  • ehm I'm 18 years schoolgirl!very little and playful!Kiss Kiss

  • So hilarious, and as a piece of art should, it grows on you with each subsequent viewing. Also excellent when viewer's mind is altered by certain means. xxxxx

  • This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Brilliant.

  • Charlie would have a good laugh because unlike you he doesn't take himself that seriously.

  • yep. good!

  • yep. good!

  • How is this different from a regular Charlie Rose episode? Doesn't he always just talk to himself?

  • Comment removed

  • Pure. Genius.

  • Radiohead :D

  • SEQUEL! SEQUEL!

  • I'm confused... did samuel beckett write this or not...? I dont think he did...

  • Of course!.....................steve jobs! How could I have missed that? But who the hell is this mysterious craig fellow?

  • ilove that you used him squirming in i his chair getting the right position for what seems like a hemroid or sensite ass situation... yes... experienced

  • Every time I watch this video, I can't stop saying "google" for at least an hour.

  • @FatMat426

No, we're not going to do that.

  • Charlie Rose has how many hours of content that you could work with and this is what you wasted my time with. Hey tinman. Get a brain.

  • @tucsonan3

    Agreed.

  • @tucsonan3 What a complete loser to criticize this with such vehemence. Some talentless bum surfing the internet. Show us your creative endeavors.

  • 118 "people" are assholes.

  • Man, this absolutely rules.

  • Awesome, I actually got an authentic Beckett tingle somewhere in the middle there. (But what IS authenticity? as Charlie might ask.) Also satisfying to notice the similarity between Ol' Charlie's minimal jumpy jazzy theme tune and the theme to that other brilliantly absurd Beckett derivative, Seinfeld.

  • I totally love this, and you whoever you are!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HA! :)

  • I find this very very funny

  • Well Done!

  • 118 people are named Steve

  • Steve is not happy

  • 116 people are not happy with the process.

  • Google.

  • Microsoft... Yahoo. Google! Microsoft...Yahoo....

  • genius

  • he doesnt have much to say does he

  • did you understand a thing ????????????

  • This is brilliant! Cheers for posting/mixing.

  • I love the FT!!! Gillian Tett is hot!

  • Anybody else here from the Financial Times interview?

  • @xTheLDx I love the FT!!! Gillian Tett is hot!

  • gotta love that smirk after radiohead

  • hes talkin about steve jobs

  • Finally, Rose knows what it's like to get interrupted every 3 seconds when trying to answer a question

  • BAHAHHAHAA Nice job funny!

  • Google

  • hahaha! so hilarious, thanks!

  • Brilliant editing. Hilarious!!! Deliciously absurd, ...like the human existence!

I would love to see how this was made. What editing software did you use I wonder?

  • YOUPUPE

  • Wow...I am surprised people don't like this. Perhaps they have no experience with Charlie Rose so they lack context. I don't know. I think this is hilarious! The uncomfortable silent stares are some of the funniest moments.

  • Some creative student ought to take the posts written by the people who don't know who Beckett was and didn't get he joke and fit them together as dialogue -

    "Poor quality youtube poop."

"You mean youtube won an award?"

    "Overrated..."

"Who the hell is editing these magazines anyway?"

"I duno..I dont know what ya find funny bout it...and I really gave it a chance cause one of my humorless friends decided to email it to me...oh well.."

"This is a very stupid edit..."

  • This was hysterical!

  • Wired over-rated this clip

  • I agree this is the best video on you tube. Fine art at its best!!!! I love it!!!

  • Radiohead.

  • Nice, but Charlie Rose never keeps his mouth shut that long - unfortunately.

  • Amazing!!!! the other guy..did not look like Samuel Beckett, lol Only a creative mind can create something so brilliant. Bravo.

  • Excellent. Where else would this work so beautifully? Thank You.

  • "Malkovich, Malkovich".

    "Malkovich?"

    "MALKOVICH! Malkovich, malkovich malkovich Malkovich".

  • best CR segment yet....!!!!

  • Yahoo and.....what was the other?

  • Brilliant!

  • What's gonna happen?

    Nothing.

    Twice.

  • You mean a youtube poop won an award?

  • This video should have 10,000,000 views, and should be submitted to a film festival. Wonderful.

  • Shame on Wired for sending me to not one, but TWO boring, dated videos. Who the hell is editing these magazines, anyway?

  • ...This was boring. I would have thought Wired- a magazine I expect to be on top of trends, new media, new devices- wouldn't send me to two videos now, from the same article, both of which are over a year old, and absolutely unnoteworthy. Shame on you, Wired!

