  • Love watching this while listening.

  • Oh my god ! you own a T8 !!! Please make us some T8 demos.

  • I want drumtraks :-)

  • Loving your equipment - this sounds great!

  • excellent!!! congratulations!!

  • Oberheim obx is originnally sound in red ballons??

  • @SimmonsDrums

Yep. In the original recording it was an OB-X; this is an OB-Xa.

  • That sound is mad!

  • yeaaaaaah, i love this sound! how long are you collecting your equipment? its really really amazing to see your synthesizer wall!

    best regards from germany

  • What's that lovely creature beneath the OVX-a?

and by the way awesome performance and thanks for sharing

  • Damn why can't they create music now with such great instruments as these!

  • I have the sonicprojects OPX-II VSTi... It must have been really awesome to have one of these synths back in the day....

  • You are awesome

  • Bad f'n ass! That would be my dream synth rack right there, too. Good stuff.

  • Yeah! Samples or emulation can't match the real thing. Thanks for sharing.

  • Even though these instruments are all electronic, there is a "humanity" to them. Today's digital NOISE being passed off as music has no identity at all. It's all swirling swooping frenzy without soul or musical structure. I have no emotional connection to the synth and sample music being made today because there is no attempt at creating a connection with the listener. Now it's all about throwing a thousand tracks of SOUNDS at you because they CAN. You seem right at home in that room! I envy you

  • Seriously, make a full-on version of this track with the Drum Trax kicking into double time. That would be incredible, man!

  • the obx sounds sooo f*ckin sexy

  • nice!!!!! nice synths bro and nice cover :D

  • Nice one! I remember listening to that fat synth bass sound as a little kid and thinking it was cooler than any guitar or drum in the world. Are those inversions of standard chords or just really unusual chords, like 11ths without the 3rd and 9? Was Nena rewriting the laws of music? ;)

  • I am gay for synthesizers.

  • wow brilliant

  • Great demo! I believe the synth shown in the video was an OB-Xa, with cuts to a Prophet 5 - it's been ages since I saw the vid. I own an OB-8 and a Prophet 5, but they both need marginal repairs. I'm in limbo right now, so the repairs will wait. I want to use them again. I'm most impressed that you have a Sequential Prophet T-8. I would rate that among the highest echelons of vintage analog polysynths. The best! Memorymoog too, but I've heard of reliability issues. Love all my synths. Each is A+

  • SO!! fucking awesome!!!

  • genial eres un genio¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Two thumbs up!

  • You are totally awesome. I love your videos, I love your synths and i think you playing them is amazing! thanks for the videos Oberheim is the way!

  • @julietcharlieen1 thanks mate. thats good of you

  • wow good job- love the original song both the english and greman versions - I think you have a great job of recreating them....

    -congrats-

    -DJ Electfire

  • I never want to touch a VST again

  • Absolutely fabulous! U can't believe I havnt seen this!! I'd totally Trade my Oasys 88 for those 3 Pieces!! Excellent!!!

  • your sythersizer look vary old from the 80's .but it sound great .nice job well done thanks

  • NICE u just need hot grrl walking around in fog!!! LOL

  • Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. This is so cool. Great job, man!

  • Awesome!

The OB truly has some very warm strings & a fat sound on the low end.....Hopefully Mr. T. Oberheim will reproduce the OB as an updated version with MIDI output like Dave Smith did with the Prophet 8 that i bought myself for Christmas

  • wow...just plain wow...

  • What's the board below the Oberheim?

  • @MichaelJHuman Yamaha CS80... beautiful synth!!

  • @MPCpadBanga

    Actually it's a SCI Prophet T8, a monstrous polysynth!!

  • @lamustia yea your completely right... idk why i thought it was a CS80, its missing all the colorful sliders and knobs!

  • @MichaelJHuman

    thats a SCI T8 I believe

  • congratulations, i don't write perfect english, but i wanna say you have a nice synth, I wanna a Synth...

    Grettings from Toluca, Mexico!

    Felicidades!!!!

  • phat bass

  • Nothing beats that Oberheim base sound

  • this is my 10+ time watching this video well done bro thanks

  • very nice!

  • Wow, This was GREAT

  • sick bassline son!!!

  • Okay that takes me back.

  • the intro sounds great. so warm

  • so 'Red Balloons' is in A ?

  • It was originally in E, I believe, with the chord changes being E, F#m, A, B.

  • Listen to that bass growl.

Like an orphan child hungry for food.

  • Nice OBX-a but I'm more interested in the Prophet-T8 underneath, I'm an SCI guy :-)

  • is the mod wheel on there not spring loaded?

  • Mod wheels are normally not spring loaded. Pitch bend wheels are.

  • YESSSS !!! ^^ bring back so much memory ^^

  • Right on!!!

