Naturally, this is because in the Japanese version they actually DIED here (one by one) rather than simply being captured or whatever shit the american version came up with.
I read on Wiki that Zoicite was actually a man in the Japanese verison same with Fisheye. They took stuff like slapping out cause they were scared in the English verison it would bring on child violience

@samzillia Its not edited she really did slap her. In the US they took a lot of parts away from sailor moon. For example in the real version Sailor Mars slaps Sailor Moon in episode 31. In the US version they just show Mars walking up to Serena then Serena covers her red cheek. They take a lot of the real scenes from the Japanese(Original) version and delete them because it was to racey for American TV at the time. :)

Kind of sad really. The American version makes the characters you could possibly start to like (Haruka, Michiru, Ami, Makoto, ect.) into perfect little versions. Why don't people that dub shows get one thing straight: if you're going to send something that was popular in another country into this one, don't change it. Instead, there's feirce editing. Japan has a smaller crime rate than the USA, so SOMETHING about what they're doing is good!

There's a difference between what's acceptable for kids over there and what's acceptable here.
I agree with what you're saying-- because we're older, we're more interested in that other side, and I believe kids should be exposed to that.
A lot of people in the 90's would disagree, though.
