Wow this is great! I saw them in '78 or thereabouts at the old Marquee in Wardour Street. Wilko barely had room to move on that tiny stage and with the low ceiling (it was a basement basically) the energy was amazing, man the place was bouncing!. Two hours of solid sweaty shit kicking boogaloo! One of the best gigs I ever went to just for the sheer fun of it all! Thanks for the upload!
@allblue3 YW - going to do them again as individual songs incl.a couple of others. There was a tour which ended with four (thurs-sun) at The Marquee. It was summer and well sweaty - huge industrial fans on the stage which just blasted air at us. Lemmy got up one night, got crazy......
@gyrofoam1 Great! If I can remember back all those years ago I went on the first night. I wasn't a big Wilko fan or anything, I'd seen Feelgood a couple of times but back in those days there was always fifty or so gigs on every night in London so we'd just pick one from Time Out and head down there. I've forgotten most of them, but that Solid Senders gig at the Marquee was just such a good night I still remember it! Yeah, it was sweaty all right! Thanks again for the uploads!
the guitar, is part of that guy's f**kin hand's!,...beautiful, seen wilko live in 71, wot can i say, "guitar player",... well that's now a matter of opinion,lol.................................brill post though!
I've never understood why tv directors got the cameras to do close-ups on Wilko when he was doing his thing in the solo's - if they kept the view back a bit we'd get a better picture of what he was doing! Wilko was on absolutely top form back then.
I still use an HH IC100 as my guitar amp, great sound.
@slideharp1 Alan Platt was a dear and close friend of mine until his untimely death in 2005. In 1992 he returned to his native Scotland and played in various pub bands. He loved playing and anything to do with rocknroll. Sadly missed
@rm009z0858 We used to play with other people in sessions, jams etc. The best drummer I've played with in U.K. A great friend and close band-mate - used to have the room in stitches when he was on a roll.
@slideharp1 Yeah, a funny and intelligent guy. He played in our theatre company band at the Edinburgh Festival and I became his best mate in his hometown of East Kilbride. He also played in my mates band and was at his happiest playing in a band. Many a booze up and many happy days spent with Alan. He really missed his London days and was full of rock n roll stories from the past. Alas, booze became a problem for him but he won over it shortly before his death. A good actor as well. I miss him
this is a real treat.....love the rhythm the whole band provides....would have loved to have been there.....wicked piano break in "Everybodiy's Carrying a Gun"...love it!
Fantastic stuff, I can't believe we've waited something like twenty-three years to finally see this - the whole gig should've been out as a DVD years ago! Thanks for putting this up, looking forward to more...
