@Jimreeves20 I made this a long time ago. I usually drop the tuning down half a step so that's probably why it doesn't jive. (Also, I'm not sure there is an E in it. I don't have it at hand to check for sure)
Mahalo ukuleles are cheaply made and because they are cheap they have rubbish strings and tuning pegs. You should save up some cash and get some new tuning pegs and strings from your local music shop. I would reccomend Worth strings for your uke. Also when your uke is new, you need to give time for the strings to bend and adjust, bcause at first, the strings are very slack and don't stay in tune, but keep tuning it on a daily basis and upgrade your strings and your uke will be ok.
@IFmusicIF the new models have better tuning heads (acoustic tuning heads instead of slip or friction machine heads) the strings after a day of first tuning stay in tune for ages, the tension and sound of the uke they make is great.. i've had my default strings etc and uke for 2 weeks now and i love it.. but i have to admit to get the full sound out of a ukulele buy a slightly bigger wooden one for a bit more money, my uke is wood but has been painted. i recomend buy if just for fun or learning
i got this exact uke today, for 30$. it's actually pretty decent, for begginers. the tuning sucks though, i can never stay in perfect tune. other than that, it's not bad.
@xbox360nerd1 my girlfriends dad just bought me this as a birthday present :) he did say that he had the same problem with his, its nothing to do with the ukulele its the strings that come with it are no good and stretch themselves out of tune... all you need to do is get different strings :)
Well they are cheap but you can certainly knock out a good tune. Yes the tuning wanders off a bit but doesn't any uke? If you're playing on your own they say it doesn't really matter. It's when you play as a group you need stability. So play away is my motto.
Mines' a pink one ;-)
BTW I've still got the original strings. I've heard that putting better strings in would help. Anyone done that?
The tuning isn't too stable..but I haven't noticed it as a big problem. I tune mine half a step down so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
guys what can you tell me about mahalo? someone told me that for the same price (like 30 EUR) you can have a Arrow ST 740 that sounds better...! how mahalo is?
Like I mentioned below, I don't know much about ukes. This one was a gift and it seems to do the job. MonkeyKnifeFight12 below looks like he/she has a better grasp on the quality of ukeleles. Thanks for the comment.
Mahalo's are very cheap but for the price they are pretty amazing quality. Though if you get into uke you will probably outgrow it quickly. They have a pretty high action and in general the sound just isn't very rich. I used one for a few months then recently moved on to a Flea.
this not GCEA !!!! it seems !!!

Is that a good ukulele?
I think I'm going to buy one just in yellow.
AnimalChiko 2 years ago
Just being a beginner I have no idea if it's a good uke or not. It makes the noises I want it to, so it suits me fine. Buy one and have fun!

I had trouble too, then I bought one of those cheap-o suction cup mic thingies and plugged in into my guitar tuner pedal. Works like a charm.
