  • love you're videos

  • You had the firesteel striker facing the wrong way, follow the instructions on the striker - or better still use a knife.

  • your blowing the sparks to hard its goonnnna fly in yo face buuduyy. also use the sharp side of the metal to ignite and put pressure on the head of the metal

  • too long 5 minutes

  • thank you, you helped me SO much making a survival pack.

  • ur funny))))

  • You need oxygen, specially us fat people . Hah!

  • light the peeps on fire with a bic or zippo :)

  • i guess you can expect quality from Gerber. i have some of their tools and they're good

  • Fred try using the flint stick (the one that didnt work very well )

with the back of the knife ...You usually just need a sharper striker..

  • Fred - thanks again, always appreciate your honest videos. Nice to see someone fail on something and then practice until you get it right. Thanks again.

  • Great video, Fred! We are just now in the process of assembling our 3-day bags for our respective cars because we live in California, which is earthquake prone. Anyway, I found this video quite useful. Thanks for sharing it!

  • pretty sweet video fred, the discovery channel needs to give you a show.

  • Great Job! A+

  • made my day... why? I think you know already XD

  • I liked it. It's important to test things you buy!

  • I was able to light some t-paper with a fire stick. It's not enough to make sparks, you need to produce a miniature ember that lands on the paper to ignite it, otherwise you are just creating a lightshow. XD

  • @siralec2 I retried latter in this video and was successful.

  • @fredhart Yes I saw that, it's the reason why I went back to try myself at the fire stick method again. It works, but people should indeed try this before they need it. Another method worth checking out would probably be the bow drill. It's a bit more involved and requires some bush craft skills.

  • I was able to

  • that's a nice bike, do you ride much?

  • @posro1988 I have not been riding much, I'm a fair weather rider :)

  • I use a gallon of napalm and a magnum to shoot it.

  • o man, I can't stand those peeps! lol, When I was kid, and they would be in an Easter basket, I would just toss them in the trash. But every year they would show up again. Well, not for the last 45 years, before that... haha, yeah, starting fires indoors, outdoors, it's fun everywhere!

  • @usframe I'm not a big fan either, I just wanted to say that I was here with all my peeps :)

  • @fredhart lol, I was sure you had a big smile while eating that one. Great vids, Fred

  • Another great video Fred! ... Isn't the President sworn to defend the Constitution? I thought I read or heard that somewhere...???? Well, this President hates the Second Amendment and is on record as being against the right of citizens to carry firearms. Right after I watched your Alert video I called the NRA and renewed my not even close to expired NRA annual membership and told them to not to send me the magazine but put all the money towards legislative action. I also gave them a donation.

  • @Roberthurz Thank you for your support for us gun owners. We need more folks like you!!!

  • Good job!

  • fred, just make sure if you use toilet paper out in the wilderness,it's not used paper..wouldn't want to kill all the wildlife off :) just kidding, great vid, learned something new..

  • @USMC19777 You not suppose to use used TP???

  • Maybe this was not supposed to be funny, but I enjoyed it!

  • @thenowandaway I was done light heartedly, it was funny :)

  • Fred, google "peep off" to see what we get up to out here in CA right after Easter (when the peeps is cheap!)

  • Thx Fred, that was a neat trick with the 9V battery and steel whool.

  • Fire!

  • you need a zippo and a pint of gas....proven fire starters....really though cotton balls soaked in vaseline stored in a medicin bottle work wonders....been there done it!

  • nice fire starters you have, I have never seen the battery and steel whool before, the only thing you are missing is a book of matches..

  • Damn, I was waiting for a Peeps review :)

  • @bencanon2 I could have used that in the video!!!

  • Nice bike, is it yours?

  • ★★★★★

I always knew that Fred was a pyromaniac. Now I have video evidence of who tried to burn my channel down. I'm taking this to the Cops Fred! LMAO!

Can you do a video on that Bike you have in the background?

  • i had to laugh. your Tony Stewart shirt just said "Stew" the whole time, and then with the peeps i got hungry. I had to go to the store for beef stew and peeps

  • @MrColoradowilderness lol, Peep Stew :)

  • I think you may have been using the wrong side of the steel on the fire steel. One side of it has a little burr on it to better throw sparks.

  • LOL that was entertaining

  • Yeah fred, for the "jet lighter" it does not use battery, which is a good thing - does not run out. google "piezoelectric" if ur interested (can fail mechanically though). the jet action is useful, but also burns fuel fast.

  • I just found your channel the other night. Really good review and videos. Keep it up man!

  • had one cheap ass ferrocium rod too, worked bad, and less than a milimeter deep. the core didnt give sparks at all. Waste of $, trashed it. Also once bought chinese magnesium block 4 testing, was a copy of the US army issue and only little cheaper. the rod on it sparked ok, but the block itself was cast out of alluminium, which does not work of course. The original US army one works well, and theswedish "light my fire" rods work perfect also.

  • Do the lighters work if they get wet?

  • very intresting video as always Fred. was the bear grylls fire steel made from ferocerium ?and a cool little tip; wrap a rubber band on those lighters ( rubber will catch fire even when wet ).A good day

  • man always made fire for woman :) you need one of my gel waxed cotton balls!!!

  • @fredhart it really doesnt need to be all fine you can just tear off a piece and it only takes a little bit of steel wool with medium amount of tinder but great vid keep em comin

  • @pyrocharlie5 With a name like Pyrocharlie, you got to know what you are talking about :) Thank you!!!

  • lol, here with my peeps...

  • @cutlerylover I know, it was corny :)

  • @fredhart I think they taste kind of sweet, actually.....love peeps. They are God's gift to us.

  • Your homeowners insurance just went up!!

  • @Lookinformemarbles lol, thanks

  • what kind of motorcycle is that in the background?

  • @2002flstci Yamaha V-Star 1100

  • great video Fred,I learned alot

  • @TDF090779 Thank you very much

  • where did you buy that small kit and how much?, oh and i see you had the striker backwards, flip it over so you are using a corner

  • @itxploded I bought the kit at a camping and army surplus store. I think it was around 7 bucks

  • @fredhart i want that kit, haha ive wanted one of those match things forever, never found one though

  • @itxploded Thank you so much for the info and help
