Why is it that theists claim eternal paradise and pleasure for worshiping God while in our human form, but completely denounce pleasure on Earth? In comparison 70 or 80 years is nothing compared to eternity, so why would God care if he is eternal? Post death shouldn't matter. It's a foolish concept made to control the young and comfort the old.
If I saw you doing that, i'd beat the living shit out of you. Good video. It highlights how disgusting the very notion of hell, and a god who would willingly send innocent people there, really is.
If I saw you doing that, i'd beat the living shit out of you. Good video. It highlights how disgusting the very notion of hell, and a god who would willingly send innocent people there, is.
I love your videos, but I think this analogy fails because of a simple fact; ants either lack the capacity to love, or it's too difficult to gauge their love to be able to make the judgement of deciding whether they should receive punishment.
Wow this is awesome! U didn't flood the whole colony? Seems like ur first batch was defective. By flooding them and drowning them you could then start a new one and hopefully they won't sin and worship you.
Excellent video. It's a shame that religious fundamentalists are incapable of using logic and reason to see the great con that they are under. I'm not anti-religion or an atheist per-se, but the god of the bible meets all of the criteria that we use to categorize a psychopath. This god, is merely the projection of man's ego, his fears and his delinquencies - a composite character carefully constructed by equally psychopathic priests in order to control the mind of man, and so control his body.
It just shows that the "God" in the bible is totaly not the real God I myself believe in, a God of Love.. since back then humans saw god as Their own image.. and so they thought he's like them who judges, get angry, punish them & need their recognition.. but as I've learned from the many Near Death Experiences I've read about and heard- people of Today times can show us that the Real God is just pure Love & acceptence.. and this is what we can look forward to& take Responsibily for their lives.
Listen... You are not the " Ant god " and they aren't smart enough to wear clothes. Even if you gave them clothes they would be like "WTF Wierdo!?" and burning them for doing what ants do isn't right. You aren't god. So suck it up!
Well. Uh. Usually your videos help me sleep at night, knowing that there are sane people out there, somewhere. This video... not so much. o_o I think.... I think I might have bad dreams...
If i didn't know why you were doing it I'd assume you were going to eat them. People do eat ants, however, if I knew why you were cooking them I'd think you're crazy.
The significant differences are these: 1. Ants cannot communicate with humans, unlike humans with the Creator. 2. The Creator's words to mankind are designed to make life fulfilling and purposeful (ie. the teacher who posts rules for the classroom designed to enhance students' ability to learn). 3. At no point in time did you love your ants enough to sacrifice yourself for them to have a better life.
@127purereligion the thing about the story is he felt he deserved worship/acknowledgment for providing the ants with lettuce when he was the one who put them in the position to be dependent on him for food in the first place and for the 2 part of your comment the point he was trying to make is god punishing people for eternity for not acknowledging him yet he claims to love them and the 3rd point is your god needed a scapegoat to forgive could he no found another way?
@king78802- 1. If he created the ants and they responded, it might be a different story. A father disciplines his children not because he enjoys it, but because he wants them to be responsible, respectful adults. Children should respect a parent (or God) who cares and sets good guidelines. 2. The world was corrupted by Satan, but God gave a way out. It is up to us to accept it. A generous man could give you a million dollars, but if you never deposit the check, you can't enjoy the results.
@127purereligion 1 when a father discipline his child it because the punishment match the offense and the punishment is temporary hell is eternal and what the average nonbeliever does is not hell worthy what your god punishment for not believing is excessively cruel and no parents should show they deserve respect 2.God created satan knowing he would rebel, god created evil and the rules under what is a sin so it was god fault how the world ended up knowing that most would end up going to hell
@127purereligion And about the rich man analogy in the real world it rich men all claiming to have given me 1,000,000 yet none can prove it all claim and if i dont deposit the check i lose much more .If there was evidence for your god than i would believe he exist
@127purereligion- God created people with free will. What they do with it is their choice. Where they go is their choice as well. When you spend your entire life rejecting God, doesn't it make sense for Him to allow you an existance without Him? The only problem is, you discover what you've asked for all along is not what you thought it'd be.
@127purereligion no one asked to be tortured forever no one wants that your god set the toll for disbelief and what i ask for is evidence do you think it fair that someone who did the exact same things as you is being tortured forever just for not believing ? don't that sound excessively in an earlier comment you compare god to a dad would your dad let you be tortured for eternity for a small transgression
@127purereligion when i was a child i did not want to go to school but my dad made me go because he was more concern with my well being than my freewill and that what a father do he protect his children and try to let his children experience the least amount of pain as possible your god on the other makes hell eternal trying to maximize the amount of pain. love me or go to hell that do not express love or freewill
@king78802- He continually offers the choice. Every time you talk to me about it, every time you think about it, it's a chance to escape the punishment we all deserve. Hell wasn't meant for you. According to the Bible, it was meant for "Satan and his angels". The only way to ultimately get stuck there is by letting Satan run your life and never choosing to reject him and what he stands for.
@127purereligion Choosing between two positive outcomes is still a choice and just as free. Adding the negative consequence of hell is superfluous & capricious. You don't offer a choice. You're issuing an ultimatum. Turn or burn. Any choice made under such circumstances is not free but coerced. It's not moral, but selfishly prudent and "mercenary". Your god must be so unappealing to approach on his own, he needs the scarecrow of hell to drive people to him.
