So tell me does this pass California exhaust emmissions I don't think it does considering I've never heard of anything with straight pipes pass any states emisions
@monstermiataman it's not legal for any visual inspection, but catted straight pipes will definitely pass a tailpipe test. Most smog techs here don't go all the way through with the visual inspection, so it only ever becomes a problem if you get pulled over for it...
wow, reading some of these comments... it is a bit loud, but hey not bad if you are running at the track, the cops always seem to pull me over for excessively loud exhaust... but to each their own if you ask me...
yeah dude, jus straigt piped mine today, well, jus unbolted all the shit, sounds fuckn good wen ur floorin it, but yeah, not so good if ur tryin not to attract attention, specically cops. still hella sik, spec miata status!!
no offense, but it sounds like ass.. take it from someone who has owned 3 miatas.. buy a supertrapp for it and give it some back pressure it will have more power and it wont sound like its trying so hard, and going no where..
@slideroadster lmao. There is no exhaust system out there at all that will gain you any notable power gains on a bone stock miata. Sound is however the key to enjoying your car and having fun driving it. I have way more experience than you ever will, so how about you go die in a fire?
@HaigoG Actually you can probaly gain 3 HP just from swapping the cat our for a straight pipe on the stock exhaust. Couple that with a good intake and youre looking at closer to 10+hp total
@JD0x0 meh...I'd still say 10hp isn't very notable. I gained 14hp by going to standalone ECU(megasquirt) which cost me like $200...Then I picked up an M45 supercharger for 800 and gained 63whp/42wtq...
Even using all eBay parts, Intake/header/exhaust/hi-flow cat combo costs $440...the cost/benefit ratio just isn't that awesome for those parts on a miata, unless you're planning to run a class which restricts you to those mods.
I drove it like this for 2 weeks, then decided it was too loud. I couldn't flog the car around town anymore since it was so beastly. So then I added a magnaflow muffler and cutout so I could hear the sound of God every now and then. But I recently got a ticket(with the cutout capped off!!!) for modded exhaust, so I took out the cutout and added a big glasspack and now it's quite tame. = (
god that sounds ugly...just install a cherry bomb muffler..i did on my Miata.

I had the same setup with no cat. I wish I could upload videos from my old school camera because it would prove your statement of WOT sound.

I went straight pipe with just a 12" glass pack...
after leaving the muffler shop, i went around the block for a test run..
and gosh deng it was way too loud..
went right back to the muffler shop to put the stock muffler back on..LOL..
what a waste..had to pay for two installs! FML

Just a 2" pipe all the way through and a simple back box sounds perfect and has the right amount of back pressure for most.

Lol supertrapps sound absolutely horrible I don't know what you're smoking on.
This setup sounds absolutely GODLIKE at WOT in real life, the cam just can't capture the glory...leatherface24's vid shows it better...

@HaigoG if u say so buddy, sound isnt the key to power, and you can change the sound of a super trapp... check it out, get some experience

Hey guys been a while since I've been here.
It was just hf cat and then nothing after that.
I drove it like this for 2 weeks, then decided it was too loud. I couldn't flog the car around town anymore since it was so beastly. So then I added a magnaflow muffler and cutout so I could hear the sound of God every now and then.
