  • the backing track sounds like jaco pastorious' the chicken............

  • your sound's always the same ... your guitars sound always the same.. i mean, i like your tone... but you'r try to sell different guitars ... or it is just a big commercial for the Okko diablo?

  • @ale882xxx You are analysing to much... Stop talking.. grab a cold beer in the fredge. Kick your feet up, close your eyes and just listing to this...

  • @ale882xxx i've been listening to Greg for years on youtube....enough to say what i said...

  • @ale882xxx You obviously haven't been listening hard enough is all I can say. I'm presuming he keeps the set up and sound very similar for all his videos to make the only variable in the video the guitar he's playing.

Sometimes the change in tone can be subtle between one guitar and the next (eg one les paul and another), but he's played strat's, tele's, les pauls and 335 style guitars and you are trying to say they all sound exactly the same?

  • Hi my friend...good tone, a question: where do you get this backing track....?

  • Hast Du versucht deinen Okko Diablo unter 18 Volt , wie groß ist der Unterschied ?

    Danke

  • hi, i have you play ibanez 808 tube screamer, i have a visual sound double trouble similar to ibanez overdrive, this okko diablo is similar to those, lot of differences, what do you think ? i am thinking on buying one but not sure if i will get to much difference of what i have, i played through a fender twin reverb and musicman hd65 2x10

  • Ahh the old soapbars!

  • You have a frigging great collection. Do you own a Variax? I own several Les Pauls/Gibsons. Always thought they are most versitile and well made. Recently, I played a Variax and learned the hardway that the wood, shape etc means next to nothing on a guitar. ITs all electronics, hardware and the neck's playability. I turned a Epi Special, two pickup $66 dollar special into a Les Paul.

  • BET BUDDY GUY WOULD LOVE YOUR STUFF,I dont see him doin any better,,maybe a micro better lol...your good dude...id like to see you and billy gibbons do some neat riffs together

  • How did you get the guitar sound so high and bell like? I love this bluesy style, but I don't know how to achieve it. Is it a pedal? Is it an amp setting? What is it?

  • THIS GUY MAKES THE BEST REVIEWS ON YOUTUBE! =D

  • one of the best sounding over drive....baught it but pls let me know how u set it pls!

  • Nice feeling, great licks..congratulations

  • This is awesome...but somehow your tone always sound the same...

  • Dude, your a kickass player, your tone and feel is unbelievable!!!

  • i dont comment on videos on youtube, but you got some interesting licks, i love the jazzy dorian diminished licks you throw in on a blues backtrack, cool style man, its refreshing

  • carved top? looks like a LP-100 vintage sunburst body.. nice guitar tbh:)

  • great guitar... what year is it????

  • @TheJoster33 1996

  • @GregsGuitars hi,gregor, how much do you sell the okko's for.

  • Love the sound of that Okko

  • @jakeizlove though I am sure the Okko contributes to the sound, but I am also sure that Greg's picking technique is just as significant ....IMHO

  • @loanmanjim yes I sell them, just send me a mail

  • @loanmanjim Hi, I can send the Okko (in my opnion it is the best!)

  • great smooth playin' and great sound. I've noticed from your vids that you're a big p-90 gibson les paul fan. I am too. you should try a Duesenberg Starplayer TV they sound really great with their bridge humbucks and neck p-90s

  • What scale are you using? i'm not advanced enough to figure it out myself lol.

  • sorry, I don't know much about scales, but some myxolydian stuff and Major Pentatonic must be in this solo I think. Greg

  • ya sounds like myxo

  • @GregsGuitars ¿?¿?¿?¿

  • man, you look like paul gilbert! or he looks like you, however you prefere it! NICE PLAYING, too!

  • I thought you would do a lot of distorced fast notes, but you just played some unexpected phrases...you're a guitar genius! Nice stuff! Great sound too!

  • Hi, your sound is great in this video.

How did you do to record it?

Does the Video is recorded in the same time with the sound? or separately?

what is your video and sound gear?

    Thank you.

  • have two signals: the line-playback from the computer and the guitaramp, miked with a AKG D-320 B

The 2 signals are going to a cheap Behringer mixing desk Xendix 1002 FX. And a line-out from the mixer (with the two signals) goes direct to the camera. The camera is recording everything at the same time. That's it. I don't use no recording program. I don't do the editing (the camera man Stefan is doing that, I don't know wich programm he is using). All the best, Gregor

  • Ok, thank you very much for your answer!

    It's very nice.

  • were did you get the backing track

  • Would you try and compare the epiphone es335 with Okko Diablo Overdrive against the gibson es335 with the Okko Diablo Overdrive

  • Great sound!!! One of the few on the web with decent clarity...Great tone btw

  • nice, great sound, great playing!

