how much did you pay?I cant even hear it at a low rpm range,and barely from a high rpm range.You might want to think about cutting out the cats.Also you probably get more sound out of a single 4 or 3 inch pipe then duals no cats as well.I would buy a header and down pipe for that.NT though
@daveyhavoksays I ordered the mufflers through Mad Hatter muffler (also Meineke could do it) They were about $100 a piece and they got them from Tampa, called Thunderbolt with a 4" polished and angled tip. The muffler guy custom built a Y pipe to the stock mid pipe and cats. I was gonna delete the cats but it's illegal here so i couldn't. It's just a little louder than stock, but much much deeper, doesn't sound like a honda though, I get props all the time in person.
quick question ... i see that the regular 2006 GT model ... wouldn't have the spot for the extra exhaust. How did you manage to get the 2nd exhaust in. It almost looks as if you cut the whole bottom section out to be even. There are 3 notches in the bottom of the rear. One has the .. exhaust already there on the regular GT model. Yours it looks like you cut that notch out where it surrounded the exhaust then cut all the way across. Just curious. Thankz, As i might be buying a 2006 Eclipse GT :D
@blazncaczn hey man I'm the owner of the black eclipse in the video, I actually wanted to cut the bottom out like you said, but couldn't find a body shop willing to do it so....I just bought a new bumper, 2009-2011 bumpers already have the cut out. Mitsubishi saved money by only I ordered mine from Mitsubishi and the body shop took the notch out for me and then I went to the exhaust shop after getting it painted. Hope that helps, good luck!

As far s CAI, they make the bypass valve to keep water out, I don't have one on my Z and it's a true CAI with the piping down by the grill, I've never had any issues and it does see quite a bit of rain. The bypass does work from what I hear, but looses a few hp. Evo X are nice, not quite as quick as the Evo VI V which were around 4.7 0-60. 5.2 is about the quickest stock Evo X time, but read about a couple beefier models coming soon. zdawg6274 my wheels are Enkei, stock '09 GT wheels.
Oh and we don't have too much rain here u c. It's rained like 5 times so far this winter....we have our air conditioners on from last week. It can get cold but we haven't felt much of it yet and we aren't likely to either coz temp r increasing.

hi there. Im from Kuwait and ive had my eclipse GT 2009 (automatic) for just over a year. Im not into modifying and stuff but i just need a few extra HP's to take on 350z's :) . Its not that bad but i have too much wheel spin at the start and therefore they get the upper hand. Anyway can a CAI be fitted? And how much HP's can i expect to gain? Oh and eclipse's in the middleast are advertised to having 280HP not 265HP...not sure why.
In addition the the black Eclipse in the video I also own a Blue 350z. I love both cars as they're unique in their own ways. The Z's are a bit quicker for a couple reasons and it's not really the hp advantage as much as it is they're aprox 200-300lbs lighter depending on yr and model and they're RWD so they hook up better w/o as much spin. To compensate and be pretty near equal you'll need good tires, CAI, Headers and a good exhaust. Of course the more power u put down the more you'll spin
The 4G Eclipse GT is very receptive to bolt ons w/o tuning, more so than the Z. Import Tuner did a test on the '09 GT 40.4 whp gains and 34.0 lbs tq gains.
My Z isn't stock so the eclipse is still a little slower than it, but with my CAI and custom Dual Exhaust I keep up with stock Z's all day long and still put stuff in my trunk! And that's good enough for me. :)
Hey no problem, glad to help. I have a K&N Typhoon CAI. It's really more of a Short Ram Intake, but it has a heat shield box, so technically it's a CAI, I got the red one and it adds a nice hiss sound when you shift at high rpms, much like a BOV! Dyno's on that show 15whp gains. WIth that and my exhaust setup I'm about 290-295hp at the crank. On average with these cars you can subtract a good 25-30hp from crank to get a rough estimate of what's actually getting to the wheels.
The RIPP Mods Headers add about 23whp when you have CAI and exhaust like the Import Tuner mag test, you'd be 290 whp easily with all of that. I may do the headers eventually, but since it's not my only car and they're about $1,000 I've just stuck with the basic CAI/Exhaust set up for now. My Z is runnin around 320 hp and I'm starting to tinker with it a little on the cosmetic side so I'm putting money into a good set of wheels for that one...
Say around 10hp...and I CAI can be fitted...if I'm not wrong..Kuwait is a hot and humid place...so a CAI would do SO much better on the engine since cold air will be sucked in...however if it rains a lot you gotta watch out from water getting into the engine...I think they sell anti water thingy but idk where...but with cold air i'm sure you can feel the power...I have a Lancer GTS 09 with a SHORT ram intake..and I feel the difference, better throttle response and torque as well...any questions?
sounds good. I noticed you have the appearance package on the black one I have a 07 gt spyder with the package also so did you buy a 09 bumper with the package on it.
Mine black one has an '06 apperance package. However, because of the rear valance part on the rear bumper I wasn't able to cut a hole for the dual exhaust w/o taking that part off. Then the rear wouldn't look as good. So I did order a 2009 bumper and the side flares ('09 rear appearance pkg) for that since they're already ready for duals. The '09 GS and GT actually use the same bumper, but there's a plug for the 2nd exhaust outlet if it's a GS, Mitsubishi saved money there :)

They're the stock tailights covered in a smoked tailight film off ebay. (Same as on the white/silver Eclipse) I put them on both. It's real simple, goes on with water and a squeege and can be taken off and put back on as much as you want. (like a window cling) Usually about $17.99 on ebay. Just type in Smoked Tailight Film. they make them for different types of vehicles not just Eclipse. Cheap mod that make a big difference in apperance w/o sacrificing brake light quality.
Note: both Eclipses in the video are now fitted with the Thunderbold Dual Exhaust Set Up (same as the black one) This video was shot before the 2nd install for a comparo....Thanks Mad Hatter Muffler, you guys rock!

Well, everyone has ideas of what they want to do with their car. This is my car so I chose this route. I was limited though because the 4G Eclipse GT's don't come with Dual Exhaust (til 2009 GT's) and they don't make Dual catback exhaust systems for the earlier models (due to the bumper restrictions) And going custom only cost me $350 for everything, exhaust, y pipe and the build, cheaper than most single cat back systems, with better flow.
@Cloudstrife1188 Something like 5hp, nothing much for the exhaust since it's just a cat back, but the K&N intake was 15 by itself, so with the exhaust it was close to 18-20hp increase. If you really wanna increase hp with bolt ons though go with the RIPP MODS headers, 24whp increase!!!
