what do u mean by spiritual and physical death? The Bible is clear that when we die we die! our physical bodies go back to dust and our spirits go back to God who gave it. The Bible teaches that the spirit is the breath of life. eternal suffering in hell is not Biblical teaching. he quoted matt. 25:46 and he said eternal punishing! the textt says eternal punishemnt! it does NOT say that the act is eternal! but the result of the punishment is eternal which is that u will not be with God
The context of the chapter seems to talk about physical death. Or in v.3-13 are we baptized into God's "spiritual death?" In v.21 it talks about sins we're ashamed of leading to death which is pragmatically obvious.
In chapter 7 (v.1-6) it gives an example of someone bound by the Law being released from legal consequence because they've died. If Christ died for me, who will yet impute sin? I don't pursue sin because it doesn't benefit me. (1 Cor. 6:12)
Paul is addressing the Jews in the Roman church during Romans 6. I think it would be odd for Paul to be speaking about a concept of spiritual death here. Jews linked sins with exile, physical pain, and physical death. Paul didn't stop and say "by the way, when I talk about death here, I am talking about a different death than you commonly talk about".
Good morning Matt, question, Do you think a real converted Christian can for a time break fellowship with God by living in rebellion (willful pre-meditated sinning) then just come back to God, say he's sorry and just carry on?
@truth4U2C yes... and no. We all do that to some extent. But sorrow isn't the solution, repentance is. "For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but the sorrow of the world produces death," (2 Cor. 7:10).
I believe in Preservation of the Saints, therefore a true believer may go astray for a little while, but they will always come back to the LORD and forever remain there. Jesus said that no one can snatch his sheep from his hand, and that his sheep will never perish. (John 10:28) I lived in rebellion against God for a little while, but that Irresistible Grace that the Father showed me had me drawn right back to him, and I no longer live in disobedience.
@RoyMustang289 Totally Agree....but this Woman's vacatoin from righousness is far more then a little while, So we are loving her with Matthew 18, in hopes that she comes to true repentance, and then becomes Born again for real, and not continue being a false convert. Peace

So does Jesus pay for sins or not?
