I agree with Buglebogue below, The epic subtle humor in the song is harder to get with the truncated lyrics. It's actually a very funny song. "the girl" or the far out music I enjoy in my car". The answer is painfully clear, and not by choice. Many people of a certain age have fond memories of long ago driving around with a sountrack to life blasting in high fidelity "on the radio".

I dug up Roxy Music album in my neighbors shack and enjoyed its melody ever since. She said she bought it in Germany but somehow failed to appreciate it. Roxy Music didnt fare well in Manila then until Brian Ferry went solo with his hits "Dont stop the Dance" etc. As such, I became a secret fan of RM, telling friends that its just Brian Ferry with a band. Consequently, I gave away records of it by then famous cassettes to my love objects.
