Kim Richey, you are a wonderful, talented and inspirational musician! I can only hope to be able to write songs that are my own, like you do. For now, just trying to follow your singing and playing is a welcome challenge. Thank you so much for sharing your art with us (and by the way, you ARE one of the beautiful people.) Please come to Portland, OR someday so I can see you live!

Really beautiful unplugged version of this tune! Maybe the way it was supposed to be done. This song sounds best like this when it's folksy, although the original twangy version isn't bad either.
I love Kim Richey.. This song has been a beacon for me since she put out "Bittersweet" back in '97. Know what you mean by tweener. I worked for a fellow
Ohio musican, Marti Jones who had the same difficulty with the Industry's inability to handle artists who can't be pigeonholed into a single category...
Amen! too bad Kim is a tweener; not pop enough for Top 40 and not country enough for commercial country. I saw her a few times in Philly, once in a free outdoor concert w/ Lucinda Williams and the Mavericks! OMG what a great day.
It was a hit albeit for Brooks and Dunn. Kim Richey's version always trumped that one IMO. I sent it to a friend named Roy who preferred the Brooks and Dunn version ... and now The Searchers do it. Hopefully Kim's making some nice royalties.

She has the voice of an angel, she writes with intelligence it's too bad we live in a shallow world that only promotes the "beautiful" people.

Gorgeous song. Maura O'Connell also did a nice cover of it.
