Rachel owns this song.. she is THE BEST. Not only is her singing voice AMAZING but her speaking voice really captures the voice of Elphaba. Idina has nothing on her!

Vocally she is streets ahead of Kerry Ellis- and I think Ellis is awesome. But in terms of the actual vocals for the songs in Wicked- particularly DF and NGD, well, she just sings them a lot better and is far more ambitious with them.

Simply stated she is fantastic. She is nearly flawless with her accent even if she was allowed to "have it" or whatever, Rachel knew exactly where to and where not to riff, and her charisma on stage and total demand for attention essentially blew me away; it's incredibly obvious how much people enjoy her.

I think in the theatre the actors can't really go over the top with riffing because for people who haven't seen it and do not know the songs, it would be too off putting and confusing.

- considering the music is really quite complicated anyway in terms of key changes and wordiness.

.... as much as I do love Rachels riffing!

Rachel is amazing. She's not allowed to sing like that in the show - it's not her choice not to. They're incredibly strict.

Here she has the freedom to sing as she wants to. She doesn't have to hide her accent and she's allowed to riff away.

I think her riffing is much more like Kerrys than Alexias- i really didnt enjoy Alexia's last night given that she messed up her riff in no good deed (out of beat with the music so much so it sounded bad (also is it me or did she do a half arsed attempt at for good?).Rachel seems to know when to riff and when not to (just something I found- my opinion :)- really cant wait to see Rachel now- will have to book (bank balance isnt going to thank me!!!)

@bethgeal1982 I get where your coming from :) I dont think Alexia is much of a riffer, but it was pretty amazing when she did riff, just the fact shen tried was good enough for me. I dont think she gave it all in For Good too, I just dont see the friendship between Dianne and Alexia that I saw in Kerry and Dianne. And Rachel is fabalous! <3

@KerryEllisFannn Im glad someone else agrees as it is so hard to make any points of view without being completely shot down. There was definately no connection in no good deed between Diane and Alexia (when watching it i simply wanted it over as I felt embarassed)

Also it was quite remarkable that the two understudies got bigger cheers than Alexia at the end (as well as Sabrina Clarke who I am really sad isnt Elphaba now- would it be greedy to wish her and Rachel shared the role?)