@king78802- You say your dad made you go, but unless he sat through every class with you, you still had the option to run away during the day or hide out in the bathroom. If you had done that, the consequences would be yours to deal with. Sometimes parents do all they can, but children just will not do what is best for themselves. If you had failed a grade from skipping or got suspended for smoking in the bathroom, you would have to face the consequences. Dad's have to follow the rules too.
@127purereligion i was talking about when i was a child not a teenager by then i knew the importance of education i say loving fathers try to minimize the amount of suffering there child bear especially if they can help your god made hell knowing his children who he supposedly loved would go there where they will be tortured forever after they die he punish them for eternity for a finite crime which is cruel & immoral that contradict the statement of a loving god
@king78802- He tried to minimize your suffering by giving you a way out. Rejecting Him isn't a finite crime, it's a continual choice. The worst part of Hell isn't the darkness or pain; it's the absence of God. It's the result of a life that says, "I hate You, You don't matter to me". Parents try to spare their kids, but what happens when that unruly teen becomes an adult felon? One mistake has the power to put you in prison for life. Imagine the power of a lifetime of mistakes.
@127purereligion nonbelievers does not hate your god just provide evidence for him and what happen to the Hindus who never heard of this god the problem is your god claim to be all loving yet sends people to hell for eternity your god is basically saying love me or burn in hell that is petty, narcissistic, childish, and cruel the problem with your god is it does not take the persons actions into account just if you believed in it or not you could be a ted bundy, still go to heaven
@king78802- Since He says the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (perpetually denying Him), then there's a good possibility that people who've never heard of him are in the clear. You can't deny what you don't know, amen? Additionally, actions are very important, not because they are what saves you, but because they provide proof of your commitment. "Faith without works is dead" and "whoever claims to love God, yet hates another person is a liar".
@127purereligion odd because a christian i knew said they were going to hell can you site a specific bible verse
so i can show him and if they already go to heaven why do you try and convert them?the point i was trying to make is a person can spend there life doing immoral actions yet if he on his deathbed accept jesus as his lord and savior he will go to heaven yet a atheist can spend his life trying to help others yet he cant go because he dont believe it really tells alot about gods priority
@king78802- “To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law.”-Romans 5:13 (see also Romans 2:13-15)
“The law” here is in reference to the Law of Moses, including the Ten Commandments. It exists to remind us of our need for something better. The main reason for witnessing to people who’ve never heard about God is to show them how meaningful life can be.
@purereligin We can now understand the reasons mankind invented gods like Poseidon, Jesus, Zeus, etc. For example, Christianity and Islam though not grounded in fact or even logical, can satisfy a need to come to terms with human existence and death
Since you seem to cherish self deception, our ancestors would congratulate you on perpetuating the myths and superstitions they developed. However, for many of us, the spell has been broken and we are just beginning to open our eyes (like a newborn)
@northoforacle- Most of the gods of history were less noble versions of people themselves that they worshipped through orgies and human sacrifices. The God of Christianity calls people to be higher and more noble than they currently are. Modern humans are the only ones arrogant and foolish enough to believe they are the highest beings in existance. Even with the increasing ability of scientists to observe the complexities of our world, they believe nothing exploded into something...by chance.
"The God of Christianity calls people to be higher and more noble than they currently are."
@127purereligion Then he should have created them higher & more noble to begin with. Your religion is nothing but alienation & crawling back to an abusive autocratic super-ego who beats his wife & kids then blames the victims like a rapist who says it's the woman's fault for dressing the wrong way. He gives the rope of free will & calls it a gift, then watches you hang yourself with it & call that love.
@127purereligion 'they believe nothing exploded into something... by chance.'
Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean its not true, we are putting the pieces together and figuring out where we come from, we may never find a full answer but why do we have to cling to the beliefs of iron age tribes to fill that gap? If there is a god we will know him or her through understanding the universe, and I'll bet he or she will be much more interesting than the god of the bible.
@viicISrotcib- The Bible is a finite thing and limited in its ability to describe an infinite God. It highlights parts of His character (mighty, gentle, beautiful) but cannot possibly describe all He is.
@127purereligion I think when you hear that science is always changing you understand that we continue to change our minds whenever we want, the reality is that unless you have tangible, repeatable evidence of a claim then we readjust our picture of the universe to best fit the evidence, the evidence on support of evolution is all around us as well as the big bang. Yet your god remains quiet. Maybe we will find traces of intelligent design someday, but the question remains, why YOUR god?
@northoforacle Ants cannot prove the existence of humans with their logic. So, this proves that humans don't exist? The existence of God can not proven and can not be disproven by use mere humans, so you can stop wasting your time claiming you can.
@king78802- Unfortunately, I cannot vouch for any "Christians" you have met. I hope your aforementioned friend doesn't fit the following description. You've probably seen shocking things on the news and even experienced some of the same bigotry in your daily life. Seeing that makes me more angry than I've ever been at any atheist. Being in church doesn't make someone a Christian any more than being in a garage makes him a car. A life not reflecting unconditional love is a life not led by God.
@127purereligion i know but he more of a fundamentalist is there a bible verse that says people of other religions who had no knowledge of christianity will go to heaven i cant find the verse so that why i am asking and how can you tell who is a real christian i find that christians try to distant themselves from other christians who do immoral things by claiming they were never a christian or a real christian if you dress like a cop act like a cop people are going to think your a cop
@king78802- Whether people who've never heard about Christ still go to heaven or not is a question people have asked for a long time. Other than the passages I posted about the Law of Moses, I haven't seen much reference to it. This is what the Bible says a true Christian's character is like: "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control"-Galatians 5:22-23. Real Christianity is a lifetime committment, not a social fad.