  • brilliant, bravo, bravo, bravo

  • Overrated....

  • Thumbs up if you're preparing for Wired U's Writing for New Forms class.

  • Genius! I will laugh every time I hear the words "Google" or "Radiohead" for at least the next six months! Thank you!

  • @idster7 No, we're not gonna do that.

  • Google

  • Microsoft and Yahoo

  • This is a very stupid edit. There's nothing disturbing about Rose's comments; the editing makes it seem like you have a vendetta against him. & I wonder why ratings have been disabled for this video. Maybe it's because the video is unpopular. And if it's from the same episode, why is Rose wearing different ties?

  • @idster7 - Yours is a very stupid post.

    Google....

  • @idster7 You are the biggest fuck tard ever, have you ever read Beckett?

  • @Lowlsnail nope. & a cursory view of his wikipedia entry doesn't clarify the issue.

  • @idster7 Oh I want to know is why you seem to think that people don't change their clothes? It seems pretty odvious that if you are filming it might take a while so one might change ones clothes, oh and by the way this is an extremly popular video, it was actually name by some magazines the best Youtube video so maybe they disable the rating so idiots who don't get the joke (aka you) wouldn't give this video a shit rating!

  • This is incredible.... !!!!

  • Google.

  • i duno..i dont know what ya find funny bout it...and i really gaave it a chance cause one of my humorless friends decided to email it to me...oh well..

  • bizarre and crudely edited...very poor audio arrangement..

  • @Heynanners shut up sir or ma'am. It's what's called funny. If you want high quality stuff make it yourself and post on 4chan you dumb nerd.

  • Google.

  • Boy, this is pretty droll. I can understand, though, why Beethovens7th thought it retarded. I recommend watching some old Max Headroom segments. Hm, on second thought, maybe stuff like this is just too tongue in cheek for some.

Ok, so Rose can seem pompous at times; I guess that's where the charm of this lies. But what the hell. I enjoyed it. I know my sense of humor doesn't always appeal to folks, either. Too bad, eh?

  • google

  • Well at least this wasn't a waste of just my time.

  • Google

  • Honestly? No. Beckett's comedy derives from the tension. The pauses happen when characters can't say what's obviously on their minds and it takes a while to get there. These pauses simply make the character(s) look inarticulate and stupid. Its mildly amusing but this wouldn't hold my attention for ten minutes, let alone an hour and a half.

  • Beckett would do it better, but still quite funny.

  • absolute comedic gold!! whoever clipped this together is my absolute hero

  • Thank you for this, Dearly + Sincerely.

    Radio-head.

  • I always learn something on the Charlie Rose show. As many filmmakers and writers are on the show, I bet Mr. Rose himself likes this very good video.

  • Brilliant higbrow hijinks. "What's going to happen?" Charlie says to himself...

  • This is absolutely retarded. Get a life.

  • i laughed so hard pee came out!! BRILLIANT.

  • What a great take on Ohio Impromptu. Thank you!!

  • google.

  • "steve is not happy with the process so far"

straight out of beckett, that line

  • Outstanding, touching, sinister and hilarious.

  • Finally, works that use YouTube Poop-ish techniques are garnering institutional acclaim!

  • kickass!! Very well done sir.

  • Charlie Rose is a scumbucket! The lowest of the low!

  • This was a good idea, but not done very well. Weak.

  • @ezramead

I thought it started pretty slow but I was cracking up halfway through.

  • gew-gull

  • Brilliant.

  • (Comment)

    (EndComment)

    (....)

  • google... no were not gunna do that.

  • Anyone notice that Charle sounds a bit like Howard Beale in this clip?

  • brillian!t hahahahaha.

  • ... google

  • Brilliant

  • HaHaHa!!!!!! that is soo true. search denzel and Smiley. Denzel crushes him.

  • @cordedpoodle

Rose is brilliant. He asks excellent questions and gets straight to the heart of the most interesting aspects of his interviewees. He is a knowledge sponge. How could anyone fail to appreciate this man's brilliance?

Now, I don't mean to be offensive, and if you prefer other interviewers I certainly can't begrudge you that, but saying something like "Who hires these guys?" shows a lack of respect that, frankly, makes you look either ignorant or unintelligent.

  • Brilliant!

  • Haha this was a riot!!

  • Very well done!

  • This is like Negativland work product. There's nothing Beckettian about it at all. Have you read any of Beckett's novels or plays, or seen any of the latter performed?

  • That's missing the point. It's not supposed to be a dead ringer but a send-up of the cliches of Beckett and other Theater of the Absurd dramatists. Basically the ineffectiveness of language is the main idea here but it's mostly a joke, so don't take the Beckett part too seriously.

