Alberta's Oilsands produce only 5% of Canada's total Carbon output. Canada produces less than 2% of Global Carbon emissions. Greenpeace has diluted into a extremist joke. In order to take them serious they must focus on the real issues mainly being China.
5% of Canada's emissions is a very significant amount. I wonder if there is any single project that is larger? Ceasing to extract oil from sand seems like the low hanging fruit in the inevitable transition to a post-carbon world.
i work at the muskeg river mine at the shell albian sands site. greenpeace got the mine shutdown for maybe 6 hours only on the one half of the mine. the other side kept running. they didnt even stop the production at all shell just laughed about it. they were chained there for about 31 hours total and they agreed to leave if they wouldnt be criminally charged. the climate fags also cut the power cord for the shovel which is a very high voltage line. not the smartest people out there!

Sorry for posting again but really they have not even touched the amount of oil in the tarsands.however the technology there does seem to be improving with filters and what not and recycling somwhere more than 90% of water consumption.Wich this is all good.
However back to '07 I think i was paying around $1.40 a liter for gas.With fort mac producing 2/3 of the worlds consumption if they weren't around I really wonder how much we would have paid?.Had a 88 liter tank = $120.00+ to fill.

So what does a real leader do let his country fall because there is no gas at the pumps where did they get this guy from.Glad he isn't a leader of a country he'd drive it into the ground, everyone would starve wouldn't be able to afford to get to work.The Green thing is going to be a long process and humans will get there but it is going to take time.If done right no one should suffer.just cant start shutting down oil producers

Sorry for posting again but really they have not even touched the amount of oil in the tarsands.however the technology there does seem to be improving with filters and what not and recycling somwhere more than 90% of water consumption.Wich this is all good.
However back to '07 I think i was paying around $1.40 a liter for gas.With fort mac producing 2/3 of the worlds consumption if they weren't around I really wonder how much we would have paid?.Had a 88 liter tank = $120.00+ to fill.

Ok I realize what there saying but who can afford it.theres something like 4.5 million square miles in Canada. And he says there set to displace an area the size of england wich is 50,337 square miles wich is slightly less than the mineable tarsands. However they are a long way from mining that much of the tarsands. In 2007 2/3 's of the worlds petroleum consumption came from the Fort Mcmurrey Tarsands,Now think how much gas would have been for people around the world if it wasn't for them.

Yeah you know,the thing is they shut the tarsands down and i really think gas would be become too expensive for people to afford, and then what really they should get the green teachnology first then shut down. Also England must be really small.I could not help but realize they compare it to small countries. how many people drive t in the Czech Republic.I'm not against green tech but really it has do be done in the proper order. Once again he compares it to England is so small compared to Canada

Where should we get our gas and oil then? Millions of people in the US would starve without Canadian oil.
