  • how long till the dooms day?

  • Im gonna start my seed bank ..my wife thinks im crazy seeing alot of the survival vids..but in mind i know i'll be ready if it does comes to use what ive seen in many of the vids..they will be coming to me for advice...ive also started buying ammo every wk thanks keep up the good vids

  • If you save your own seeds that you grow, then it is pretty much a rolling seed bank.

  • A seed bank in some country over there is fine and dandy, the problem with it is quantity, distribution, and a single or limited instance of places such as that. Not good to put all the eggs (seeds) into one basket in some far off place. Need like dozens of places perhaps with a hundred mile radius. I don't feel safe with only one place storing seeds, but maby it's intent is to really give us the initiative to save seeds and not have false hope in only them.

  • The over flow pond is a curious site and is producing. Thanks for the videos and inspiration, Keep up the good work ..... THOMAS

  • I watched this video about a year ago before I subscribed to your channel. I realized that I am also a seed collector. The differance is I kept my seeds everywhere. Since watching your video they have all been gathered together. Also seeds have been salvaged from the garden. I think you had a video somewhere that was a survivalists style garden where you grew zuchini or squash also. I experimanted by growing some excess pumpkin and cucumber seeds on the edge of the over flow pond at work.

  • I really like all the information you give out. Has been very helpful. I recently just started my garden and hope to put it up soon on you tube. I also like in your videos how saving seeds from your crops helps them adapt to your garden for the next season. And I very much enjoyed your kids laughing and giggling on your lantern, flashlight, black out demo. You have good children, probably the most important seeds you got.

  • So many seeds. Where to begin your collection?

  • Heirloom seeds or there are a one time use... Make sure your neighbors don't have hybrids either, the bees will cross polinate and ruin the seeds... just need info.

  • Everyone's comments are spot-on. You definitely need to have a stock of your own, non GMO seeds, AND know how to grow them.

  • what are non gmo seeds?

  • The think is, quality of seeds deteriorates over the years..at best, you can keep your seeds for 3-4 years. It's best to use them (plant them), and collect new seeds from the plants.

  • Watch out for terminator seeds that are know mostly as hybrid seeds. terminator seeds are seeds that grow friut or vegitables but only once. In other words you cannot use the seeds of the vegitables or fruit you grew its genetically modified to make infertel seeds. Go with heirloom seeds only to ensure Monsanto hasen't laced your food with viruses and animals genetically. P.E.A.C.E. positive ,energy, activates, constant ,elevation

  • All that stuff is great, except the ocra (yuck).

  • This guy is very knowledgeable, and seems like a nice regular guy to boot! Good vids!

  • 75 cents??! where do you buy your seeds from?? are they organic?

  • weird

  • farzingluten - enjoy starving during the next pandemic.

  • look at what we did to japan their soil was not suitable for harvest for what about 50years and even then there was a decent level of risk.

nuclear fallout sucks i think nuclear devices are the great mistake in mans history and man has a long list of mistakes, but that one hits number 1.

  • Or maybe you could live about 1 year on your food supply. When that runs out you'll start looking around, wonderin where to get your next meal. Then you might feel kinda stupid for not growing your own crops...

  • well in a year hes gona have food what will you have ?

  • These vids are to inform people on how to be prepared. All those scenarios you stated are exactly right BUT you'll still have the knowledge. Now whether you can utilize that knowledge or not is a different story..............but having its not gonna kill you just in case!

  • Even if you don't believe that the country is about to spiral into some kind of chaotic "end times" wasteland, which I don't, it's still wise to maintain a garden and have a supply of seeds.

The one thing that bothers me, and should bother you if you bothered to do the research, is how homogenized our food supply is. America grows too much of the same thing. What happens if a virus evolves to kill the corn which is mass produced here? There goes our food supply.

