Aww man, this tune takes me back in time to when I was fifteen and full of hormones like few other tunes... Back when I wore my hair in curtains and had a penchant for tie-dyed t-shirts lool :-DDD
This was the only decent tune on their album, for me. Funnily enough i downloaded the demo of their aborted second record about 3 months ago and it was much, much better. I love the riff on this but the guitar solo at the end has none of the soul that, say, I Am The Resurrection had.
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law (AL I:40) and
Love is the law, love under will (AL I:57).
The central goal of a Thelemite (as adherents refer to themselves) is to discover and perform his or her True Will, which is generally defined as the innermost Nature or proper life course of the individual. The techniques used to achieve this goal fall under the heading of Magick.
Well... It looks like i'm a thelemite who practices magick, then. lol And I always thought of myself as slightly shamanic... Ah, you learn something new every day ;-)
pinhead your a fuck witt! john squires was fucking ace!!! as if the roses would have done what they did without him!!..... and this track lame??? squires guitar solo is fucking bliss! your a cock!!

This track is a good example of the times when record companies had too much money on their hands. This is soooo lame! The only reason they are still in (some) people's mind is The Stone Roses.
maybe I am, but instead of slagging me off like this. CONVINCE me why this isn't anything else then mediocre. If Roses had written this in 1988,1989 or whatever it would not ended up as a B'side even.
His guitar work with the Roses is the same way if you listen for it. It's just mixed/arranged more subtly. Seahorses was a different sound. That's all.
The singer, Chris Helme and bass player are now in the Yards. They are playing at the Newcastle Academy on the 27th Nov 2009 and doing a set of Seahorses songs. I played the guitar on Love is the Law last time they were there. Check my Vids.
Eh. Not really. Each member contributed something special. I'd imagine based on they're work post-Roses that the songwriting was a 80/20 kind of thing. Ian can carry a tune, but John is a proper musician and artist.
@ThereIsARain Not 80/20 well for the Second album in jOHNS favour but b4 it was 50/50, both are not as good without the other like MORRISEY/MARR, LENNON/McCartney, but Lyrics wise BROWN has the edge! most of the Lyrics come from him B4!
Fuck ya Led Zep this is a masterclass in rock, story telling lyrics and top quality guitar work, thank fuck for tunes like this in a sterile world of contempory bollocks.

dont get me wrong, i love squires soloing,
but it just seems a bit overkill? complete contrast
to the roses. his work with the seahorses
lost all its imagination.

i had a roommate who derided this solo as being too close to Love Spreads. I disagreed with him, but I can see some similarity.

I am sure THE SEAHORSES is an anagram for He Hates Roses, due to the bad feeling that ran through the roses when Squire left the band.
