These gentlemen did blow my mind w/songs such as this. The Delfonics/Blue Magic/Blue Notes/Chi Lites/Moments, and the Stylistics were a staple of groups that came out of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. As Motown was to Detroit Michigan, the Philly sound was to Philadelphia. For a time in the late 60's to early 70's the Philly sound surpassed the Motown w/groups such as the Delfonics. Thanks to Thom Bell & Linda Creed for writing most of the music for these groups.
If you didn't grow up in Southern Cali, you wouldn't have a clue on the beautiful life in the hoods driving Lowriders & hitting switches as a Black teenagers in High School...with these brothers Blowing doing their thang...The Delphonics one of the Greatest groups of all times....wish we could turn the clock back...
When I was a teenager in the early 1970s, I heard this on a PA in a public swimming pool and instantly loved it. The high roof and big space made the sound reverb, and weirdly, no matter all the times I've heard it since, I still hear it in my memory with reverb and smell chlorine!
These are one of the many philly great philly soul groups of the 60's/70's, Not to Mention, The Intruders, Stylistics, Teddy Pendrgras and The Blue notes,So Muce talent in My town,Barbara Mason, and Kenny and Leon founders of TSOP can You dig it? "south park version is way better" Syke! You sound pretty ridiculous.South park is a joke, and so are you for posting this stupid comment. How can you compare some stupid cartoon to this? This song is a masterpiece.
When you say South Park version, do you mean the one on the episode where Cartman formed a Christian group or something? I thought that song sounded familiar.....
but the original one (this one) is like 10,000,000,000,000 times better. :D

i'm 25 and i listen to extreme metal, but i really love this song. 1st heard it on the movie Jackie Brown w/pam grier (tarentino version). very beautiful song
There's good stuff out there, you just have to dig more these days as it all went out of popularity. Check out Sharon Jones or the labels ubiquity or daptone. Also Eldridge Gravy and the Court Supreme from Seattle, I hear that's pretty "fresh".
djhardrock.......very cool and acurate insight on Mr. Thom Bell and the brilliant mind he had for lush arrangements, behind vocals. I always loved the oboe/English horn,
lol, actually the "viking horn" is trademark Thom Bell productions. He was a flow blown classically trained arranger and producer. His work is almost alway lush and big. Somehow he always manages to stay out of the way of the vocals with 10,000 insturments playing very critical parts.
I love this song, but I wonder which one of them was like, "Hey guys, lets add some crazy ass viking horn sounds to the begininning of the song!" And the rest of them were like, "sure, ok" and they did that wierd ass shit.
Personally, every victory is bittersweet. The coaching staff needs to go. I've felt that way since Brad Childress took over. The offense runs the same four or five plays, can't control the clock for garbage, they spent a second-round draft pick on an Arena-leauge back-up(Tar-Tar Jackson) and the special teams coach is a joke and a half.

Thank you for your comments. Truth is, I'm REALLY not listenting to much of ANY rap these days!!! Again, I never meant to imply that ALL rap is "no-talent", however, I feel that 95% of it is...I'm ready for something entirely different...something "fresh" (if you will) I do agree with many of your comments though. It does appear that what we hear on the radio is the most vile form. That is (partially) why I agreed with what "Dr. Whatson" stated in his comments one week ago...
I gave my heart and soul to you Baby....I am alone I never cheated on you Baby...I go to bed alone evey night wishing you were there...is this a dream I dream alone??
"All great art LASTS" (Dave Godin) This song certainly lasts, and moves me as much today as it did when I first heard it back in 1970! - in fact, given the parlous state of some of today's Black music, it sounds even better in retrospect. Plea to today's artists: Give up rappin', go back to church and learn to SING again - the world sure needs you!
For all you "Sound Of Philadelphia" lovers...I've compiled some SUPER playlists of MASTERPIECES JUST LIKE THIS (on my humble channel)...ripe and ready for the picking! ENJOY!!!
Man, to the person who said that New Kids on the Block did this song better than the Defonics obviously didn't come up on this stuff, and doesn't know talent..This is the shit right here..Smooth,stone-cold slow jammin',slow dancin' with your baby. Nobody did it better than the Delfonics..This reminds me of my high school dances and my senior prom..Great, great stuff..Thanks for posting this and bringing back lots of fine memories..
You are 100% correct on your comments. This song is done best by the original artist (Delfonics). These gentlemen in my opinion were the best of their day. All the best..
Fantastic song inspired me to start writing, listen carefuly at 1.08 the semiquaver run by the orchestra, the downbeat doesn,t come where expected, this bit almost written in 5\4.
Yes! Quinten Tarantino new how great these gentelmen were. They were so good that he had their music put into the movie Jackie Brown. Matter of fact their music was played throughout the movie.
Can't look back just move forward- the Delfonics made history with this sound that still resonates till this day. I will always cherish the memories. Thanks Delfonics!!!
the first time I ever saw a live group was in Tucson, Az 1970 along with my gal Mary Hilyard. They blew my mind with how smooth they were and how good they sounded.
Can I get a little help peoples? What was the B-side of "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time? It may not have been quite the cut that the A-side was but nevertheless I smoothed the grooves o' that 45! I do recall a almond-eye houri figured in the equation.
I'm really feelin this joint right here. I'm gonna sing it at karaoke tonight. This stuff puts the folk on the dance floor. There ain't nothing like gettin close to your girl and dancing to joints like this. Somebody say something if they know what I mean. I want to do some Tempree's to, but they don't have'em. Not even one joint. The Delfonic's will get the job done. Trust....
Jackie Brown brought me here :)

Yes! Quinten Tarantino new how great these gentelmen were. They were so good that he had their music put into the movie Jackie Brown. Matter of fact their music was played throughout the movie.

the first time I ever saw a live group was in Tucson, Az 1970 along with my gal Mary Hilyard.

Trust....
