. Plus it comes with free online and BluRay, so I figure it's about the same as the 360 anyway, once you load it up with all its goodies.

But...I dunno. The Western release of this game hasn't been announced yet, but 1UP seems to feel it's happening. So, maybe you have time to save up your money, heh =)

Nah, Sega has a hell of lot more to work with the PS3 so they can model her better. I actually liked her better in Ryu 3..I don't know, I thought the girls looked old in 1-2.

They explain why she looks different, which is funny. Apparently, she dieted and lost some weight.

Too bad we only see her in this scene! She also sends you the "hey, way to go, broseph" notes when you finish off completion lists, which is a nice touch.

I kinda liked it better in Kenzan!, tho', where various people in the game would send you the notes.

To get the demo, you have to create a Japanese PSN account. It's not as complicated as it sounds--just give them a fake address when it asks for a street address.

There are probably videos on how to set that up somewhere around here.

Use your new Japanese account and go to the PlayStation Store. Go to the bottom (さがす) and choose the "Ra" line (all the way on the left, third row from the top, ら). The second one from the left on the top row, once you've chosen "Ra," is "Ri" (り).

Go in "Ri" and it'll be all the way on the left of the third row from the top. You'll see Kiryuu smoking a cigarette with the 龍が如く3 logo. Select and download it and enjoy!

It's actually a better demo than Kenzan! had! You basically play through the end of Chapter 4 and the beginning of Chapter 5, and you can wander around in Kamuro and stuff. Kenzan! showcased the club girls and fighting, but the fighting was disjointed from scene to scene.
