@Catalinaeva2388 Actually, this is part of the film score. It's called "Y2K Kiss." This version is heavily layered with stringed instruments. You can't even find the score anywhere........... but I have ;)
this movie is a double edged sword for me.... I love it .... but it depresses me at the same time some how... Not sure if its because i realize how far those times are gone now...or if i let someone slip away when i should've done what Lenny did
There is nothing like watching a good movie for the first time. The part where the kid jumps on the bad cop when angela was getting beaten, got me off my seat. I was standing up for the rest of the movie. And the ending was just amazing.
Angela did a great job. If she had been killed I would have been really dissapointed. She's a hottie too! I'm gonna have to catch some of her other movies now.
I just finished watching this movie. I loved it! That ending was really good. It kind of tells you, it's never too late. Well unless the other person is dead...
I saw this in the theatres in 95. There were 4 people watching it. Why? This and Point Break are my favorite movies of the 90's, both directed by Katherine Bigelow. Probably among my all time favorites. I had so much dreams when I saw this. I still watch it consistently to keep hope alive.I don't know y it didn't do better box office wise.
Yo i watched this movie for the first time yesterday and i can't believe how much i loved it!!like just the entire way it was done, the story, the dark future, the whole thing with virtual memories being addictive like a drug lol.awesome fucking movie!!i've been hearing about it for years and ignored it until i found out it was writtien byt James Cameron
No matter how many times I watch this (and believe me I watch it a lot - this part not the entire movie) my heart races and I get excited by the look in Ralph's eyes right before he kisses her...incredible...
I could try and say something meaningful but I'll leave that to others. All I know is that I would've done as many takes as possible to get that kiss with Angela Bassett just perfect :D
I love how this intensely strong woman becomes so vunerable at this moment she has been longing for so long... better than any kiss in any chickflick!
Trully beautiful film and ending Kathryn Bigelow has been underestimated for a long time. I always felt this film had strong, believable characters and the production is enormous and breathtaking. Basset in an old interview said this final kiss made her knees weak during and afterwards. Apparently, Fiennes is quite the kisser :)
@cheerchic82 wowee wow! I'd be weak in the knees, too! When I first saw this it became one of my fave passionate moments in film and set the standard by which I view cinematic romantic gestures. Angela Bassett and Ralph Fiennes were/are so gorgeous, and gorgeous together. Yeow!
Angela Basset is my favorite actress, and I like Ralph too... but this scene... is just awesome! I've seen Strange Days so many times and I'm still crying at the end. BEST ENDING EVER!
2 counts Obstruction of Justice (not telling the the proper law enforcement personnel about Jeriko 1's death, DeAmanda and Iris's deaths), 2 counts Aiding and Abetting (helping Gant try to cover up Jeriko 1's death and helping Max in killing Gant by not warning him), Accomplice to Gant's brain-frying (by giving the trodes to Max) and Gant's death (by not warning Gant or police that Max was looking to kill Gant),
Accomplice to the attempted murder of Lennie Nero (by failing to provide him with the information she withheld about Jeriko and DeAmanda and Iris's deaths, failing to notify Lennie that Max was looking to kill him and set him up for the death of Gant.) Also, Involuntary Manslaughter for the death of Tick, seeing as how it could have been prevented if she told Lennie everything.
The ending was the best part of this move.Because when it was all said and done. She was always there for him no matter how bad the situation was or if they would ever make out alive. He new this. And it wasn't until the end that he realized finally that it was now or never. That he needed to show her how he truly felt....True love finds away.
@judaschongo You are right. I am a big fan of Angela. I have a feeling Fiennes had a crush or something on her the way he kissed her, either that or he is one hell of an actor ;-)
Well, as far as his character of Lenny Nero went, he never had a romantic thought of Macey until the very end when it finally dawned on him what he had, so when the big scene came it was really powerful I also love how Nero and her switched places, at First he looked out for her until she became the strong one and then she looked out for him as he went wayward in life, then Nero was saved from darkness by her.
@silbitnuoc So it was love for mace, or reward for her loyalty? Maybe both, as love as an element of admiration in it. We admire what we love. We do see Faith as someone who cares about Lenny in her own way (trying to dissuade the record producer from going after Nero and later on helping him during the knife fight). But Faith is too flaky. Mace was more of a steadying force in Nero's life (which he needed badly). IMHO
@mrsotter19 I really think it was love. They could have had him replay things she said in her mind like the "have you ever been in love with someone who didn't return that love?" speach, but I think all the hints added up. So not a reward in that sense, but he definately had admiration and respect for her, and more, so in this case....love was its own reward for them both. Faith just wasn't extreme enough to stomach killing, that was human reaction only.
This was directed by Kathryn Bigelow!!! Anyway I love this movie and shame it didn't do better when it came out. BTW One of the best kiss scenes ever, and the chemistry was perfect.
@similik101 My comment was more of the "Go Girl!" type than trying to be informative, you know. Most people don't think woman can direct action movies, so that Oscar award to Bigelow has made history. So happy for her.
I was looking at your "splinter in my heart" vid (once again =P) and i saw this vid in your channel and i've just finished seeing this movie on "the film zone" a channel here in argentina. this is mad dude, really mad
Strange Days is underrated masterpiece - unique storyline, great acting, directing, producing...
