Do you have any tips on getting -4an fittings on -4an hose? I know all the regular stuff like tape it tightly and use a cut off wheel so it wont fray. It just keeps pushing the braids back no matter what I do. Please let me know, thanks.
Hi all I'm new to this whole braided hose stuff and anodized fittings! I have an 04 Subaru sti and would love to replace most hoses with these braided ones. The question is how do I find out the size of the fittin that tha male screws into example: power steer reservoir on my car is plastic with the hose clamped on to it, would some thing replace the piece were the hose gose on? I saw u screwed the completed fiting on to the metal threaded piece in question. Thanks any help would be great
Thanks for the tip, I need to do this for my oil relocation and oil cooler hookup, but was wondering if anyone knows, once you go to twist the hose on, does the blue spin free so it can thread to the fitting?
Them lines are a pain in the ass. I used them on my pro street car, you have to be real careful not to scratch off the thin anodized coating or cross thread the fittings and at about $3 a fitting you learn real quick. Not to mention stabbing your fingers full of holes from the braided steel. In the end it's worth the work.
Now...That was one of your best of recent bro...Nice....lots of people know how to fit up braided lines....and now there are a lot more people who know how to...
i all way's wondered how those worked hey Pet got a question now if i was to get some steel braided lines from the hard ware store and use them on my 56 bug for fuel and and vacuum line's. what do you think?
I was wonderin about puttin that red collar in the vise bare as you did. Wouldn't an anal retentive owner be a lil bitchy about the scrape marks on the fitting? I mean lookin at the nice firewall of that thing, I couldn't imagine this lil thing be overlooked. I know that regular tools could scuff it up a bit too, I was just curious.
You should use the teflon braid Pete especially for your fuel lines, it has much better corosion resistance and its not that much more expensive. A bit of a different sealing method but much safer in my opinion. Thats what I made all of the lines on my race car with top quality stuff. Also can get some orange shielded fibre style sleve for any area's where the lines may get hot (like the turbo on the race car).
Yes I have used the teflon hose.. And I like it as well as the rubber hose.. Teflon is a bit more expensive, but works very well.. I use it for air ride suspension mostly. Thanks Pete
@Flippnit You probably have metric size fittings since its a subaru, I would strat with the dealership and ask them the correct size thread you have, and take it from there.. Investagate the situation... Pete

@flamingaxe791 Instead of pushing it on,, try screwing it on --it might screw on in reverse thread patterrn.. Take it easy Pete.