  • Riff88m fuck you XD!! this is a fantastic guitar ... nice :)

  • was the guitar bought with P-90s from the factory? Or where they installed afterwards. I have a 95 Studio though with the 498/490 pair, and the guitar has the same burst as yours. And I have never seen a vintage sunburst Les Paul studio like mine.

  • yes, this was a ltd edition with p-90s

  • I was thinking of buying a Les Paul with P-90's.. so I found this video.... And then immediately bought the guitar! Great sound, great playing.... Thanks for helping me make the decision!

  • Sweet!!!!!!!

  • The Groove is "The Chicken" (J. Pastorious)

  • do you know if i can replace a les paul studio humbucker for a p90??

  • and how about the Bare Knuckle ones? Do you know wether they fit too?

  • have not checked yet

  • would you like too? No hurry though.

  • do u use a stock std diablo or plus od?

  • sometimes the diablo gain+, sometimes the std.

  • Is the diablo + exactly the same as the std except Plus has extra gain? or do they sound diffrent tone wise?. I Want to buy one just need to know which will be best for me. thanks

  • same - plus has extra gain

  • i listened to your main blues tune on your siteyears ago. i could listen to ya all day,, i have a 69 deluxe with fralin p-90s,, the original 90s gave out,, j in k usa

  • Great tones and playing man!

  • Great sounds. Tasty performance. 5 stars.

  • Just the way you play and maybe your gear make all your guitars sound pretty much the same

  • damn you must be a pro with chops like you have -very inspiring and refreshing to hear someone with a good ear for tone and taste !

  • a 1969 Fender Vibrolux reverb

  • Dude you can really play that les paul.Man if i could play half that good i would be a happy man.

  • I've seen all your videos but can I buy that les paul studio from you?

  • I'm sorry, this guitar has been sold

  • The backing track is The Chicken right? XD

Also, the P-90's, are they Gibson or an aftermarket?

  • Ye it is the chicken groove . The pickups are Gibson Historic collection P-90

  • Sounds really good :D

  • Comment removed

  • very nice p 90 sound!

  • best sounding les paul i've ever heard

  • great tone man, i always wanted that sound but in a strat, i guess i have to have it made custom. great playin!

  • Great playing!

I've just discovered your videos. Nice!!!

    It reminds me Robben Ford...

I and (sadly) blocked with pentatonic scales...

Could you give a little advise regarding the playing in this video? Is it the mixolydian mode? Thanks!

  • I'm really sorry, I can't name the scales I'm using but mixolydian and major pentatonic is used for shure. Just listen to trumpet and sax players to find some refreshing new ideas to play on the guitar. All the best, Greg

  • That's something I had been considering... Thanks for the tip.

  • Great playing! Thanks, post more!

  • I love the sound of soapbars.I'd like the get a PRS Soapbar McCarty soon.

  • Alright i have a 1996 les paul studio :D and i am going to replace the pickups, I've been pointed to p 90's many times i like the blues and alot of classic rock and maybe some metal how does it respond to all of this

  • you should perform on late night shows and perhaps get a label. Don't be selfish on keeping all the good tunes to yourself :p

    All the best!

  • Wow, yes! Sweet riffage, smooth and done right. Awesome!

  • Hi. Iam building a LP with P90 (SDuncan) Can you please tell me what kind of pots and capacitor you use on your guitar? Thank

  • I use the stock pots always

  • Hello form BELGIUM !!!

Gregor : You are one of the best player I've ever heard : lots of emotion through your playing !! No superficial notes !

    Max.

  • MMMMMMMM..... TONE!!! awesome dude.

  • thanks a lot. Sorry, I don't know too much about the scales I'm using. Mixolydian for shure, Bluesscales, minor-scales...

  • Okay , So , I'm extremely confused. Because , I let people listen to this video and the Telecaster one. Some picked Gibson , some Fender. My parents said the Fender was sharper. Although , I kind of like the Gibson better cuz its prettier and has a warmer tone , also being the most versatile guitar in the world. So what would you pick?

  • The both sound great, but different! If I could pick only 1 - I would take the Gibson.

  • Most versatile guitar in the world? That's the Gibson ES-345 Lucille - with the Varitone control, it can go as thin as a Strat or it can go fat enough to make a Les Paul look like a Strat.

  • @paulinathediva Whatever SOUNDS the best man, cause at the end of the day it's still for makin music, not for jerkin off to ;)

  • It is a wonderful sound. Is the Lespaul GEM?

  • Great playing. Thank for putting it on.