@127purereligion just because some 1 doesnt believe in christ should never mean there hell bound if they are hell bound..you're god is a dictator aand anything but loving
What kind of crime is nonbelief? Oh my, I don't see a reason to believe God X, so now I'm burning in an eternal hell. Dystopia novels wrote about governments that would do such a thing for a life on earth, and you're saying it's okay if some being arbitrarily decides that someone is righteous or not and then gives them a punishment an infinitely higher amount? Sounds more like something my psychotic neighbor might yell out than a divine being.
@dragunov3r- It isn't arbitrarily decided. Each person knows what is wrong based on their conscience and the consequences of their actions. If you choose to rebel against nature and life itself, that's your decision. It isn't a very good idea.
@TheEvilOfScientology- You can see that we have free will based on every law that has ever been written. There would be no punishments or prisons if people didn't think you had a choice to do better. The fact that God created you is something you'll have to take on faith. If you believe every amazing thing in the universe got here by chance and your existance is a big cosmic accident, I would say that you are the one more apt to believe in fairy tales.
Free will based on laws? Wait, what? That still doesn't confirm anything. People thinking you have a choice is irrelevant to the facts. Furthermore, you say god created all people is a fact, but you have to take it on faith. What evidence makes it a fact? Furthermore, what does "chance" have to do with our existence? Is it really so hard to believe a few billion years created people on earth? We are not so divine. Yet, you are the one to call others immature. How self righteous
@dragunov3r- Based on your denial of free will, some alien force outside your personal being must have compelled you to post that. From what we can readily observe in nature, things digress over time. We end up with more disease, more pollution, more genetic defects. That isn't quite condusive to creating an infinitely complex organism, no matter how much time you have. If you don't believe the world is infinitely complex, enroll in a microbiology course. You might be surprised.
If you don't mind people ripping and reupping your videos why not enable the creative commons licence in ..videos>>edit . The standard licence means people have to download via some third party program. Just a thought.
Actually for your metaphor to be more real ....you would have turned yourself into an ant and reduced yourself to the level of an ant,,,, ,and having done that you would be the Jesus ant and lived with the ants and some of the ants would have loved you and some of the ants feared you .....
@democracyoreugenics You don't get it at all, do you? The point is not to make fun of Christianity (there are other religions which don't have their sons going down) or any other religion, the point is to demonstrate the huge flaw in the God Concept of many people.
@luitzenhietkamp Well what I got out of this metaphor was that God is portrayed as some kind of malignant self centred narcissist who maliciously relishes in burning ants.....A far cry from the loving mercifully creator....and if the point was to demonstrate the huge flaw in the God Concept of many people ...you,r right I did,nt get it .....
Honestly I'd think you were making some weird dish. Aside from that I'd indeed probably think you took this ant thing way, way too far and were kind of weird. Excellent metaphor, however. The difference is that humans are at least sort of capable of understanding the messages, according to the mythology. Still they often arbitrarily demand we do or not do things we're designed to do, so overall it's a fitting analogy. It's hard to put that difference into any analogy involving animals/colonies.
Look @ yr hands. Watch them mov.e That is a miracle U can't create that in a laboratory. Any 1 who has taken math & biology can't deny the probability. With the billions of complex & perfectly timed things that must happen each millisecond 2 keep that piece of dirt u call yr body alive 1 must b stupid or evil. 1 or the other. The trouble with stupid people is that more often than not they r 2 stupid 2 realize it. & 4 the evil 1s they just lie 2 themselves 2 do what they want without guilt.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hi Phil;
I enjoyed your 'talk'. However.. allegory & metaphor, though elucidating in that they may b utilized 2 illuminate an obtuse/complex abstraction, they r by their fundamentally literary natures equivocal in that their meanings r open 2 individual interpretations. What if the pearly gates are teeth? Hav u heard "As u believe, for u, so it shall b?" Damnation comes not from God, but from each individually. There may b souls in Hell. idk. But, if there r, God didn't put them there. peace.
@philhellenes Great video. I almost don't have the words to express it. Now the theist will nitpick and say "you didn't give them life. God DID." And not understand the point. That tyranny is tyranny, and torture is torture, no matter by whom.
@tongs2 But since god made man to have the ability to sin, hence he caused us to sin? Or is he 'testing' us and playing with our souls which he created by tossing them between the potential throes of heaven and hell? Thank goodness he doesn't exist ^.^
@shoulderkolibri Allah created us in this world to test us. He created paradise and hell for the deserving ones. Human beings are the most honoured creature in the sight of Allah. Because we are given freewill. If u choose to obey Him, you will be rewarded with eternal pleasure, if u choose to disobey Him and u let the pleasure of this world to fool you, He has prepared u the hellfire. But if u repent before death, He will forgive u. Peace.
@syazwankhan If Allah wanted me to obey him he doesn't need to do very much. He just needs to tell me what to do. If my father asked me to mow the lawn I mowed the lawn. I obeyed my father. If my boss wants me to perform a particular task he just needs to ask and I will do it to the best of my ability. I can obey. But; when I was young I could see and converse with my father. I can talk with my boss through various ways. I didn't need to believe either existed before they would speak with me.
