Hello kingcrusher, first i have to say thank you for the all videos you poste on youtube, i like to see them when i am too tired to play and secondly, you sayed that we could ask you for some games analysis and i would see your analyse of the game between nakamura and carlsen during this tournament.
@1Abcplayer I think it was Fischer in the article he wrote I think its called "A bust to the king's gambit"(something like that), after black takes the gambit 1. Nf3 d6 is supposed to be the high class waiting move
15:29 in the summary, the critical move for Magnus. You say there is no easy way to defend the pawn, but if he just moves his knight to g5 now, instead of later, like in the game, then not only is the pawn defended immediately his bishop, but Giri cannot push the pawn because the knight is defending against that. so, if Giri plays his knight and attacks magnus Queen, it doesnt hurt Magnus, since he can move his queen and still have the tempo to move his knight to e4 blockading that E pawn.
interesting game. terribly played by magnus (obviously i couldn't do better, but still this is way below him). anyway, i'm just commenting to point people to giri's explanation of the game:
youtube.com/watch?v=WD2Heem_3_4
(it pretty much accords with KC's; just might be interesting to hear from the player himself)
KC, did you ever cover the game of Krammik vs Fritz where he blundered a mate in one? Not so much for the game but reasons why it can happen? What about a series "Great blunders and why?" It might be instructive to muse about why blunders happen so we can remove them from our game.
@ulujm To become an FM (FIDE master), you need to achieve a rating of at least 2300 in tournament play. To become an IM (international master), you need to earn a certain number of IM norms (i.e., win or do well at a FIDE-sanctioned tournament that features other IMs). GMs have to win GM norms, which are more difficult to get. IGM (international grandmaster) is a slightly old-fashioned synonym for grandmaster.
I have been looking at Giri some more lately he is only 16 years old and already in the top 50 of the world if i am not mistaken. I wonder if he will be champ one day, would be nice to see another dutch champion :D
About this game, Giri said "He blundered a piece and it is unlikely that Magnus will lose like this again in the next 10 years"
Thanks for the vid, KC. Could you review a game of Nakamura when you'll have time? It would be interesting to see how he would play, as a rising champion =] Thanks a bunch!
@darrencorgan With all due respect, I went through what was interesting for me in the game - which included the tactical behind-the-scenes variations. If you don't like it, please by all means find another channel, or just play through the game yourself from its PGN.
@kingscrusher Actually, darrencorgan, if you check out the KC channell you'll see there is a wide range of experiences from live bullet torns, blitz torns, 5 mins games (with live comments), his instructive musings on current and past games, his own games and detors into theory.
Also on his own site he setup ways to access these thematically.
Finally, its interesting to read the comments on these games. Don't walk away from this interesting resource and happy little community!
I actually had a chance to use a move just like Giri did at 05:22, but i decided to play safer...

I always amazed how a GM takes advantage of such a harmless move like Qd2...it looks so safe then again it can lead to so much trouble

I have a random question... Who coined the term "high class waiting move" ? was it fischer? or was it someone else?

Lets not forget in the Krammnik vs Computer Game, after hours of intesive calculation, he missed a mate IN ONE. It happens.

HI king what is the difference between GM IM IGM FM are they all the same but different nomination?
