Sreve Mc Queen wanted this car in Bullit but on the day Fred and Al were having so much fun drag racing kids in jap cars they were late , so there was this couple of drunks that walked out of a bar and were getting into the Plymouth so they got the part.the guy that fell of the Triumph had just robbed a bank so when the police that was chashing him saw it was a movie being made they just kept going past, Steve was so inpressed with him he rode in the great escape,
@jgsr1014 No and after researching I discovered that the one in this video is the original TV car and the second one that was used in the Dragula Video is owned by George Barris.
Its a copy. I live a few blocks from Barris' shop in North Hollywood. The real one is there quite often. George is very aproachable. If it's there, he will show it to you.
I would so buy this, if the times arent how they are and I went clear down to 8 bucks an hour. I should have bought one when I had the chance.... GREAT CAR!!!!!
@landart67 As I remember, the original had a Lincoln 430 in it. And you might remember the Munster episode titled "Hot Rod Herman". They took this car and some other Munster hot rod coach to the drags and ran 'em. I ALWAYS wished I could have known what kind of times they ran. Does anybody know?
barris kept the koach till the mid 80s then it was sold at a movie car auction, a weird family in america bought it, then it went to a museum in new york, then it was found by chance by a car collecter in england where i live, see second post
i have photos of me sat in the front seat i go and see it as often as i can, its in a poor state a lot of the original parts are missing, its a shame it just sits in the museum and never moves, and thats the story of the munster koach, if you need any more info i will only be to glad to help.
IM 31 but all ways loved this car loved watching still do The Munsters.Glad American Muscle came out with a 1:18 model all ways wanted a model of this car.
The Koach is the original movie car (#2). the TV car (#1) is in England in a museum-it was sold right after filming stopped. This car was built when they decided to make the Munster Movies and George Barris has had it ever since.
That is not the original Munster movie car that is a copy that was built for the Munster tv special in 95 the original Koach used in the Movies and tv show was sold This information come straight out of Barris Tv and Movie Cars!
I am 54 years old, I have seen hundreds of Hot Rod, this is my favorite! Guess which one is my 2nd favorite? Grand Pa's Dragula! There is not very much video of the Koach, other than what you can see on The Munster show!
banner above it says "perk up your day" seeing this, has already done that.