@kezamel This life is a test from God. If He show Himself to everyone in this world, everyone would have believed and obey Him. Its a like a teacher giving answer to students during examination, so whats the point of having this test?? Those who are born as a Muslim, his/her duty is to convey the message of Islam to the non-muslims. As for NON-MUSLIMS, your duty is to open up your mind and search for the truth
@syazwankhan I don't know much about the Muslim religion so please tell me; is there a devil and multiple demons that were once angels of god's but rebelled?
I am searching for the truth, yet the religions that have so far preached to me are false. They're beliefs are filled with contradictions that they refuse to acknowledge. And I can not believe in a god that would respect a religion filled with people who refuse to see the truth and scream that falseness is true.
@kezamel Devils and demons are not angels. They are distinctive from angels. Devils and demons are in the category of Jinn. They are different creation of God besides angels and human beings.
@tongs2 Ahh! I see now! Religious dogma isn't to be taken literally (even when it claims that it should) - it's all about "individual interpretation" - like watching a Hollywood film. And God doesn't send people to hell - they send themselves. Does this mean that hell is also a liberal construct? On what authority do you make these claims?
@tongs2 1) All accounts of hell are from the opposition. We have heard nothing of it from the hell side. It might be very pleasant indeed. 2) According to your Bible, it is god who has the choice of life and death over everything and who makes all the decisions AND who knows everything before it happens. This means there is no free will and that god chooses to send souls to hell BEFORE they have even been conceived. Therefore, in your model, god HAS to be the only one who can put souls in hell.
@tongs2 God, according to believers, created everything in existence, which includes Hell and the criteria for being sent there. God has the power to stop people from being sent to Hell, but he doesn't, so clearly he wants them there. I would also argue that Hell is unjustifiable no matter what crime is committed. It's infinite punishment for a finite crime, often something like apostasy. It's an evil system, and your God is evil for creating it.
You are trying to sound intelligent by using big words, then you did all you could to sound as stupid as possible by using 2, b, and r as words. In reality the use of big words is simply a form of compensation similar to buying a large phallic shaped car.
"Damnation comes not from God, but from each individually."
@tongs2 Follow your statement to its logical conclusion. Why does damnation not come from god? Because a god who damns never existed anywhere but the human imagination. Same place hell exists. After creating the concepts of damnation & hell, man needed to invent a god of salvation. Getting rid of damnation makes god unnecessary. The only thing to be saved from is the idea of being unsaved. Forget about hell & bible god also disappears.
And just think ! If some friends and I , was able to give them ten comments. they could read ! but most did not listen . as we tried to lead them away from you . So I , sent friends down like avatars to talk . but they got killed with stones . so I went down to the ones, who had read the comments. But they killed me, thinking I was you. then build a church for you. well I ask u how long can you keep them at 110.8 degrees
There are people who see the human population of the plannet as something of an ant farm & themselves as Gods. Each country is but a tax farm. Our "Gods" call themselves "Royalty". They tell us we breath too much CO2 into the atmosphere. We must buy CFL bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs. Fukushima is perfectly safe. The Bilderberg group is planning a wonderful future for us. Vaccines aren't designed to sterilise you. Fluoride is good for your teeth, it doesn't reduce your I.Q. The govt.cares.
Not particularly in the sense that your words are compelling, but that you seem to have picked up a very odd mixture of actual facts mixed with silly conspiracy theories from literally every end of the political spectrum, and not just one.
Although I would call these 'gods' you mention 'corporations'. Royalty is mostly figureheads. And whilst gov't is often the corporations bitch, you can at least vote on them.
Of course fun fact is, alot of people who proclaim themselves rationalist now think *I* am a crazy conspiracy theorist because of me mentioning corporations like that.
I'd urge them to apply the reason they applied to religion to history. Learning about recent history in particular, and the history of law and economics might be very enlightening.
But seriously Galvatron, what side of the political spectrum do you consider yourself to be on? Some other self-styled libertarian perhaps? Or someone from the cult of the middle path?
Because most of the people who scream global warming is a myth have an unhealthy love for nuclear reactors, which you don't seem to share.
And the fluoride scare, really? I thought the McCarthy era was several decades ago.
@TheSkunkCat The only scarey thing about fluoride is the fact that they feed it to our children to reduce their IQs, & that they feed unregulated doses of this deadly neurotoxin to everyone through the fucking water supply in many places simply because they don't want ANYONE to think too much & figure out that we are all cattle on tax-farms. The govts. that run these farms are indeed corporations' bitches. Corporations are psychopathic entities owned by those who reign (Royalty). & yes GW=myth.
it seems that your real argument is against the parts of the Bible that arent the true message, and the people you know who have claimed to be christian and wronged you.
@correll28 Again, this is what Christianity says, funny that Christians don't realize it when they are confronted with the harsh truth. Maybe you should read your book once in a while. Since only 10% actually have read it, and still accept the content as truth, well, some of the message apparently. So basically your book is filled with nonsense, and somewhere in between there is the "true message". Now how do you know what it is if your god isn't telling anyone? You should do some thinking...
@dutchbb1979 please. dont be an ignorant fool. youre doing what you guys do best-assume. assume ive never read the bible, assume im somehow not as "logical" "Now how do you know what it is if your god isn't telling anyone" What kind of thing is that to say? hes telling everyone, you just dont want to hear them.
