If Link's Awakening was a trilogy movie. I can see this masterpiece play when is Link waking up on the driftwood while tears are rolling down his face and he just lays on the wood face down crying saying - "WHY WHY!?!" Wiping the endless flow of tears from his eyes and trying to talk thought his sorrow - " It may have been a dream, but you were real to me Marin. I wlll keep my promice to you Marin I will always remeber you. You will live on in my heart and memories."

@SmashingGreen Secret ending? Is this for the 3DS version? Cause I only played the masterpiece on the gameboy. When you beat the game without dying the differents is after the end credits instead of of bird flying across you'll get Marin as a fairy frying across. Is that what your talking about? If not this sounds interesting.

@gentleEvan yes, that's what I mean ;) and I put "secret ending" in quotation marks, because it's not really another ending... and it's not Marin as a fairy, it's Marin as a seagull - that was Marin's wish, she told you when you both were sitting at the beach, if I remember correctly: to be a bird and fly away, over the horizon.

That's why I wrote earlier that Marin WAS real :)

@gentleEvan if Marin's biggest wish came true, I think it's okay this way... well, as long as you don't try to interpret some kind of a love story between Link and Marin, like many fangirls do with every single girl in the entire Zelda-series >.< ;)

LA is one of my favourite-Zeldas, but in the hole story line, it's nothing more but a filler... there is no need to see Marin again in another game, you understand? the story of this game is over and Nintendo should leave it at that... :)

Funny thing is I wrote other story parts on other Ballad of the Wind Fish remake and people like it. Who knew that would happen cause I didn't. Be well.

Actually Link smiled at the end. I think it was because he recognized the fact that his experiences were a combination of his thoughts being made real because of the wind fish.

So in a sense, his dream was "in him" to begin with (or, him and the wind fish). Nothing was truly lost, per se. They stayed with him since they came FROM him (the dreamer) in the first place.

They don't make Zelda games like Link's Awakening anymore... Story-wise I mean. I was very pleased with Ages, Ocarina, Mask, Waker, but it ended with Princess. I hope Sword is as rewarding... Awakening was just... Wow... Awe-striking. Among the greatest of the masterpieces from Nintendo.

this just reminds me of the whole story to this game, Link basically destroys a whole island, causes it to not exist just so he can leave.

It was in a way a twisted story, the island created out of the nightmare that kept the windfish asleep, by defeating the evil Link destroys an entire island, loads of people.
