Since I have to go to sleep now, I probably won't respond for about 9 hours. Oh, and when I tried Mupen64 0.5, I get a bug when I start a rom: the emulator pauses, then freezes. Otherwise I could've probably used that to record =/
bzb95 just replied to me, and he fixed the problem. I had to right click Mupen64k 0.7.9 and go to Properties, and under Compatibility click Disable Windows Desktop Composition.
I have a laptop running Vista. I cannot tell you where to acquire a ROM, because it is illegal to distribute them. Once you have downloaded the ROM, simply go File, Open ROM, and search for the ROM on your hard-drive.

Right click the Mupen64k icon, go properties then go to the Compatibility tab.
Tick the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:" square.
Make sure it's "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"
Try to record now and if it doesn't work contact me again.
