Meryl tem uma carreira brilhante sim, assim como Montenegro. Isso nem precisa dizer. Só que aí isso não vem ao caso, era simplesmente ver pelo clipe de cada atriz indicada, quem era a melhor. Todo mundo com certeza matou a pau, mas a Academia teve o prazer de ser desagradável e de fugir do óbvio.

Telling the truth the best actress that year was Fernanda. She should have won all the awards, including the Oscar. I am so proud that a Brazilian actress not even speaking in English for the film was yet nominated. So unfair she didn´t get it. A film that ten years later still produces the same emotional effect on me. How can someone transmitt so much as she did in this movie?

And I know Cate is a much better actor than Gwyneth in those two movies, or any others. But Gwyneth was in the Best Picture, and she had this princess-like appeal. Even today it's not hard to see why she won even if undeserved. Cate was brilliant, but it's political, and Gwyneth was the character you fell in love with.