@dutchbb1979 everything jesus taught is what god wants us to know.. keep coming up with these terrible arguments that hide your insecurities, and ill continue to tell you that, indeed, you are not getting the true message. alas, how could you when you dont even try?
@correll28 So your evidence for god is Jesus. The problem is, there is no evidence that Jesus was anything more than just another human. The evidence for his existence isn't even that good, although I'm willing to accept he probably existed. Now you're talking about a very old book, which is based on copies of copies of translations of copies, with unknown authors. It's just a book, it's not proof for a God, not by a long shot. It's full of errors, and we're supposed to accept this is gods work?
@dutchbb1979 idc what you personally accept it as. take it as you will, but you cant deny that the message (there is that word that you guys hate again!) is profound. i however do take it that way. and being as though im the opposite side of this video, my initial statement was that it isnt really an applicable metaphor. we, as humans, are not ants. we have an emotional and intellectual side, as well as the innate need for help on how to be at peace in a world filled with way too much informatio
@dutchbb1979 do some thinking about that. I obviously have never thought before. what a jackass thing to say. having spirituality...knowing yourself as pure human being means i dont think. hope you can sort yourself out brotha
@correll28 Apparently you haven't thought about it well enough. I wasn't attacking you, I'm trying to give you my point of view. There is a whole world to be discovered once you get rid of the religious/spiritual bs. But you have to take that first step. That means thinking about what you believe and why. Again, no offence.
first I would ask why you were putting ants into the oven. What if you are an amateur chocolate maker with a thing for chocolate ants? Once you explained yourself, as you just did, I would have to think you are rather crazy and really need to talk to someone from the mental health factory.
At least you brought lettuce to your ants, gawd never bought my groceries.
wow at first i thought this was gonna be a stupid video about ants but then i kept watching and its exactly how i feel xD really great. wonder how many christians disagreed with the ant burning?
well first of all ppl that claim theres a hell they have interpreted the bible wrong its full of second meanings that ppl will believe shit like that its very clear in the bible theres a verse that clearly says wen ur dead ur dead nothing keeps living u cant rely in one verse u have to have a context or references to decipher the real message.
Verelse is an intelligent species (sentient) with whom no communication is possible, and djur means a creature that shows no signs of intelligence and can not be communicated with.
They all come from the novel "Speaker for the Dead" by Orson Scott Card. It is an anthropological science fiction piece, and one of the central concepts is the hierarchy of exclusion. Utlanning are strangers of one's own species and culture. Framling is a stranger from one's own species, but another culture (in the books case, world). Ramen is not of Scandinavian origin; it means a member of another sentient species with whom communication is possible.
Communication between man and god is an absolutely key aspect in the belief in god. If anyone is familiar with Orson Scott Card's "Speaker for the Dead," they will understand what I mean when I say that ants are varelse at best, and djur at worst. For this argument to be valid, the ants would have to be ramen; human science thus far says otherwise.
@Mazeltofcocktail I'm just curious, what do these terms "varelse" and "djur" mean for you? In my own language (swedish) varelse means creature and djur means animal. I've never heard of the words varelse and djur used as terms in English though.
@Mazeltofcocktail och and the last word you used was "ramen"...ram in Swedish means frame and ramen means "the frame"....I'm really curious as to where are these Swedish loan-words come from?
Have you ever played the Black and White games? In those games you take the roll of a god and your job is to raise up a civilization. Other people exist who aren't affiliated with you so you are given two options. You can either be an evil god and conquer them with an army, or you can be a benevolent god and convince other towns to move to yours.
How cruel or benevolent you are determines your alignment as a good god or an evil god. It is actually loads of fun.
@FlowCell Yeah, i remember that, howling rocks at peasant's villages, starting fires and making your giant pet angry to make them suffer... ooops, I talked too much! :P
I finally found it . .Ant-farm-story

127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion the thing about the story is he felt he deserved worship/acknowledgment for providing the ants with lettuce when he was the one who put them in the position to be dependent on him for food in the first place and for the 2 part of your comment the point he was trying to make is god punishing people for eternity for not acknowledging him yet he claims to love them and the 3rd point is your god needed a scapegoat to forgive could he no found another way?
king78802 7 months ago
@king78802- 1. If he created the ants and they responded, it might be a different story. A father disciplines his children not because he enjoys it, but because he wants them to be responsible, respectful adults. Children should respect a parent (or God) who cares and sets good guidelines. 2. The world was corrupted by Satan, but God gave a way out. It is up to us to accept it. A generous man could give you a million dollars, but if you never deposit the check, you can't enjoy the results.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion 1 when a father discipline his child it because the punishment match the offense and the punishment is temporary hell is eternal and what the average nonbeliever does is not hell worthy what your god punishment for not believing is excessively cruel and no parents should show they deserve respect 2.God created satan knowing he would rebel, god created evil and the rules under what is a sin so it was god fault how the world ended up knowing that most would end up going to hell
king78802 7 months ago
@127purereligion And about the rich man analogy in the real world it rich men all claiming to have given me 1,000,000 yet none can prove it all claim and if i dont deposit the check i lose much more .If there was evidence for your god than i would believe he exist
king78802 7 months ago
@127purereligion- God created people with free will. What they do with it is their choice. Where they go is their choice as well. When you spend your entire life rejecting God, doesn't it make sense for Him to allow you an existance without Him? The only problem is, you discover what you've asked for all along is not what you thought it'd be.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion no one asked to be tortured forever no one wants that your god set the toll for disbelief and what i ask for is evidence do you think it fair that someone who did the exact same things as you is being tortured forever just for not believing ? don't that sound excessively in an earlier comment you compare god to a dad would your dad let you be tortured for eternity for a small transgression
king78802 7 months ago
@127purereligion when i was a child i did not want to go to school but my dad made me go because he was more concern with my well being than my freewill and that what a father do he protect his children and try to let his children experience the least amount of pain as possible your god on the other makes hell eternal trying to maximize the amount of pain. love me or go to hell that do not express love or freewill
king78802 7 months ago
@king78802- He continually offers the choice. Every time you talk to me about it, every time you think about it, it's a chance to escape the punishment we all deserve. Hell wasn't meant for you. According to the Bible, it was meant for "Satan and his angels". The only way to ultimately get stuck there is by letting Satan run your life and never choosing to reject him and what he stands for.
