I wish people who make videos would give the specific details. He thought it was important enough to say he uses sealant but doesn't tell you the name of the product. It's the "little details" that make all the difference. What is a safe, appropriate sealant to use on that gasket? 45 thousand views and still no definitive answer. Is it something in the water? Sheesh!
Hi, I also would like to know what kind of sealant did you use, although I see no responses.... I installed a new flush system (dual and came with a new gasket but a have a small leak.... thanks!
Cool! I recently pushed too hard on my toilet while laying tiles. I found the leak so I bought new washers and a gasket. Then I sealed around the entry with liquid nails. Then I sealed the inside along with the washers with waterproof putty and rustoleum paint. I then placed a 2x4 behind the toilet using liquid nails to seal it. No more leak. I hope it lasts for a hundred years.

That was rectoseal #5. It is an oilbased product never use it on rubber gaskets or plastic.
