It's a leap from saying if it's natural to it's morally and ethically desirable. Infanticide is widespread in the animal kingdom. To jump from that to say it is desirable makes no sense. We shouldn't be using animals to craft moral and social policies for the kinds of human societies we want to live in. Animals don't take care of the elderly. I don't particularly think that should be a platform for closing down nursing homes.

Exclusively homosexual behavior, among animals, is extremely rare, suggesting that animals are simply not mindful of sexual propriety as are humans. They tend to engage in this behavior when the opposite sex is not available. Another interpretation, is that pathological behavior exists in animals as well as in humans. Even if determined to be genetically based (which, to date, has not been determined) this does not make a case for "naturalness" any more than, say, genetically based diseases.

The mere appearance of same gender sexual activity among animals does nothing to address the moral question of homosexuality in humans. Only for those who would beg the question as to the moral stature of humans (that we have no divine nature or objective moral code) can this serve to bolster the claim of the legitimacy of homosexuality. There are many behaviors in the animal kingdom that, if performed by humans, would be considered wrong or pathological. Rape is common in the animal kingdom.

First of all the people who put this together have an agenda, a gay one, in my opinion. So I doubt that this is impartial and objective. Secondly, animals don't have the emotional ties within sex the way humans do. Thirdly, animals sometimes eat their young. Does that mean it would be acceptable or normal for some people to do the same? Fourthly, homosexuality isn't biological. If it was, gay men wouldn't produce sperm and lesbians wouldn't menstruate. I have a gay brother-in-law and since I've worked around entertainment most of my life, have had many gay friends and coworkers. My mother is a hairdresser and I've dated several hairdressers (female), so I've been around more openly gay people than most straights have. FYI: Just because animals do something (like cannibalism, infanticide, etc.), doesn't make it normal for humans to do it. If (I say IF) homosexuality WAS genetic (no proof yet), then it's a mutation, not "normal" or natural.

There has to be a lot of abnormal in your world but does that mean that homosexuals don't have to have equal rights like all your other abnormal? @MB3Productions My point is, that no one will be able to prove whether homosexuality is abnormal. We simply have no way of knowing. To procreate, heterosexual behaviour needs to be displayed in most species, which is "normal". But how can you say that homosexuality isn't normal just because it doesn't result in procreation?

@IDioGenesis Not only that, but most of those commments betray the fact that these people lack even a basic understanding of biology or science - even at a high school level.
People like Sarah Palin who probably haven't spent an hour reading a REAL science textbook about evolution trust some preacher who says "creationism" is the "truth" and she thinks she has the right to push some law to impose her ignorance on everybody else by banning accurate science and factual books from classrooms.

I understand that for people who have had a poor!/low education may believe being homosexual is a disease. But the fact is these people usually are religious. So allow me to ask: Doesn't God say that human should love and not hate and that we are nobody to judge? If homosexuals are going to hell, who are we to judge them before judgement day? Do you consider yourselves gods? I am NOT gay and i DON'T like to see homosexuals kissing or wtsv, but I respect them. Religion is about LOVE.

I think why people are using this in their arguments isn't about 'they can do it so we can do it too' or an argument of how they think vs what we think. It's simply pointing out that human homosexuality is not a freak of nature. Be it for different reasons than us, it still shows that when hundreds of other species beside us practice homosexuality, you can't call humans being gay a perversion of nature.

Wether something is natural or not does not have anything to do with morality or ethics. Predation is natural, alot of animals eat other animals to survive. Wether it is ethical to kill animals for food comes down to the individiual and society. This whole homosexuality argument going on in the world boils down to one side arguing that people are all attracted to the opposite gender and for some reason choose to be with the same gender and this is bad for society.

no the use of homosexual instances in nature to advance, rather non-scientifically, the theory that homosexual behavior is natural and intrinsic. what i was arguing is that there are far more instances of rape in the animal kingdom than there are of reciprocal gay behaviour. studies suggest that dominance is a more important factor than attraction in 'gay' animals. also, how many of these animals refuse or cannot have intercourse with a female of their species???