127purereligion 7 months ago
"He continually offers the choice."
NothingButSocksOn 5 months ago
@king78802- You say your dad made you go, but unless he sat through every class with you, you still had the option to run away during the day or hide out in the bathroom. If you had done that, the consequences would be yours to deal with. Sometimes parents do all they can, but children just will not do what is best for themselves. If you had failed a grade from skipping or got suspended for smoking in the bathroom, you would have to face the consequences. Dad's have to follow the rules too.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion i was talking about when i was a child not a teenager by then i knew the importance of education i say loving fathers try to minimize the amount of suffering there child bear especially if they can help your god made hell knowing his children who he supposedly loved would go there where they will be tortured forever after they die he punish them for eternity for a finite crime which is cruel & immoral that contradict the statement of a loving god
king78802 7 months ago
@king78802- He tried to minimize your suffering by giving you a way out. Rejecting Him isn't a finite crime, it's a continual choice. The worst part of Hell isn't the darkness or pain; it's the absence of God. It's the result of a life that says, "I hate You, You don't matter to me". Parents try to spare their kids, but what happens when that unruly teen becomes an adult felon? One mistake has the power to put you in prison for life. Imagine the power of a lifetime of mistakes.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion nonbelievers does not hate your god just provide evidence for him and what happen to the Hindus who never heard of this god the problem is your god claim to be all loving yet sends people to hell for eternity your god is basically saying love me or burn in hell that is petty, narcissistic, childish, and cruel the problem with your god is it does not take the persons actions into account just if you believed in it or not you could be a ted bundy, still go to heaven
king78802 7 months ago
@king78802- Since He says the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (perpetually denying Him), then there's a good possibility that people who've never heard of him are in the clear. You can't deny what you don't know, amen? Additionally, actions are very important, not because they are what saves you, but because they provide proof of your commitment. "Faith without works is dead" and "whoever claims to love God, yet hates another person is a liar".
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion odd because a christian i knew said they were going to hell can you site a specific bible verse
so i can show him and if they already go to heaven why do you try and convert them?the point i was trying to make is a person can spend there life doing immoral actions yet if he on his deathbed accept jesus as his lord and savior he will go to heaven yet a atheist can spend his life trying to help others yet he cant go because he dont believe it really tells alot about gods priority
king78802 7 months ago
@king78802- “To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law.”-Romans 5:13 (see also Romans 2:13-15)
“The law” here is in reference to the Law of Moses, including the Ten Commandments. It exists to remind us of our need for something better. The main reason for witnessing to people who’ve never heard about God is to show them how meaningful life can be.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@purereligin We can now understand the reasons mankind invented gods like Poseidon, Jesus, Zeus, etc. For example, Christianity and Islam though not grounded in fact or even logical, can satisfy a need to come to terms with human existence and death
Since you seem to cherish self deception, our ancestors would congratulate you on perpetuating the myths and superstitions they developed. However, for many of us, the spell has been broken and we are just beginning to open our eyes (like a newborn)
northoforacle 6 months ago 14
@northoforacle- Most of the gods of history were less noble versions of people themselves that they worshipped through orgies and human sacrifices. The God of Christianity calls people to be higher and more noble than they currently are. Modern humans are the only ones arrogant and foolish enough to believe they are the highest beings in existance. Even with the increasing ability of scientists to observe the complexities of our world, they believe nothing exploded into something...by chance.
127purereligion 6 months ago
"The God of Christianity calls people to be higher and more noble than they currently are."
@127purereligion Then he should have created them higher & more noble to begin with. Your religion is nothing but alienation & crawling back to an abusive autocratic super-ego who beats his wife & kids then blames the victims like a rapist who says it's the woman's fault for dressing the wrong way. He gives the rope of free will & calls it a gift, then watches you hang yourself with it & call that love.
NothingButSocksOn 5 months ago
@127purereligion 'they believe nothing exploded into something... by chance.'
Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean its not true, we are putting the pieces together and figuring out where we come from, we may never find a full answer but why do we have to cling to the beliefs of iron age tribes to fill that gap? If there is a god we will know him or her through understanding the universe, and I'll bet he or she will be much more interesting than the god of the bible.
viicISrotcib 5 months ago
@viicISrotcib- The Bible is a finite thing and limited in its ability to describe an infinite God. It highlights parts of His character (mighty, gentle, beautiful) but cannot possibly describe all He is.