  • @farzingluten its "completely paranoid and crazed hicks" like this guy who will laugh at your malnourished ass when the time comes and you're starvin' like marvin'. You're either prepared or you're a victim- and you're arrogance to disaster situations that may occur, (more realistically the crash of the dollar, then tax revolts, then food shortages, then civil unrest) which mind you will happen with the way our economy looks are going to be the reason why idiots like yourself starve to death.

  • What happens if the soil is bad from poison or some kind of spill ?You can not plant the seeds then ??? what is the answer for that to be a survivalist

  • well you can plant seeds in bad soil as usualy crops & plants tend to clean up the soil rather well

  • OH I see thanks for the reply good to know .

  • you and your wife are both amazing and thanks

  • Great info you rock!

  • First we plant the seeds then nature grooows the seeds then we eat the seeds. (Don't forget the garden Gnome!)

    -Niel

  • Instead of freezing and keeping in a vault, why not plant em, you get good clean food and you keep the seeds from the harvest for the following year.

  • yeah... you plant them when you need the food.. you don't plan AAAAALLL the seeds that you have.. you save some for later... and those go in the freezer..

  • exacly what he is doing !

  • OKRA is a plant that is easy to multiply your seed collection fast. Collect the dark hard seeds from okra that has completely died on the plant, not white seeds and not soft ones.

  • my grandpa had some seeds from 1989 and he kept them in fridge and i planted them last year. they grew pretty good

  • I just found your videos & you've probably already covered this subject, but just in case: It's also good to learn to save seeds from your crop(there may be nowhere to buy them after the "big one" hits), which is easier said than done. Watermelon & tomatoes need to ferment for a few days before being washed, dryed & stored. I grew a crop of watermelons, pumpkins and yellow and white corn from the seeds I saved last year. My squash mutated into all kinds of strange looking gourd-like things tho.

  • what about vacuum sealing seeds and burying them in waterproof caches in the ground. would vacuum sealing extend their "shelf-life"?

  • NO! seeds need oxygen,it just needs to be dry or frozen.

  • ever thought of adding mycelium to your collection.

  • if it gets that bad your going to need guns not seeds, buy guns and amo, cause if you got food and no one else does ,ouch

  • probably too true dude!!

  • How about both? Stock seeds & guns/ammo. And medical supplies, and, and... you get the idea. ;)

  • WHERE DO YOU SUGJEST GETTING SEEDS ??

  • small stores, farms market & online you can get heirloom there

  • Should try and get non-genetically modified open pollinated varities to save. These will produce seeds that will grow plants that are just like their parents, where as most seeds bought as stores will not produce plants that give qualitiy seeds - it's just not what they are meant for. They are better than nothing though definetly. I really enjoyed this video. I had the same thought about the big valut...I can't get to the artic - I need my own mini-vault. Thanks for posting.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your website and these videos. It took the experiences of a blizzard, a flood and an earthquake for me to get the point and start preparing.

  • Trade? Seeds can be traded.

do you have to do anything to the pre packaged seeds like you buy in the store before you freeze them?

survivalistboards (2 days ago) Reply | Spam

Nope, just them and freeze them.

  • do you have to do anything to the pre packaged seeds like you buy in the store before you freeze them?

  • Nope, just them and freeze them.

  • If you save seeds from your garden, do they have to be dried before you freeze them?

  • Yes, wash and let them dry for a week or two.

  • Great vid Kev... but I have to say... I'm a little upset at the lack of the "boonie" cover in your last couple of videos! :) Good stuff!

  • Great video.

  • too many peas kev! You need to unload some of those buggers on your neighbors and diversify them seed.

  • I would have never to have thought to save seeds. I don't think most apartment dwellers would. Thanks for the tip.

  • Trade? Seeds can be traded.

  • Another great vid, looking foward to the follow up!

  • Next time they start making fun of you just drag them in front of the camera. muhaahaaha

Great idea Kev. Seeds are so cheap compared to their payoff. What is the shelf life of a bag of triple 13? Might want to have a few spare bags of that too.

  • I noticed you saying "BDR" in a previous video, is that what you said? And what are they?

  • BVR - its a type of pea plant.
