Great refreshing look on the outside. But I really think the interior is not as flashy. VW always stick to their traditional designs and add more cosmetics and a little bit of gadgets to the new car, rather than starting from scratch for a totally new interior. Not as exciting in the inside.

poi il desine della A3 e ormai datato da 6 anni ormai mi sa che tra un po lanciano anche la nuova A3 con una nuova linea, li poi si potrà tornare a discutere di quale sia la piu bella

I have now driven the Mito 1.4 155hp and the Scirocco 1.4 160hp (in Portugal they cost practically the same and I was in doubt about which one I would buy). The Mito is good, but the Scirocco is in another league. For the same money (€1.500 difference...), there are no second thoughts. The suspension (DCC), the steering, the engine, the interior quality, the rear seats space and the gearbox are a lot better in the Scirocco. The whole VW feels more premium.

Hmm... About the power, it has 5 more hp than Alfa, but power to weight ratio is bigger in Alfa... About the reliability I don´t know. I owned a Lupo for 7 years and the airbag indicator light was always on, the electric windows never worked properly (VW could never fix these problems) and because the engine was Skoda, it did 10L/100km. My father had a Touareg and the electric system was also sh**.

I think VW is off on the decission not to bring it to North America. I purchased a new GTI for my wife and I would love to buy the Scirocco for myself. The scirocco was my first VW (78) and I would love the chance to own one again. Because of the lack of choice I'm thinking about going back to Audi for my new car.. Sorry VW! (GTI is awesome BTW, just don't want 2 of them)

I know they do the same 0-100km/h (0-62mph), but are they equally fun to drive? Can the Scirocco 200 hp match the Cooper S? I'd much rather have this car than that golf/rabbit caca. This says sexy fun money and the gti says fat hippy clown car. Americans tend not to like hatches but this one could be that other hot hatch to choose from other than the Mini. Hopfully when Ford introduces its Capri. im seeing scirocco build/assembley in autoeuropa factory, and its great! this car is a complete supercar with enormous quality test technology, in live its very wide and low, interior is almost equal at VW EOS, the best colour in my opinion is red and purple, grey is great too. maybe i can send some photographs.

Complete brain meltdown at Volkswagen... the IROC concept car had a stunningly beautiful grille, but the production car looks like a Golf humped a New Beetle and had a retard baby. And what's with the interior? It's basically the outdated Eos interior from 2006, which in turn was a subtle makeover of the antiquated Golf V interior from 2003. Yeah, THAT's what we all want, a 2009 car with an interior that says welcome to 2003.

This is why design decisions must never be taken by committees!

Over half the GTI sales in the USA are the 4-door model so obviously people buy it for the practicality. People would buy the Scirocco more as a "style over substance" car, and if it came to the US with the TDI engines I know it wouldn't hurt the GTI (since the GTI has no diesel option). I'm sorry, but I've had four SCIROCCO's and this new thing just looks like a CIVIC to me. I truly wish it didn't, but it does. And, from what I'm hearing and reading, it looks like anything but a REAL 'Rocco to a lot of other loyal Type 53 & 53B purists as well. It's almost as if the VW design crew that drew this car up had never seen one of the Mk1 or Mk2's. I know the last SCIROCCO came off the line in 1992, but Volkswagen should still have a couple examples in their museum ;-P

this is the gti version, there's gonna be a range of 1.4 turbo engines, and a 2.0 tdi version, an r32 version is being talked about, but for the minute the 2.0 in this car is the only one available, taken straight from the golf gti.