127purereligion 5 months ago
@127purereligion I think when you hear that science is always changing you understand that we continue to change our minds whenever we want, the reality is that unless you have tangible, repeatable evidence of a claim then we readjust our picture of the universe to best fit the evidence, the evidence on support of evolution is all around us as well as the big bang. Yet your god remains quiet. Maybe we will find traces of intelligent design someday, but the question remains, why YOUR god?

@northoforacle Ants cannot prove the existence of humans with their logic. So, this proves that humans don't exist? The existence of God can not proven and can not be disproven by use mere humans, so you can stop wasting your time claiming you can.
cvuser11 1 month ago
@king78802- Unfortunately, I cannot vouch for any "Christians" you have met. I hope your aforementioned friend doesn't fit the following description. You've probably seen shocking things on the news and even experienced some of the same bigotry in your daily life. Seeing that makes me more angry than I've ever been at any atheist. Being in church doesn't make someone a Christian any more than being in a garage makes him a car. A life not reflecting unconditional love is a life not led by God.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion i know but he more of a fundamentalist is there a bible verse that says people of other religions who had no knowledge of christianity will go to heaven i cant find the verse so that why i am asking and how can you tell who is a real christian i find that christians try to distant themselves from other christians who do immoral things by claiming they were never a christian or a real christian if you dress like a cop act like a cop people are going to think your a cop
king78802 7 months ago
@king78802- Whether people who've never heard about Christ still go to heaven or not is a question people have asked for a long time. Other than the passages I posted about the Law of Moses, I haven't seen much reference to it. This is what the Bible says a true Christian's character is like: "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control"-Galatians 5:22-23. Real Christianity is a lifetime committment, not a social fad.

@127purereligion
QQP, TL;DR, your argument is dumb.
dragunov3r 7 months ago
@dragunov3r- It isn't arbitrarily decided. Each person knows what is wrong based on their conscience and the consequences of their actions. If you choose to rebel against nature and life itself, that's your decision. It isn't a very good idea.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion "God created people with free will"
You got a source for that, other than a book cobbled together by ancient cattle herders?
TheEvilOfScientology 7 months ago
@TheEvilOfScientology- You can see that we have free will based on every law that has ever been written. There would be no punishments or prisons if people didn't think you had a choice to do better. The fact that God created you is something you'll have to take on faith. If you believe every amazing thing in the universe got here by chance and your existance is a big cosmic accident, I would say that you are the one more apt to believe in fairy tales.
127purereligion 7 months ago
@127purereligion
How self righteous
dragunov3r 7 months ago
@dragunov3r- Based on your denial of free will, some alien force outside your personal being must have compelled you to post that. From what we can readily observe in nature, things digress over time. We end up with more disease, more pollution, more genetic defects. That isn't quite condusive to creating an infinitely complex organism, no matter how much time you have. If you don't believe the world is infinitely complex, enroll in a microbiology course. You might be surprised.

I can talk with my boss through various ways. I didn't need to believe either existed before they would speak with me.
kezamel 4 months ago
@kezamel This life is a test from God. If He show Himself to everyone in this world, everyone would have believed and obey Him. Its a like a teacher giving answer to students during examination, so whats the point of having this test?? Those who are born as a Muslim, his/her duty is to convey the message of Islam to the non-muslims. As for NON-MUSLIMS, your duty is to open up your mind and search for the truth
syazwankhan 4 months ago
@syazwankhan I don't know much about the Muslim religion so please tell me; is there a devil and multiple demons that were once angels of god's but rebelled?
I am searching for the truth, yet the religions that have so far preached to me are false. They're beliefs are filled with contradictions that they refuse to acknowledge. And I can not believe in a god that would respect a religion filled with people who refuse to see the truth and scream that falseness is true.
kezamel 4 months ago
@kezamel Devils and demons are not angels. They are distinctive from angels. Devils and demons are in the category of Jinn. They are different creation of God besides angels and human beings.
syazwankhan 4 months ago
@tongs2 Ahh! I see now! Religious dogma isn't to be taken literally (even when it claims that it should) - it's all about "individual interpretation" - like watching a Hollywood film. And God doesn't send people to hell - they send themselves. Does this mean that hell is also a liberal construct? On what authority do you make these claims?
38dragoon38 7 months ago
@tongs2 1) All accounts of hell are from the opposition. We have heard nothing of it from the hell side. It might be very pleasant indeed. 2) According to your Bible, it is god who has the choice of life and death over everything and who makes all the decisions AND who knows everything before it happens. This means there is no free will and that god chooses to send souls to hell BEFORE they have even been conceived. Therefore, in your model, god HAS to be the only one who can put souls in hell.
ciaochowbella 7 months ago
@tongs2 God, according to believers, created everything in existence, which includes Hell and the criteria for being sent there. God has the power to stop people from being sent to Hell, but he doesn't, so clearly he wants them there. I would also argue that Hell is unjustifiable no matter what crime is committed. It's infinite punishment for a finite crime, often something like apostasy. It's an evil system, and your God is evil for creating it.
damandatwin 7 months ago
@tongs2
You are trying to sound intelligent by using big words, then you did all you could to sound as stupid as possible by using 2, b, and r as words. In reality the use of big words is simply a form of compensation similar to buying a large phallic shaped car.
JamesThWilliams 7 months ago
"Damnation comes not from God, but from each individually."
