Wow? They blew their own lighting? Notice the Asian girl standing in front of the window? Well, she looks blue-ish in hue, and that is due to the cameraman having the camera switched on the wrong setting, artificial vs. sun light--causing issue when the sunlight from outside, conflicts with the available interior light. That blue-ish look is considered to be unprofessional, and is the mark of someone who doesn't know what they are doing. I'm not an expert on lighting, but i know that rule.

Great video, i have seen lots of 3 point lightning vids, but the information given in this video is just a step further if it comes to other information besides the lightning itself (the checklists, filters in front of the backlight, the tip of taping all cords on the ground (normally you think only professional productions do it) and getting extra lightbulbs with you are good tips.

Decent tutorial, though I don't like their use of the term"back" light. Most books call this a hair light or rim light, to differentiate between this and a background light, which is a completely different thing.

Also, if this is 3 point lighting for narrative films then the key light should mimic where the light is coming from within the scene, such as a lamp or the sun. If for interviews then ignore what I said. Also the 'back light' can be confused the with the 'background light' and when on set It's usually referred to as the hair or edge light to avoid confusion. But that's just a minor detail. Good job though!

Very informative, and great for beginners, but I fear you may be telling them exactly how to do it, even though a lot of it is up to interpretation. For example, telling them the lights should point down 45 degrees, or that the fill light is 50% of the key (2:1 contrast ratio), is very limiting. Lighting always changes depending on mood, shot, light source, angle, etc...
