I could understand if Apple had a patent on the snapdragon processor (that the google nexus one uses) and they were upset about someone else using it. However, most of these weak patents that they have the right to is pretty plain and ridiculous. I'm surprise they don't sue HTC and others for giving the consumer the right to look at the phone or have a touch screen in general. Sorry if others don't feel the same way I do but Apple is getting a little ridiculous here.

It's impossible for any company to have a patent on a processor produced by another company. You can't file a patent and say "see that company's product? only we can use it"...

And it seems plain now but those were Apple's ideas in 2007 and they were granted the patents so it's their right to do what they want with them.

@everyone. Everybody is making excellent points here, however, fact of the matter is that android is slowly catching up to the apple marketplace and apple isn't like it at all. Apple should have sued HTC alot sooner because they are acting like the basic stuff that htc is using was brought forth yesterday. Apple knew that htc was planning to put these "swipe to unlock, etc" features in their phones months before these phones were released. Apple is just bitter that the tide is turning.

While it's true that Apple doesn't like the fact that HTC is gaining popularity with Android, and they are approaching the iPhone's level of quality and polish, I think the reason why they are suing is because they don't want their competition to steal from them. They want their competition to be original and come up with their own damn ideas.
