Pure power. In another video Markku Alen told that driving these vehicles was/is very challenging. Basically you need to pump the accelerator pedal throughout corners to create enough boost pressure. The shear power transmitted to all 4 wheels was another concern. 500hp is very hard stuff to handle if the car is not completely set up for current terrain and route. As Alen said, usually Lancia acted like a mad horse needing a stern hand to manouvere through special stages.

It's a combination of supercharger for power at low RPM and turbocharger for high RPM!

The purpose of this combination was to avoid the turbo lag who had the other cars such Audi S1 in low rpm!

It's was a monster of power!
