He lives a few house from my Aunt in Tarzana and he truly is a gentleman and full of class and so humble. He and his wife will be attending my Aunts annual Holiday party, wish I didn't live so far away.
Every musicians journey begins with his/hers voice, and then it usually transforms into a physical instrument that fits the soul. Al's instrument kept to its purest form... rhythm, voice, melody, mind, body, and spirit... the physical instrument is nothing more than Al.
I met Al (of all places) when I was shopping at the Gelson's market in Tarzana, CA. in 2002. What a humble man... I was so happy to finally meet him. I was really lost for words, but so happy to shake his hand. Thanks Al !
Heavy lyrics, heavy melody lot's of emotion. Hope this song touches your heart and allows love to come in. Thanks Al. Peace and Blessing to everyone worldwide from chocolate city..
AL JARREAU I HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN...THE LAST TIME I SAW YOU WAS IN VIRGINIA 2010, AT THE FERGUSON CENTER FOR THE ARTS. YOU ARE A GREAT TALENT. HAVE BEEN A FAN FOR 35 YEARS. BE WELL.

Hi, the bass player is George Hawkins, Bobby Lyle on Rhodes, Jim Studer on keys, Michael Patches Stewart and Michael Paulo on horns....Alex Acuna on drums....the name of the guitar player escapes me for the moment.....can't see the percussion player.....it's nearly the same band which performed early 80'ies in Germany's ROCKPALAST ( with Icarus Johnson on guitar...) thanks for the music ...does anybody have the whole concert ?
Excellent performance. Al Jarreau has always surrounded himself with stellar musicians. This band is incredible. The flugelhorn solo is spot on. The rhythm section is grooving like a freight train. Thanks for the upload.
Look at the nice 1983 performance of "Mornin´" at "livevideo[dot]com" (search for "Al JARREAU") made for Germany´s public television channel "1", and you will see that the stuff is always the same. So, I believe that this great version of "My Old Friend" from Italy could probably be performed in 1983, too.
Has anybody additional informations about the personnel, besides Bobby LYLE - musical director, piano/keyboards, James STUDER - piano/keyboards, Michael Patches STEWART - Fluegelhorn?

Good--but it's a good example of how having amazing studio players(Graydon,Foster, etc.)brings an inner life to a great song--the original is a true Westcoast masterpiece.

I will be travelling from Spain to London in N ovember to see him.
I have seen him twice already, once when I was 19 and he 44/45, second time was when he came last summer to my little beach town in the island of Mallorca, Spain, in an Amazing venue by the sea, I danced all night...
And then, when I heard he was in London playing in the Indigo2 venue this november.... I just HAD to get the tickets.
