It's quite rare that you ever get to hear the INDUCTION ROAR after spannies have been fitted, exhausts always seem to take that racket away. but on monsters like KH triples both the harmonies combine together to make the most awesome sound!! Wish the same could be said for YPVS's!
I used to race these down HWY 9 by Alice's restaurant to Santa Cruz, love hitting top speed on 4 corners hwy 1. I am and will always be now a Two Stroke Cafe lover. The quick pick up and top speed is very addicting. I think I had three 175cc pistons out of a kawi 350 two stroke in it. ruti from the kawi dealership I think on El Camino was who did it grand Prix Kawasaki. hwy 17 is another story, kinda crazy. it was a 79 Kawi kh500 with three 175cc pistons out of a kawi 350 two stroke
Aye, mans bike. New alloy swingarm to stop the bending in the middle sensation when you hit 6500 revs. I say sensation. It actually did bend in the middle, even the 500.
A thing of true beauty, mind bending acceleration, hands and feet tingling with vibration and back in the old world this lady was surely a true widow maker...
I did that once with a KH 500 frame with a H2 750 motor it ran great, I also hooked up a S2 350 with H2 750 carbs now that thing was fun to ride I was burning up CB 750's,KZ 650's like it was nothing!
GREAT BIKE ! Did you use the KH500 frame because it`s better handling or because thats what you just happened to have around sort of thing? Anyway well done ! I`d be proud to own that ! Sounds like a `70s GP bike ! Peace Ye`all !!
Lovely bike guy!! It should be almost impossible to keep the front wheel on the ground during acceleration! I remember when in '72 the 750 came out, the engine was placed further to the front to prevent wheelies a bit. I started with a 500 in '72 and bought a 750 in '74. The 750 had a lot of vibration though. Sweet memories!!
It is a beautiful thing when simplicity of form and the power of function unite in one place. That bike makes me feel good just looking and listening to it!
oooooooooo cool i get most of it exept the premix part, how can there be enough oil with a premix and how does it get to the bearing does the oil somehow seperate from the fuel? don't the bearing get really hot?
how do these 2 stroke engine get oil to the bearing if it a full pressurized recirculating oiling system like most engines. I don't get how could get adquet oilling those a fuel/oil mix. i heard some of them have a seperate oil tank but where does it deliver the oil to.SWEET bike i would love to get an old 2-stroke but don't understand how the hell they get oil which has kept me away till i find out.
It's really simple. The engines have all roller and/or needle bearings contained therein. Hence, that require no pressurized oiling system..In fact, that would just rob horsepower.
SIIIIIIICK THANK u soo muck for clearing that up, i been trying to figure that shit out for a while, someone told me they were foil bearing which makes NOOOOOO sence and, noone has ever been able to answer my question omg thanks
Yup. Traditional two-stroke oiling system, delivered through the intake track. I love working on these engines because of how much simpler all the internals are.
Originally, there was a separate oil tank on the triples. The oil pump injected oil down thru the top of the cases near the mains. I have a '72 triple that I simply run Premix in now, having disconnected the pump and injection system.
with a 2 stroke engine, the gear case is isolated from the crank and crank beaing area. The gear case has its own oil supply, usually regular motor oil, or whatever. The crank bearings and main bearings are all a part of the combustion area, and they get lubrication from the 2 stroke oil either injected or premixed. On the other hand on a four stroke engine, the oil in the gear case is the same oil that is circulated thru the head and crank bearings.
did you remove the factory installed hinge in the middle of the frame? I rode one years ago and I don't think the wheels ever tracked together, but fast to the point of being scary. by the way C0r0net440 is right run a jet higher and it shouldn't seize, but if you built that then you obviously know about 2 strokes.
Is your swing arm a custom job, or is it off of some other model of bike? I know that people put GS1100 swing arms onto Z1KZ650/900/1000's. Also, what kind of tank and seat are those? Don't worry, as much as I think that's uber sick, I wouldn't steal your ideas. I'm just curious. Sweet bike!!! Are the forks stock? Have you thought of swapping for a disk rear, and dual disk front setup? I can imagine you would want more breaking power hahaha.
A friend of mine did a similar thing in 1976. The 750 broke the chassis due to hammering vibration. We later found we should have rubber mounted the engine like Kawasaki did with the last of the 500s. It was a fun bike despite the minor problem. BTW, yours is a fabulous work of art and left me with a big grin when I heard it. Thanks for the memories!
I never had any ring problems with mine. Contrary to popular belief, the center cylinder had more fin area than the outer ones. An easy fix to relieve any seasures was to run the center cylinder 1 jet size bigger.
The 750 and 500 engines had same motor mount dimensions. The 500 chassis was much stronger in the steering head area. The 2 outer backbone tubes were routed outside of the 2 front down tubes which made the 500 chassis less prone to steering head twisting.
It's quite rare that you ever get to hear the INDUCTION ROAR after spannies have been fitted, exhausts always seem to take that racket away. but on monsters like KH triples both the harmonies combine together to make the most awesome sound!! Wish the same could be said for YPVS's!

don't let it run in idle for too long, the piston of the middle cylinder has tendency to hang because of bad cooling.

Could the 750 engine be inserted in the kH frame? I recall the KH frame was rated better than the H2. That's why you choose it?