  • I got the "point." It just doesn't work, and it's not funny. In order to effectively send up something, you have to get it yourself. Clearly the poster of this piece doesn't.

  • Whatever, I find it funny. Not everything branded with something has to be as dense as the source. I enjoy it because it's funny, not because I "get it." Wonderful three thumbs down in less than an hour, too, that's classy.

  • If you're implying that I gave you three thumbs down, you don't know any more about YouTube than you do about Beckett or humor. In the first place, I didn't bother giving you a thumbs down, and if I had, YouTube only allows one per user. Evidently at least three others also disagree with you.

  • I'm not mad, I just find it funny you logged onto two other accounts and thumbed me down, then thumbed yourself up. But whatever, I don't know anything about Youtube, Beckett or humor, but I'm the one that laughed at this video and laughter's better than pedantic rage. That is all. Cheers.

  • Look, asshole, I have precisely one e-mail account, attached to precisely one YouTube account, and I've thumbed nothing either up or down. My "rage" is not pedantic, it's exasperated. I'm sick of being spammed by a fuckwit with a two-digit IQ on a Saturday morning. Please, find another hobby.

  • Alright, call it a draw cutie. Enjoy your Saturday. I have to write a paper on postmodernism. GASP! Scene! Curtain!

  • Microsoft and Yahoo. Microsoft; Yahoo. Why wasn't Yahoo Yahoo? Steve is not happy. Google. Google. Google. No, we're not going to do that. Google. No. Google. No, we're not going to do that. Google. Radiohead. Okay, I'll stop. It's actually very effective to listen to it: it's missing a long-enough Lucky's "intellectual rant", but otherwise, this is pretty kick-ass.

  • Steve was certainly a good subtistute for a godotian redemption, but im not sure how Beckatian some of the choices were. Still you were limited, its a valiant effort and genuinley hilarious.

  • Im trippin out!

  • F. hilarious!

  • ..google..

  • Freakin' hilarious.

    Nothing to be done.

    Should we wait?

    Nothing to be done.

    We'll wait.

  • When he first said "Google" out of nowhere, i was rollin!

  • this was amazing... Good work!

    So Waiting for Godot! =D

  • THIS IS HYSTERICAL!

  • Wonderful.

  • Oh God, Charlie's gotta love this! Good work- lots of work I'm sure.

  • that was really funny!!!

  • i wet my pants

    BROOD!

  • WELL THAT WAS INTERESTING

  • Love Charlie but that was pretty funny. My favorite part was "Radiohead." ...Stumped... got me

  • wow, that was awesome

  • Hahahaha! Fucking brilliant.

  • THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO ON YOUTUBE. I watch it every day.

  • you should definitely read waiting for godot in that case:) that's if you havn't already:)

  • well done andrew flippone jr. i got alot of laughter from this piece. verry cleverly put together. thank you, will you be making anything simular any time soon?

  • Fun times.

  • I'm at work, editing a promo for the Charlie Rose show right now. Searched youtube to check some show clips I don't have in my assets yet. Thought this was a legit show clip when I first hit play... then it made me laugh out loud and totally saved my stressful work day. Thanks!

  • I'm sorry, i don't see what people are raving about here.

  • You probably have to know the hollow ravings people did in the last 10 years on the so-called new economy.

This work is incredible and it's one of the few art films I could watch over and over again. Watching it feels like a catharsis to me.

  • It's black, yellow and rectangular.

  • is he drunk?

  • I wonder whether Charlie Rose himself is aware of this video, and what he makes of it/what he would make of it.

  • Wonderful, but I think the overuse of "Google" killed the effect near the end; I don't think it works as a "comedy of overuse" (cf. Mr. Tarkanian trident stabbing / Sideshow Bob stepping on rake) gag, nor as an absurdity. But overall, a delight. I wish the real show was just this every night.

  • Bing Whoo?

  • Beckett is the greatest author of the absurd theatre in the story of the human kind! he is a genius!

    world, feel it!

  • of course it is.. i know! but my opinion about beckett remains the same!

  • this makes me feel good inside.

  • This is hilarious!!

  • Nice and absurd! Like it.

  • this is my favorite video that ive ever seen

  • Great editing! If Beckett were still around, he, too, would be "waiting for Steve."

  • Pretty poor.

  • you're pretty poor

  • wut

  • This doesn't seem to be a 'work of genius' to me and the rather pretentious blurb in the video info is ridiculous. The Beckett link is laughable. It is amusing though.