  • I had an Oberheim OB-X 8-voice back in 1980. I went to a Dixie Dregs concert, and T Lavitz had just gotten an OB-Xa, with this "split keyboard" (BIG deal at the time). He was all proud of it and drug me up on stage during soundcheck to see it (we were buds back then), and we started playing around on it. We started getting goofy and played "Heart and Soul" on it, and the crowd went nuts !!!:P Good times !!! Great sound, and nice keys in the pic. Peace:-)

  • very nice i wish you make more videos

  • This is dope...

  • hell yes!

  • Jesteś poprostu talent

  • what are the cords in the intro

  • amazing dude... damn rly good work.. that was rly cool.. 5/5

  • muy bueno!!! sigue asi amigo

  • sounds fucking beautiful!!!!

  • Bloody hell, you're good, it's not often you hear something covered THAT precisely!

  • hell yeah !

  • @themanmaschine You can say that again.

  • you are a pro.

  • DANG!!!!!YOURE GOOD. YOURE ALMOST THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL> And when i mean almost, i mean much better lol.

  • better than original

  • si q si!!!

  • Great sounds. I love the OBX.

  • e..

  • How fucking rich are you? Or how long did it take you to save up to buy all that expensive shit?

  • ages mate. but its nice to work for it then you get want you want its a dream come true, thanks for your comment.

  • Nice T8

  • heey thats good

  • Wooo!

    pure groove!

Are the sounds from the SCI Drumtraks it's originals?

Your able to change the tone right?

    Sounds abit different..

  • Its original but has verb on it

  • @markduff Original, with one exception: Fahrenkrog-Petersen plays the reprise of the main hook ( @ 1:24 ) with BOTH the bass and the right hand, at the SAME time. This is a little tricky to play I agree, needs lots of practise.

  • Sooooo good. Love that synth. Why don't they make synths like that anymore?

  • yeh dude

  • the funk!@

  • thanks for watching....? no thank you for sharing this awesome video and i have a question was this the same keyboard that was used by the band back in the days?

  • hi. thanks for your comment. i know that the band used the Oberheim OBx which is the version before this model. they might have used the obxa. they also used a prophet 5.

  • damn,

I need to start programming my OBXa a little more ;)

  • That Oberheim looks and sounds godly

  • That SHIT SOUND FAT!!! Must be WESOME alive :P great settup

  • Great synths! Great playing! Great tune!

  • And not a hairy armpit in sight !! lol great stuff !!!

  • please make a tutorial for this

  • Thankyou very much!!;)

  • What is the support system / racks / stands you use? It that a stock item? what make? - thankyou.

  • hi they are A frame supports from a German company called Jaspers. check them out online. good luck

  • Your synth collection. I just cant seem the right words to express, how great it is. I'd die for that ob.

  • The lows on the Oberheim are friggin' DEADLY!

    Well done.

  • Awesome job!! Sounds just like the real song :)

  • Very, very nice. What's make the OB sound so great? I seem to recall people saying it's all about the filter. I have never understood how the filter can create such a fantastic sound though.

  • hi thanks for your comment. ahhh what makes the obxa sound good? its not just the filter its the oscillators. the voice boards. it is a phatter and more organic sounding synth compared to some other synths. basically every voice board has its slight differences in tuning etc. which the ear picks up. which is why it sounds busy. with many things going on in the sound. (not clean) hope this helps. its wierd to explain.

  • Yeahhh very cool !

  • good stuff dude. i have a clavia nord stage w. a nice synth part.clavia makes good synth to(european brand)... but this one is a classic

  • niiiiice i need a keyboard to split sounds like that

  • really nice. full props mate, 5 starts

  • Nevermind my silly comment. I meant of course the opposite!

  • I was really sure about the fatness of oberheim. Not any more! :)

  • Really nice!

It's a pity You didn't play the refrain of the song.

    But as original :)

  • fookin phatty OBX pwns all!!!

  • Can you make a video of the camera up close to the keyboard so we can see what keys you are pressing, sort of like a tutorial...

  • the bass sounded like a horn sound played at the lower octave.

  • i thought it was the prophet 5 to do the basslines

  • could have been a prophet 5 as well. in the video it is, yet on the live concert its a Oberheim OBX i used the OBXa for this because my OBX doesnt work at the moment

  • If you want i change my OB-X excellent condition with your OB-X Dead

  • i got the last version OBX made. with full midi convertion/ computer interface/ plus 8 voices and mint condition.

    explain your machine? thanks

  • I have 3 OBX, 2 OBX Version "2" (4 Voice with JL Cooper Kit extension 96 Patch + 8 Voice in excellent condition with revision) and the last it's a version "3" with Kenton Midi and 6 Voice...i search the last version for the Computer Interface, i have also Jupiter 8, MS-10, MS-20, Six-Trak and Roland AX-7

  • Once again this is really a very nice setup of your vintage gear worthy of envy. Cool bass line. Cheers

  • Nice OBXa but I'd really like to hear that sweet Prophet T8!

  • i'll have to do some stuff on the T8 soon. have you ever played one???? ther'e bloody sweet as you said.

  • Waouhh !! Great !

  • Give me the OBX or i will invade your home

  • ha ha. its an OBX-a this one...