Ralph Fiennes (Lenny Nero) is always brilliant no matter it's comedy, drama or sci-fi movie. Angela Bassett did a great job as well. The final kiss scene was so sweet.
I don't know why but this film reminds me another underrated SCI-FI/Action movies of the 90's - The Lawnmower Man, Johnny Mnemonic, Deathline (Redline), New World Disorder, Futuresport, Barb Wire......
I remember when my girlfriend first introduced this movie to me when I watched her videotape at her house after she explained it to me for 3 years when we were in high school.
I don't care if some thought this movie wasn't good because it wasn't high budget, et. I saw this once late at night, instantly loved it. Had the ending song stuck in my head forever even.
Very well spoken. Your words seem to be from the good memory section in my head too. I have never got bored watchin' this great movie again and again. The endin' scene is touched me inside.
@dragonfly4200 I wonder if Ralph Fiennes is a good kisser in real life because on he sure has the on screen kiss down to perfections. In every movie I've ever seen....he is the best kisser I've ever seen.
@TrixieBelaire Ralph Fiennes and Jude Law, they both look like good kisser. I am a die-hard Fiennes fan but check out the ending kiss in "My Blueberry Nighs" and tell me if JL is not right up there with RF.
The "Critics" who gave this movie bad reviews are and were retarded. I saw this movie in theatre and I was blown away by how awesome it is. The best thing is the fact it's 14 years old but doesn't seem the slightest bit dated. That's hard to pull off!
I remember when I first watched this scene, I rewinded it over and over again. I felt like someone had reached in and twisted up my insides, it was so intense. I LOVE this kiss! Even to this day it still makes me weak in the knees. Always been a big fan of Ralph's, and even more so after this movie. Thanks for posting!
I remember sitting at the end of my bed slack-jawed when this scene happened. That look he gives her just before he kisses her. -sigh- It's so intense. All my kisses since seeing this have been compared to this one...
I love his sense of urgency. He comes rushing to the car, banging on the windows like something's wrong. If I were Mace I would have been afraid something had happened. Lenny looks like he's saying:
"Stop the car! Get out now! Your life depends on it!"
He pulls Mace out and she's like "What?!"
Lenny's like, "Oh, nothing. I just wanted to kiss you." *smack*
I love how his world had to stop on a dime just to lock lips with her. So passionate and intense. Best kiss ever.
@stolenturtle You totally, totally nailed it. It's such an urgent, desperate moment of passion. It's so great when characters you love come together, esp. when their chemistry and the story is so well done.
I liked this movie in its entirety, but yeah, that kiss! OMG, it put me on a Ralph Fiennes trip for a long while after I saw it (like five times, lol). He has great hands too, if those were his and not a double's. Swoooonnn...
The music for this flick was also right on the mark. Silver Forest, is it?
My god that has to be the hottest kiss I've ever seen in a movie. The look on his face melts me everytime. Angela is a lucky woman to have been on the receiving end of that - acting or not!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Typical, predictable ending for a stupid movie that spells everything out to its viewers. It could've been bearable if the cops at least had ended up killing the heroes (which were really unlikable; I couldn't care less if any of them had died). I'm tired of heroes always making the day instead of getting their asses kicked. I'm also tired of stereotypes, which this movie is filled with. James Cameron sucks big time. His mind has always been full of cliches. I only saw this crap for D'onofrio.
This was an amazing scene. When they interviewed Angela, she said her legs almost gave out it was such a great kiss. It is off the chain. So much is in a scene through eyes and a kiss. WOW.
Oh how I love Angela basset. I had a big crush on her and this movie just made me fall in love with her. I still am in love with her and have a huge crush on her. her and Pam grier.
The song , the setting , everything was perfect one of the most beautiful endings i've ever seen.. Seeing it at the movie theatre was even more amazing
I remember very well when I saw this movie in the 90's, amazing movie indeed. Angela Bassett should have got 2 or 3 oscars in her career, the only reason why she got none was being too black for the film industry, really shameful
I remember watching this film waaay back in the day, I believe when it first came out and I loved it! RF/AB had fabulous chemistry and I loved the whole sci-fi, film noir aspect to the movie.. LOVED this ending song, and that kiss?! THUDD!! I waited the ENTIRE movie for that kiss, and for Lenny to finally realize that Mace was sooo in love with him.. talk about not being disappointed. RF just NAILED that ish! And AB was just gorgeous and kick azz in this movie! (love her!) GREAT film!
I like this movie very much becasue the woman takes over many times and kicks butt---and not in a skin tight boob bouncining outfit most of the time either, yaay! She's sooo cool!
such snags make it less than ingenious but just a bit! maybe thats why it got under rated, GusStorms.
i mostly got annoyed with ppl looking through the window on left when bassett destroys leni's faithful, lets call em, clips. that's the scene just after the one she kicks 3 of gant's men butts in some basement where the lamp dangles...
ladies, gentlemen, a picturesque description i gave u!
really an awesome soundtrack grame revell is really very good even the song is performed buy a woman i forgott now thename but i have an album from her
Tongue and everything. Man, I remember when I first saw this movie, and I was like when is Lenny going to wake up and realize Mace loves him. And he grabbed her out of the car, and went to town. Go, Ralph.
damn i love this movie. and that kiss. funny how he goes the whole time without ever noticing that mace was in lvoe with him. it took faith's betrayal to see that.
One of the most underrated movies, I remember watching this in Hong Kong and only two other people were in the cinema.
One of the best movies I have watched.