@tongs2 Follow your statement to its logical conclusion. Why does damnation not come from god? Because a god who damns never existed anywhere but the human imagination. Same place hell exists. After creating the concepts of damnation & hell, man needed to invent a god of salvation. Getting rid of damnation makes god unnecessary. The only thing to be saved from is the idea of being unsaved. Forget about hell & bible god also disappears.

@Galv140577
TheSkunkCat 8 months ago
@TheSkunkCat The only scarey thing about fluoride is the fact that they feed it to our children to reduce their IQs, & that they feed unregulated doses of this deadly neurotoxin to everyone through the fucking water supply in many places simply because they don't want ANYONE to think too much & figure out that we are all cattle on tax-farms. The govts. that run these farms are indeed corporations' bitches. Corporations are psychopathic entities owned by those who reign (Royalty). & yes GW=myth.

Christians love and worship a murdering god.
That's why society should shun away from these people.
BetaDeltaCebu 8 months ago
this is your argument against religion?
it seems that your real argument is against the parts of the Bible that arent the true message, and the people you know who have claimed to be christian and wronged you.
correll28 8 months ago
@correll28 Again, this is what Christianity says, funny that Christians don't realize it when they are confronted with the harsh truth. Maybe you should read your book once in a while. Since only 10% actually have read it, and still accept the content as truth, well, some of the message apparently. So basically your book is filled with nonsense, and somewhere in between there is the "true message". Now how do you know what it is if your god isn't telling anyone? You should do some thinking...
dutchbb1979 8 months ago
@dutchbb1979 please. dont be an ignorant fool. youre doing what you guys do best-assume. assume ive never read the bible, assume im somehow not as "logical" "Now how do you know what it is if your god isn't telling anyone" What kind of thing is that to say? hes telling everyone, you just dont want to hear them.
correll28 8 months ago
@dutchbb1979 everything jesus taught is what god wants us to know.. keep coming up with these terrible arguments that hide your insecurities, and ill continue to tell you that, indeed, you are not getting the true message. alas, how could you when you dont even try?
correll28 8 months ago
@correll28 So your evidence for god is Jesus. The problem is, there is no evidence that Jesus was anything more than just another human. The evidence for his existence isn't even that good, although I'm willing to accept he probably existed. Now you're talking about a very old book, which is based on copies of copies of translations of copies, with unknown authors. It's just a book, it's not proof for a God, not by a long shot. It's full of errors, and we're supposed to accept this is gods work?
dutchbb1979 8 months ago
@dutchbb1979 idc what you personally accept it as. take it as you will, but you cant deny that the message (there is that word that you guys hate again!) is profound. i however do take it that way. and being as though im the opposite side of this video, my initial statement was that it isnt really an applicable metaphor. we, as humans, are not ants. we have an emotional and intellectual side, as well as the innate need for help on how to be at peace in a world filled with way too much informatio
correll28 8 months ago
@correll28 Do you honestly believe that ants do not have emotion or intellect?

@correll28 Seems like this is covered, farwell.
missy2spencer 8 months ago
@missy2spencer They certainly don't have high-level moral reasoning like humans do. They are, after all, animals.
OrangeMango30 7 months ago
@dutchbb1979 do some thinking about that. I obviously have never thought before. what a jackass thing to say. having spirituality...knowing yourself as pure human being means i dont think. hope you can sort yourself out brotha
correll28 8 months ago
@correll28 Apparently you haven't thought about it well enough. I wasn't attacking you, I'm trying to give you my point of view. There is a whole world to be discovered once you get rid of the religious/spiritual bs. But you have to take that first step. That means thinking about what you believe and why. Again, no offence.
dutchbb1979 8 months ago
first I would ask why you were putting ants into the oven.

Verelse is an intelligent species (sentient) with whom no communication is possible, and djur means a creature that shows no signs of intelligence and can not be communicated with.
Mazeltofcocktail 9 months ago
They all come from the novel "Speaker for the Dead" by Orson Scott Card. It is an anthropological science fiction piece, and one of the central concepts is the hierarchy of exclusion. Utlanning are strangers of one's own species and culture. Framling is a stranger from one's own species, but another culture (in the books case, world). Ramen is not of Scandinavian origin; it means a member of another sentient species with whom communication is possible.
Mazeltofcocktail 9 months ago
Communication between man and god is an absolutely key aspect in the belief in god. If anyone is familiar with Orson Scott Card's "Speaker for the Dead," they will understand what I mean when I say that ants are varelse at best, and djur at worst. For this argument to be valid, the ants would have to be ramen; human science thus far says otherwise.
Mazeltofcocktail 9 months ago
@Mazeltofcocktail I'm just curious, what do these terms "varelse" and "djur" mean for you? In my own language (swedish) varelse means creature and djur means animal. I've never heard of the words varelse and djur used as terms in English though.
mjohanss1975 9 months ago
@Mazeltofcocktail och and the last word you used was "ramen"...ram in Swedish means frame and ramen means "the frame"....I'm really curious as to where are these Swedish loan-words come from?
mjohanss1975 9 months ago
Have you ever played the Black and White games? In those games you take the roll of a god and your job is to raise up a civilization. Other people exist who aren't affiliated with you so you are given two options. You can either be an evil god and conquer them with an army, or you can be a benevolent god and convince other towns to move to yours.
How cruel or benevolent you are determines your alignment as a good god or an evil god. It is actually loads of fun.