@stolenturtle You totally, totally nailed it. It's such an urgent, desperate moment of passion. It's so great when characters you love come together, esp. when their chemistry and the story is so well done.
This scene is sooooo awesome!

@stolenturtle Also, cocks.

Teetee33 2 years ago 5
The song in this clip is Lori Carson "Fall into the Light". I love that this song can still give me chills. That's why I don't listen to it often.

My god that has to be the hottest kiss I've ever seen in a movie. The look on his face melts me everytime. Angela is a lucky woman to have been on the receiving end of that - acting or not!!!!!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Typical, predictable ending for a stupid movie that spells everything out to its viewers.

WOW.
2007loveit 2 years ago 11
do you know which interview that was? i've been searching interviews of this movie, only found one, but wasnt really an interview

I remember very well when I saw this movie in the 90's, amazing movie indeed. Angela Bassett should have got 2 or 3 oscars in her career, the only reason why she got none was being too black for the film industry, really shameful
carlotapuig 3 years ago 17
Im glad somebody else agrees. Theres only been four black women to win an oscar. Three were supporting and one was for lead I think.

She's sooo cool!
yayoineko 3 years ago 8
Oh to switch places with Angela Basset!!!! But how did Lenny not bleed to death with such a bad wound????
ladycplum 3 years ago 2
such snags make it less than ingenious but just a bit! maybe thats why it got under rated, GusStorms.
i mostly got annoyed with ppl looking through the window on left when bassett destroys leni's faithful, lets call em, clips. that's the scene just after the one she kicks 3 of gant's men butts in some basement where the lamp dangles...
ladies, gentlemen, a picturesque description i gave u!

I loved Ralph Fiennes in this. He looked similar to Dave Gahan during his "Devotional" days.

Tongue and everything. Man, I remember when I first saw this movie, and I was like when is Lenny going to wake up and realize Mace loves him. And he grabbed her out of the car, and went to town. Go, Ralph.

Along with Shawshank Redemption, Truman Show.
